Cathlete
Good morning! I'm posting before my shower....I have a few extra minutes since I got up a bit earlier today.

Cendrine, thanks for the stats on that soup. After school today, I'm stopping for kale and will be making this soup tonight!!!!!!!

Jo, CHEST MUSCLE! WOO HOO! I always stand and shamelessly flex in front of the bathroom mirror, with half the lights on because the muscles seem to POP with that indirect light! LOL GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!

The half marathon, last night I did contact the organizers, but got an auto response saying that the email addy wouldn't be monitored so closely to the race date. I have another friend who MAY know somebody who isn't using his bib, so he's checking for me today. Finger crossed.

Workout this morning is DONE! LIC cardio premix and stretch, Core max on the ball.

I have to be at school right when I drop my kids off....DS's math challenge is this AM. Then I'll just stay there for work, then the grocery store for kale then home for quiet. We don't have ANYTHING tonight, so I'm taking the kids to the local AAA travel office to start looking at options for a BIG vacation in 2010. I'm letting them in on the decision process, so this will be FUN!

BBL this afternoon!

KICK IT HARD TODAY, LADIES!

Gayle

GOOD MORNING LADIES!!!!

Well my weekend has officially started :D:D:D!!!. When I got home from my meeting last night, there waiting on the porch for me was my Cathe slanted risers that had been on backorder. It amazing how something so simple can rejuvinate me after a very hectic week. I was like a kid in a candy store!!!

DS just got on the bus and DH is still sleeping, so the house is very quite. I committed to my sister and her husband to walk every other Friday at 8:00 a.m., and today is our first walk. It rained all day yesterday, so it's pretty wet and cold out, but that won't stop us. The sister I'm walking with today is retired and her husband is a dentist and he doesn't work on Fridays either. We are all pretty fast walkers, so it will be fun getting exercise and "catching up" at the same time. I will do Disc 15 when I get home from the walk, and then I will take Toby for a walk at the walking path later today (Do you think I'm getting in enough exercise today???)

Wow, I just looked at the clock, and I need to leave in about 15 minutes and I'm not dressed yet. I will say goodbye for now, and will CBL to talk to each of you when I'm not rushed by that darn clock!!!

Mary

Happy Friday to Everyone!
Like Mary I don't work Fridays so it's nice to have some extra time to catch up!

Yesterday I did disc 16 for the second time and today I think I will do KPC after lunch. I wanted to do the CTX kickbox but my disc keeps freezing :mad: After I take the kids to school will run for groceries and to pick up our race packets. This Sunday is our race. It's the Police Half Marathon (cancer fundraiser) which can be done as the whole 13.1 miles or as a two man relay. DH is doing the half and ds and I are doing the two man relay. DS and I are going to run the first half together and then at the switch off point, two of my running buddies/coworkers take over. Should be fun. It's a fun little run compared to the massive 16,000 run we usually do in June.

Cendrine WTG on getting DH eating healthy! Good for him for doing CC, does he do them on the tm? The swimming classes sound like fun! I used to be a swimmng teacher/lifeguard and we would offer the daily classes for 2 weeks during the summer. The kids would progress so fast compared to the weekly lessons!

Jo. CONGRATS on finishing the first half of sts! Woo Hoo on the chest muscles, maybe you should post some pics! Thanks for the idea on microwaving the sweet potatoes, I might try that at work next week.

Gayle The double wave load for next week looks hard! Does it add a lot of intensity to the workout??? Congrats on your pants falling off LOL  After watching Survivor for so many years, I just stopped watching it mid season this year for some reason. I think I"ve missed the last 3 episodes, I guess I could still get back into it, is it worth it?
So when you do a half marathon, you don't do a few weeks of training to get up to the 13 miles??? I usually run one once a year but I definitely train for it, I couldn't just go run 13 miles without some training,

Mary WTG on fitting into a smaller size! What fun to go shopping! Sounds like a nice way to start Friday mornings by a walk with your sister and BIL. I love IMAX 2, my favourite workout of all time! Enjoy your Friday off!

Kim

WTG, Jo on the chest muscles! It is so motivating to work hard when you see results like that, isn't it?

Gayle, when you go to get the Kale, remember, you don't need anything else! ;)
My husband is a little freaked out by the swine flu, so he got this pandemic preparedness sheet that has a suggestion of foods to store for emergencies. So he sent me to Costco to stock up.... Second trip to Costco in one week!LOL!

Kim, have fun at the race! Let us know how it went! Yes, the swim lessons are cool, they do say they make huge progress and are ready for the pool season in those two weeks. DS had lessons twice a week last year and learned to be safe, but no form to speak of. So this year he's learning stroke and such. dd has no swim lessons on her resume, I worked with her last year while son was getting lessons, doing the bubble blowing in the water, holding breath to submerge and even jumping in and also kicking the legs, but that was it. I am looking forward to her being water safe this year.

Mary, lots of exercise for you today! Enjoy!

I did disk 18, I worked hard. My back muscles felt really strong today. I started with pullups (usually I do chinups first) but pullups are so much harder for me that not being tired helped me do quite a few more and then I popped on the floor to do the tubing for the rest of the reps. I did really well on the chinups for the next two sets as well, I was very thrilled!
Boy was I glad for those forced reps at the end of the concentration curls! I could not have done more without it!

