50 and over week of Sept 4 check in

Good morning,

Just got back from Illinois. I can't believe how dirty the place was. Everything looked neat but when you started to clean you realized that nobody had lived there for 4 years and the dust was evenly distributed. My bil who has a basement apartment seldom came upstairs.

I need to start getting rid of stuff at my house I probably have ten times the amount as my mil. At least we have 2 people interested in her house.

Magnolia hope electric is back on and you are ok.

Jann Hope doctor has an answer this time.

Thanks, Joan. The power was restored to us on Saturday afternoon. Of course we celebrated by going out! lol! Anyway, we certainly lose sight of how much we depend on electricity when we have to do without it.

I spent today putting things away, but took a break to do Disc 22 followed by a back pain prevention stretching workout. We had used up several of our candles, so I replaced them Actually, we had gone to Lowe's Saturday and bought a battery-operated lantern and two smaller lanterns plus batteries, only to come home and find that the power was back. I told dh that we should have bought those lanterns much earlier in the week!

Hi everyone!

I went to a great class this am at my gym. the focus is on butts and gutts and it is a progressively intense 6 week program. We meet once a week. I liked it becasue it made me sweat and it was different. There were 12 people with 4 different stations, which we rotated through doing intervals for one minute. Then after one round of hitting each of the station, we hit the treadmills for 4 minutes of intense cardio. The stations included kettlebell squats, bungee squats, ropes and weights, and some killer ab work with the ball. I was thinking of taking some of cathes moves and doing them like that--say four exercises then cardio, repeat. Anyway, it was different and I burned about 600 calories in one hour!

Jann- I do not have any VHS left. What I have is the dvd with three old rountines, step max, step heat and step jam. I must have sold my old vhs on ebay a while back.

Magnolia- how awful to be without electricity for that long! Was your house hot? What did you do with your time?

Joan- Whenever I visit some of my relatives, who shall remain nameless- I also come home and start cleaning my own house more thoroughly- clutter phobia!! Gym equipment doesn't count, however...

Beth is that type of workout called Tabata? A friend of mine swears its the most intense cardio she has done. Kind of like curves on crack. :p

Joan I still have no answers. This is the most drawn out cycle of tests. I don't go back until Oct for biopsy's. I think they (doctors) are hoping I just go away! :rolleyes:

Magnolia ugh :( No electricity. We were out a couple of hours and I was lost. Did you lose your freezer food?

Well, with the rain outside, I dragged myself to the basement yesterday and did the basic sculpt workout, it's on the same dvd as basic step. It was only 30 minutes and I actually can feel it today. :eek::eek: Plan to do a step workout today. I managed to gain 4 pounds in August --- that must go!!

Well, today is a tired day. I woke up every hour or two during the night last night. Plus I had to be up early this morning, so no workout today.

Thank goodness the weather last week when our electricity was out was neither humid nor hot, so our house stayed comfortable with the windows open. Everything in the refrigerator and freezer was ruined, so we did have to throw it all out. We went out to eat (I ate carefully at the restaurants), but for lunch each day we went to Baskin & Robbins or Carvel and got ice cream cones. I ordered whatever I wanted, but at least I got the small size. I weighed this past Monday morning, and had neither gained nor lost even a pound. Anyway, I'm back on my usual careful diet, and the scale is still the same. :confused: It's kinda like that movie "Groundhog Day" every morning when I weigh!

Jann, if you do not get answers from those doctors, please get a second opinion, or even a third if you need to. Your health is too important.

Beth, that class sounds tough, but fun. Enjoy.

Joan, you made me decide to start my fall cleaning this week. I am sure there are lots of places in my own house that need a good dusting.

No workout today. But yesterday ... Wow!! I did disc 10, spinning and stretch. Over 1000 cal burned!! Today was rest and my book club where I always eat too much. Is disc 23 in mes0 2?

Well, I did Disc 24 today.

Jann, I have been kind of kicking around whether I want to go on to Meso 3 or not. I am not losing weight, but I seem to be re-shaping a little and dh has noticed that. I think I am going to go ahead with Meso 3--at least it will keep me busy until the Low Impact dvds get here. Since I did take off a week for my back and second week because there was no electricity, I'll start Mesocycle 3 on Monday.

I am a grandma!! My life has been turned upside down. :D

Baby and dil are doing great. It was a very long, long, long labor, then they ended up doing a c-section.

No, workouts I don't have time to think. Holding that little girl as much as possible. :D:D

Jann. Good for you! You are hereby EXCUSED from working out until that baby can walk!! That is so exciting! I am jealous!

Magnolia. You are doing sooo well! Don't you find that STS is so good because you don't have to figure out what you're doing that day? Almost like having a trainer!!

I'm taking a rest day. My legs are sore from yesterday.

Beth, I am really enjoying STS. Maybe I like it so much because I don't have to think about what I'm doing today. Still a tiny bit sore today, but plunging in later.

Good afternoon!

No work out for me. I did not sleep well last night and I am really tired. Also, I am still sore from tuesdays butts and guts class.

Jann I do think that class must be like tabata. Boy am I sore!

Magnolia- I think if I could get my diet to fit neatly not a plan the way STS is for working out- I would do better! I hate having to think about what to eat!!

Well, I just finished Disc 27 and the extended stretch.

Beth, wow do I understand about not getting enough sleep! I had a day similar to yours on Tuesday. Do you just wake up a lot during the night? I do, then I have to get up at some point to go to the bathroom (usually about 5 am) then I have a tough time getting back to sleep. Here's hoping we both get a decent night's sleep tonight!
