Beth I promise I will follow through on STS. Diet is always another story but I think I may go back to just the calorie counting with the Mayo Clinic diet. Was your new diet from a book? I hate to change my way of eating too much (except less) because I must be eating right for the Crohn's since I have no symptoms.

I may have to go back to the weights I used the first time through STS. I really don't have any excuses to not follow through. There are no events or vacations to interfere. I don't start babysitting until the middle of August.

Joan, The Seventeen Day Diet author was on a talk show or something and I caught a little of it. The twist on the "17" days was simply that your body needs a change up and also most people can commit to anything if they see a reasonable end to it- 17 days--

So There are 3 phases (like South Beach) The first 17 days you are eating every 3-4 hours- good proteins and water type vegetables-- 2 fruits (before 2) and 2 yogurts or other probiotic--- It was very easy to follow-- For those people that don't exercise- you commit to 17 minutes of exercise everyday--- after the first phse- the second phase adds in whole grains and other good carbs--- if you need to lose more you go back to the first phase after that....

I think it is reasonable-- I could do it while still doing my spinning and other things that really make me hungry--- there are no portion controls- so if you are starving- have more.. I did loose some more stubborn pounds-- I stayed on it for about 10 days (which cracked my husband up-- the 17 day diet that you follow for 10 days) I would do it again with the sts program because it is enough food!

Returning to cathe

Hi, do you mind if I join your check-in? I used to do cathe a lot several years ago and I just started her STS strength 3.5 rotation. I'm also a lifetime WW who has been trying for the last 1 1/2 years to lose the extra 16 I gained back after many years of keeping it off.

So this morning I did disc 1 and afterwards I had trouble lifting my spaghetti arms to wash my hair...

We are getting ready t start the sts rotation again as well. In fact, Joan, I was going to say that I think I may do the one rep tests again to figure where to start. The workoput manager has gotton better since the first time and will figure the weights.

Jann- are you in the garden?

Welcome Andy -- sure join right in. :)

Beth -- Yes, I am living in my gardens right now. I just got in from mowing and putting dirt in the ruts the tracker left when he delivered my shed. I will how ever being taking time off from gardening this week (except for watering before sunrise) because of the 100+ temps coming. :confused:
I will join you guys in STS after meso 1 I don't enjoy that one, with doing CLX so much in the last 3 months though I think I can jump right in with meso 2. So I'll join you guys in a month.
I also just signed up for another 90 day challenge with dieting. I only lost 7 pounds last time, but with all the traveling I am glad I lost that much. :eek: MY summer cloths all fit again -- yay -- :D

Hauling dirt, mowing grass and hopefully putting in the last 20 plants today. :cool: that's called YardMax - :D

And welcome, Andy! I find this forum inspires accountability. I really do work out more regularly because of the inspiration these ladies give me. It's really good to have people you can talk to who are in basically the same situation.

Beth, I would certainly love to join you in doing STS. However, my life right now is not my own. My mil just left this morning, after a delightful weekend with us. My son and grandson will arrive this Friday for a two-week visit. DH's goddaughter wants to come and stay in July with her two little girls, when and for how long, I do not know. Perhaps I could start CLX now (it's short, and I could do it before the boys get up in the mornings), and then start STS right after they leave. I will only be two weeks behind you.

I got the 17-Day Diet book, and really like the plan. However, as I said, my life is not my own. I think I might try to do the first phase this week only, and switch to Phase Two of the South Beach for the two weeks they are here (because I think it might be a little more restaurant friendly). I have to do something I can stick with under all circumstances.

Welcome Andy. I won't be around for awhile because I leave for vacation Wednesday.

Magnolia Beth and I will start STS when I get back so you might not be that far behind. Definitely do whatever you can keep doing for the long term. I just need to jump start my exercise.

Jann I lost not much more than 7lb in a year. I would love to lose that in 90 days. Right now I would be happy to not gain over vacation. Fortunately I don't eat as much when I'm hot.

Hi, all,

Fitting in regular exercise (especially with Cathe's long workouts) is half the challenge. It's taken a while for me to arrange things and I'm hoping I can keep it up. Going on vacations and getting out of the routine is dangerous for me :)

Yesterday I did Cathe's HiiT 30-30 for the first time, in a rather gentle fashion.

Today I did disc 2 of STS though I was still sore from doing the testing for the right weight on Monday evening. I almost moved it to tomorrow, but the soreness mostly went away during the warm up.

Still trying to get this new schedule together, so I'm running late and must go.

Hi, Y'All!

I would love to start STS now, but with my kids coming for a visit, I am just grabbing what pleases me. Today, Classic Firm Volume 6 pleased me, so I just did that one.

Even though I knew it was going to get hot today, I left the air conditioning off during the workout (well it seemed okay at the time). Big mistake. However, I did drink literally an entire quart of water during the workout.

Got lots of stuff to do today, so must run.

Andy it is hard to make time for ourselves. Do you work outside the home? It certainly has been easier for me since retirement.

I have given myself permission to take a rest day. :p So I am catching up on house work. It's way to hot to be outside.
 
well, poop, my post didn't post, anyhoo, i would love to do STS with ya'll , but i can't do it i don't think til we get moved. it takes too much concentration, and i just dont' have it right now. and, it is toooo hot. even with AC the summer makes it harder. it is miserable down here. over 100 everyday and no rain. it is really the pits.

Getting ready for my boys to arrive tomorrow. I was not well today--tummy issues--so no workout. :( Will try to squeeze something in tomorrow morning.

It has been awful these past two days here. Into the high 80s and low 90s. (Which is actually about average where I come from.) But nothing like what you have there, Cathy! We are getting some rain, though, so things are supposed to cool off some.

Cathy Like Magnolia, it's been hot here it was 100 yesterday and 90+ on Wednesday. Wind and a teaspoon of rain came last night and cooled things down a bit. Could use more rain here too.

No workout for me either. I took 2 days off. :rolleyes: Back at the yardwork today. I need to go get more mulch... I don't enjoy this part. Here's some pictures of my new shed/fence. Still working on plantings and landscaping.

Those are great pictures, Jann. Your lawn looks wonderful! Wish I had a green thumb, but DH is the one in this family!

I bought a Kathy Smith dvd that has four different 15-minute workouts on it, thinking I could "get by" for the next two weeks by doing them before the boys get up in the mornings. I tried one of them this morning. . . . :eek:!! They may be short, but they're deadlier than they look! I also finally did the low impact HiiT chapter on Intensity. Wow! Love it! If the new workouts Cathe is making are anything like that one, they'll be tremendous!

Got to run, more to do before the boys get here.

WOW JANN! it is beautiful! wish we could have gorgeous green yards like that, but it would cost a fortune down here and use ALOT of precious water. where are you? i thought you were up where it didn't get real hot. it is EXTREMELY miserable down here. we are desperate for rain!!!!!

Maryland -- we get it all here. Extreme hot, zero and above temps, snow, tornadoes, hurricane winds, and even the occasional earthquake. We also get all four seasons, beautiful flowers, mountains,skiing, oceans, lakes, water falls, and decent restaurants(;)). :D:D

Are you asking about your avatar that shows up by your name or signature where you have Cathy nana etc?