Meals for today:

m1 banana chocolate protein shake and oatmeal
m2 fresh strawberries, greek yoghurt, otameal
m3 big salad with tomatoes, canned salmon and some beans
m4 leftover sugar snap/beef meal with flax seed
m5 sauteed onions, chicken and broccoli

I'll be busy this morning. It's the last day of teacher appreciation week and I am going to bake a special swiss bread and make a fresh fruit muesli for ds teacher for a family brunch for her for tomorrw. I'm making double batches for ourselves (minus the bread for me):)

Hi everyone!

KPC done, I always enjoy the sense of freedom with kickboxing. :p

Cendrine What a lucky teacher! That's very sweet of you!

Mary Did you try out those slanted risers today?

Gayle A vacation, what fun! Do you guys have some ideas of places yet? I love to travel (but no where too exotic, LOL) and I'm a super planner. I always have restaurants, plans for each day all organized. I just love the planning process and always include the kids, it's part of the fun. We're already spending lots of time at supper discussing which restaurants we should try in Disney next December:rolleyes:

Hi, ladies. I am JUST NOW FINALLY sitting down...eating my egg whites and cantalope. I've been going non stop since 8 am and need to get off my feet!

Straight from school, I hit the store and ONLY BOUGHT STUFF I NEEDED for the 2 soups I was going to make. Then I picked up the boys at school and went right to the travel agent for about 90 minutes! Then home and I've been in the kitchen ever since....I made a double batch of the Chicken Coconut Soup (did I share that recipe with you guys) and a batch of Cendrine's Super Energy Kale Soup (is that the name? LOL). My kitchen is a MESS, but it sure smells yummy! And my fridge will be stocked for several days.....perhaps enough to carry me right on thru our May 9th target date!

OK....a few things/comments in response to some questions.

Jo, you asked last night about STS vs BFL. When I go back to BFL way of lifting, I do believe the 1RM #s will be a help. However, I think BECAUSE of my BFL rotation, I had a very VERY good idea what my 1RM was already. I like both lifting programs equally. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, just different. You have to be disciplined for both, in different ways. BFL, you're on your own with no video cues. STS, you need to be able to commit to and trust the principals of Cathe's lifting methods (double wave load, back off sets, etc).

Kim, you asked about Double Wave Loading. Yes, it adds intensity. It's basically 2 up pyramids back-to-back. As for Survivor, nah.....I wouldn't say this season is worth any trouble. It's not anything special or different. In fact, my mom called after last night's tribal council to ask who had the hidden immunity idol and I had to ask DS because I've only been half-paying attention this season! LOL As for the Half Marathon, I would NORMALLY train at least for a month before a half, but I've decided last minute 2 times in the past to just run it and it was fine. I'm built for endurance, no doubt, lol!

Cendrine, your soup is simmering as I type! Are you able to do chin/pull ups UNassisted???

Vacation plans. We spoke with the agent and she was super great with me. I like to travel, but I've always driven everywhere with the kids to save on travel, and we usually arrange vacations around family so we can visit with and stay with them (again, to save money). However, I want to go BIG!!! I want to treat the kids (and me) to something like a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We went over the idea of a cruise, which is what we wanted at first. But the more I thought of it, the more I thought maybe I'd rather do that with another adult. I'm 'geographically-challenged' and unless I have a GPS, I don't have a good sense of direction when left on my own. Docking and getting off the ship is a daunting idea for me, especially since it will be JUST me with the kids, and I don't want to waste time at port (or whatever the term is) trying to figure out where I am. So we moved onto some other options. I fell in LOVE with the Beaches Resorts by Sandals (again, the terminology may be off, lol), where we would fly to Jamaica and stay at an all-inclusive resort for a week, and fly home. I LOVED IT!!!!! We also got info on a trip to Canada and Texas, which are other options I've got in mind. But I now have my heart set on the Beaches Resort. I have to think on it, especially considering the cost.

I'm wearing a pair of my Goal Jeans. I had this pair hanging front and center of my closet, right where I'd see it everytime I walked in there. This morning, when getting dressed for school (Fridays are dress down), I thought I'd try them on. Up they went, up went the zipper, closed went the button....without sucking in my gut or squeezing my but!!!! I just HAD to wear them today. Several people asked me about looking great and had I lost weight!!!!! It felt good for others to notice. It kept me on cloud 9 all day!

OK......I'm tired now. lol Kids and I are in for the night and I think we're just going to watch movies tonight. Tomorrow is my rest day and I'm SOOOOOOOOO looking forward to it. I don't think the Half Marathon is going to pan out for Sunday, which is fine with me, considering they're calling for hard rain the whole morning! :)

OH....my menu:
M1: salsa chicken wrap
M2: bar (was at school for the math challenge and knew I'd need this instead of my stinky egg whites in front of everybody! LOL)
M3: small gala apple and 2 lite string cheese
M4: Chicken Coconut Soup
M5: 3 egg whites, 1 C cantalope
M6: BSN protein drink

BBL, maybe!

