50 and over Month of May

I think the cold is almost over but not the cough. I had somehow hurt my calf and it has bothered me for a week. I've been staying off it but today I walked 1.5 mi on treadmill and I think it actually helped. There is no reason why I haven't been doing upper body but any excuse will do.

Magnolia I use a down pillow that is not that full. I can mold it to the support I need. I know how bad the pain is and I hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks, Joan. I have a memory foam pillow that I use now. It's about right. I am doing a lot better, but I have a ways to go yet. I finally slept pretty well last night, so I'm grateful.

Needless to say, I have not been working out this week. I have been in so much pain, I haven't even wanted to think about it! So I am going with the flow until I get the go ahead from the chiropractor.

I am now using myfitnesspal to record my eating. It can sync with the fitbit site. I was amazed that when I said I had a sit down job and would work out 3 times a week for 30 minutes, it said I could lose .9lb a week if I ate 1200 calories. No wonder I haven't been losing. So much for 2lb a week. I better fight for 1lb.

Hear Joan scream. I just measured and my hips are 1 INCH bigger and waist is 1/2 to 1 inch bigger:mad:. I thought I had stayed the same. You better never stop exercising as long as I have.
 
I have lost so much strength. I just finished Gym style chest and triceps. I couldn't do all the pushups and used lighter weights. I am almost too sore to type.

I decided to do Gym style for a month rather than a rotation. I may use Butts and Gutts instead of gym lower body but we will see.
 
{{{Joan}}} I know!! It is amazing how muscles work. The good thing is muscle memory -- you will be back in shape in no time. It works both ways!! yay!!

Magnolia - How's the neck?

My ankle is still sore. I read on the internet sometimes it can take up to six weeks to heal. :confused: I am not trying to follow a video I am just making up my own routine for now. I also joined a group that is trying to lose 10 pounds by summer! I put on 10 pound since last year. Up and down more or less a couple of pounds. It's allll in my middle!! :( Trying extra hard with diet and exercise as best I can.
 
Jann I hate that we both added 10lbs and now have to fight to get them off. Especially when I have so many other pounds to lose. I hope I remember how I feel now next January when I am so busy. I can't ever let down again. Even my grandson feels heavy when I carry him.

I love myfitnesspal. I have only used it for a day but it seems to have everything in its data bank. And it doesn't cost anything.

I printed off an April 2004 or 2005 rotation that is Building strength that uses gym style. I may follow that for cardio. I will follow gym style for a month.

Hi, Y'All!

My neck is fine now. It's the bursitis in my right shoulder that is giving me so much pain. So now we are treating that. I do not know how long it will take to get over this, I just have to go with the flow! I am icing my shoulder about three times a day, but I am trying not to take very much pain reliever. I take two aspirin before bed, and that's about it. I made a deal with myself that I would have to be in a lot of pain during the day to take anything else. So far, I have only had to do that a couple of days. I really don't like not working out. Maybe by next week I can walk some. At least I wouldn't have to use my shoulder to do that.

Well, the ice pack is calling me, so I had better go tend to my shoulder again.

Magnolia Hope you're feeling better soon. It feels so much better when we can wo. I hope you are not like me. The longer I go withut exercise the less I want to start back up.

I did get lower body in yesterday. Only a 30 min KCM that was floor work and substituted for the pushups with more legs.

Hi, Y'All!

So my shoulder is much better, but it will take at least another week before I can think about workouts again. I am starting to get a little antsy, but then I have a spasm, and it kinda pours cold water on any ideas of exercise I may have. I'm just going to do what I need to do to get back to work.

In the mean time, I am doing the lightest housework I can and attending to coursework, of which there is plenty.

Ev'ning ladies :D

I hate when I'm a check in slacker. Cause if I'm slackin' on this, I'm def slackin' on working out and I'm in a non-communication mood.
I do hate those moods. They take so much out of me.
I'm doing a good bit better recognizing them and fighting them off, heck..I ain't 'bedridden-ing' myself anymore so that's huge....to me!

Anyway, I'm starting to pull out of it. I have been working out a minimum of 2x a week but gotta do more. I feel better the more exercise I get.

I started to do one of Lisa Nunziella's dance workouts today. HA!!!
The warm up was really good...then we started to try to dance...ohMY!
So I went to the instructional part of the dvd and tried to learn the steps. Not gonna happen.
Unfortunately for me, I can no longer do all the pivots and turns. I get dizzy too easy.
I was gonna do Zumba Beginner, but my DD came home and I was distracted.

But doing the warm up did get me started again. It felt sooooo good.

I also have a good bit of trouble with my right shoulder. I am still spending to try and find a good pillow.

Hope everyone has a good week and that we all get a little something in anyway. ;)
 
Kims My trouble is I don't want to check in until I have exercised. I had hoped it would make me exercise more but it just makes me check in less.:eek:

I was a day late but I did do Gym style back, shoulder and bicep yesterday.

I still love myfitnesspal. It has EVERYTHING in it's data bank. I hope I have accepted that eating 1200-1350 calories a day, lifting 3 times a week and walking more will allow me to lose about 40lb in a year. I hate that it is that slow. I usually can't stay in sustained losing mode that long.

Jann Stay off the ankle!!! Maybe you can do upper body sitting down.

Elliot graduated from preschool yesterday. She is growing up too fast.

Have not worked out yet today. Saying HI! My ankle is feeling better, yesterday I walked a lot even in the yard and no pain last night.

Jann, great idea! So I am just saying "Hi." I cannot do anything workout-wise until I get the okay from the chiropractor. I have to go back tomorrow--he told me I need two more treatments for the shoulder. I am really starting to get antsy now! Plus it's harder to sleep anymore.

I was going to get out and do some errands yesterday, but it rained all day long! The weather is nice out there now, so I'll get them done today.

Nine diet days in a row. Yea!

I didn't get legs in today because I started cleaning the house. I'm tired so I think that should count as something. I bought plants on Wednesday and I need to get them planted tomorrow.

I bought my annual plants yesterday. I plan to plant more today. I am not working out, this is not an excuse -- I have to get up and down a 1000 times today planting -- This will count as my workout. :p

Hi, Y'All!

Still not working out. Chiropractor says I have to come back on Monday. One side of my neck is very tight, and he did not want to attempt to adjust more than two times. I have not had a good day. I am worn out and have had more pain, so I finally gave in and took some Advil. I am sure I will feel better tomorrow. Whenever I have an adjustment, I am worn out for the rest of the day.