Gayle

Sorry guys I have missed the last couple of days. I have just been able to glance over the posts a little and chuckle alot. You gals crack me up sometimes.

But liisten to this real humdinger...(mind you I am only 32). I went to bed last night trying to brainstorm what I could pack for a lunch today for work. I have to most of the tiime be practical because I work in construction and sometimes there is not a way to heat up my food. So needless to say I was real excited that we were working at a job that I could use my foreman grill. I still couldn't come up with anything that sounded good at such a short notice. So this morning I just started digging things out of the fridge and ended up making a pretty tasty ww flatbread burrito with brown rice cottage cheese, some salsa and some frozen chicken breast ( you kknow the convenient kind you have around just in case of emegency) Anyway, I thought I did pretty good with my limited time this morning and off I went with my pretty clean meal (I do not think the frozen chicken is that clean but it will do in a pinch) Well I got home tonight still pleased with myself and when I opened the cupboard to get a glass out there was my bag of frozen chicken breast! They were not frozen anymore...My DH saw the disappointment on my face and was so sweet by saying sometimes when he eats cereal he puts the milk where the cereal goes and the cereal where the milk goes, but then of course right away he knows his mistake. I do not know what makes me more mad. The mindlessness or the waist.

I did disc 17 yesterday and yall weren't lyin' it was tough. Then a new problem emerged. I have to change my preworkout meal for that day. Normally on weight training days I eat about a third cup of frozen berries with a scoop of protein powder and a handful of cereal. Well at the end of that workout my cereal wanted out...So I will probably treat it more like a cardio day and eat accordingly and see how that goes instead.

Gotta go see if I can figure up a dinner...
Rachel

Jo, I forgot to answer this before, yes, hubby is still doing cc! I am really excited about that! Thanks so much for getting us started on this! He's still having to pause the challenges because his recovery takes him longer than the workouts allow for, but he's coming home drenched! It's awesome!

Gayle, good job on only getting what you needed. Did you end up adding chicken or something else protein into the soup? Let me know when you have some and let me know how you like it. I also have a yummy recipe for a barley mushroom soup. But it's not as clean since it asks for some red wine, but it tastes oooh sooo good!
And yes, I am doing the chin ups and pull ups unassisted, but I can't do all of them. Today I was able to do six in each set and then default to the tubing. I am still amazed at the kind of weight you lift for your workouts, both legs and upper body. Do you have something to do chinups with? I bet you could do it, judging from the weights you lift for everything else!

Rachel, I hate when that kind of stuff happens to me! Fortunately it doesn't happen too often, but I can so sympathize! But wtg on packing such a great lunch on the fly! I'm glad you got well challenged on disk 17. You'll be feeling 18 too. I'm still feeling 17!

Ok, guys, Cardio Coach for me tomorrow, not sure which one yet, and stability ball abs circuit.

Have a great weekend all!

Hello FITNESS GIRLFRIENDS!!!!!! :D

Gayle, I still think the ½ marathon is meant to happen for you….I’m sending you “½ marathon will happen” vibes! Best of luck to DS on the math challenge!!! I’ll be thinking of all of you! (Remember my chest muscles are tiny…but THEY ARE THERE!!) CONGRATULATIONS on the GOAL JEANS!!!

Mary, I love my slanted risers – forgive me if I’m repeating myself, but I bought mine before Xmas in anticipation of STS! GOOD PURCHASE!! How was your walk?

Kim, GOOD LUCK on the race! I hope you all have a great time! I hate to say this, but yes I’d post some pictures, but I really don’t have any impressive results like what Gayle had with BFL. Since I didn’t have any weight to lose, my changes are really small (teeny tiny and you have to really look for them). DH is noticing…so that speaks volumes! I love KPC! :p

Cendrine, oh my goodness…we are going to Costco for Swine Flu preparedness tomorrow! (Can you say 25 lbs of beans???) :D You are so wonderful to make the swiss treats for teacher appreciation! Isn’t Disc 18 great? Tomorrow I’m starting Disc 19! Week 3 here I come! Enjoy CC tomorrow!

Rachel, I had to laugh about the chicken! (Your meal sounds great!) I’ve had that situation before too where something ended up in the pantry that should have been in the refrigerator or vice a versa! Oh well! Glad you liked Disc 17!

Okay, so today was a potluck type lunch at work (Mexican) but I bagged it and had my tilapia and broccoli! Tomorrow I’m starting week 3 (Disc 19)…I doubled up on Thursday and today was my rest day so did a 6-day week this week.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

I meant to ask you all….do feel a difference with all this clean eating? I’m finishing 5 weeks now and I really love how balanced I feel. Also sometimes in the past, since I work out first thing in the morning without eating (during the week) I sometimes was really depleted in energy and struggled through my workouts. I am not experiencing that. I always have plenty of energy whether I’ve eaten or not. Are you all experiencing that nice balance as well?

Also, I feel I have better posture, my mind is clearer…everything is better. Do you clean eaters feel this as well? My body is happier for the workouts and the good eats! Oh, and of course, my clothes fit devinely!
