50 and over March check in

Hi all y'all ladies :D

After a successful Monday at the first of the week, I kinda lost the rest.
It's so frustrating that when the first beautiful weather finally shows up here in the north, the pollen comes with it and then here come the headaches and naseau.
So aggravating.

I started feeling better today. I'm gonna get back to my workouts tomorrow.
My dilemma is do I want to continue to do the Slim Series, light weights/lots of reps or go to some Cathe/Firm types with heavier weights. I am convinced I need to work on my strength and building muscle....to burn fat and get tighter.

Decisions, decisions! :p

Jann, I just hate when illness interfers in my life! I have enough trouble getting busy with adding a cold, etc.
Magnolia, I love Tracie! Everytime someones posts they did a Tracie I immmediately think, 'oh.....I need to do that one...I love that one'!! :D
30 minutes is SO better than nothing! :)

Waves to iron-mom and Joan (iron-mom- are you Beth? so sorry I don't already know that!)

Hello everyone!

I am back from taking my father for a cornea transplant. All went well while I was gone, I had my iPad and on it I had am insanity workout from when I was in to that. So that's what I did since it required no equipment. I decided to start the rotation for the next 60 days and combine it with the STS meso 2 cycle for weights. I feel it already.

Kim, glad you are feeling better! Is it the Tracie long series that you like? I've never tried those.

Jann, I wish I had someone that could draw a yard plan. My DH loves to just move things around based on the health of the plant. He enjoys it but a professional plan would make a difference.

Magnolia, how's your back holding up these days!?

Joan must be tax timing it???

HI ladies!

Whew -- I can't believe how fast the weekend go.

Kim -- I read that the pollen this season is going to be at it's worst. With the warmer weather. {{Kim}}

Beth -- Welcome back. Glad to hear your dad is doing well. I move plants around all the time. I do like having a plan though.

Magnolia -- I KNOW. My neighbor just amazes me. She gives me inspiration daily.

Joan -- come out, come out, when ever you can. :p

I plan to start a mix of heavy weights and light cardio. I need to get my strength back to par. I can't have my back hurting lugging plants around.

Did I tell you guys while I was in California I saw my homeopathic doctor? (she has been detrimental in my menopause treatment) We talked about my weight. I can't seem to get in and stay in those size 10 jeans??:confused: She told me that honestly some people are meant to be a certain size, and I should just relax about it. If I feel good, I am eating well, and exercising. Relax. So you know what?? That is exactly what I have decided to do. Stop stressing over a jean size. Workout, eat good foods and relax.

Hi, Y'All!

Wow, how time flies when you're busy! It was quite a busy weekend and I did not have time for any workouts. But this morning I did a new one--Tracie's Reboot 2. It's great! I don't feel quite as klutzy doing her workouts the first time, and this one really kicks my behind. My weekly plan is 2 days of weights mixed with cardio, 2 days of cardio, and 2 days of deep stretching. I think that seems balanced to me for now.

Jann, good for you that you have a doctor like mine! My doctor is in Georgia, and she's terrific. It'll be time to see her this summer. In my case, however, I really do need to lose some weight, and she has been quite honest with me about that. Your doctor is right--to stress out over jean sizes is certainly something we all do, but it is kind of needless stress. I think it just aggravates things.

Kim, sounds like you have a good plan. Keep on doing the best you can.

Beth, your plan sounds great, too. I have never tried Insanity. I have all I can do to keep up with Cathe & Tracie. My hat is off to you!

Joan, only a few more weeks!

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning, Y'All!

I guess we all have spring fever! I think it is my favorite season of the year, notwithstanding the pollen and my allergies. There are wild rabbits who come into our yard in the spring--I love them, they are funny and cute. Plus, they don't eat our plants?! They seem to much prefer the grass. My grandson gets the biggest kick out of them when he visits! Anyway, they showed up the first day of Spring.

This morning I did Basic Step and Stability Ball Abs, which is on the same dvd.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the first days of spring wherever you are.

Have a great day!

Magnolia

HI all.

I am diffidently enjoying spring! I have my granddaughter today, we are just hanging out.
After yesterdays workout -- yard work -- I am beat today. :p I had my front yard done and I LOVE it.

It's been raining on and off today. Can't beat that after all the planting that was done yesterday. :D

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning, Y'All!

Jann, please post some pictures of your lawn if you have a chance. It was so beautiful last year, I'd love to see this year's. The weather here is beautiful today. I guess spring is really here!

This morning, I did Athletic Training (all of it ). I am probably going to be somewhat sore tomorrow (my behind is already smarting a little), but it also felt good and I needed to do it for so many reasons. Not the least of which was to prove to myself that I could. ;)

Hi, Joan, Beth and Kim.

Have a great day, everyone!
Magnolia

Printing a tax return so thought I would stop by to say I am still alive.

I started at 9 this morning. I will wait to review the return until tomorrow so at least I will be awake when I look at it. I seem to have more work than last year or it's like childbirth and you just forget after it is over.

I think I have 85-90 more returns to come in.

I really did think that in prior years I had time to post even if I didn't get much exercise in. I am still about the same weight.

Joan

Good Morning, Y'All!

Joan, just so glad to hear from you! Not much longer for your busy season, I hope.

I tried Tracie's Figure 30 Butt. You really do feel the muscles working with this one. There is a move I will have to modify, at least for now. But ;) I figure I can do almost anything for 30 minutes!

Not sore today, as I had thought I might be. Maybe I just need to work a little harder! lol!

Have a great day, everyone!

Magnolia

Hey Joan!! It could be like having a baby... better to forget.
Magnolia -- sure, no problem!! Here are a couple I snapped this morning. Now, it is only March 23... ;);) Tulips are coming up pretty, can't wait until they bloom on the side garden. The back is so green. Tree's are budding. This is 4 of 10 gardens.. .

Hi, Y'All!

Wow! It's beautiful, Jann! I'm sure it will be awesome when everything is in full bloom! Here, things are only beginning to bud, except for the jonquils which are already in full bloom at our house. I noticed a couple of trees beginning to bloom today. I love spring! It is truly my favorite season.

Haven't done anything yet, but I am definitely planning a nice stretching session within the hour. My shoulders and neck are stiff, and I am a little sore from the workout yesterday.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Magnolia

My lilac is in bloom, roses budding, clematis as high as the house. And we should have a last ice/snow storm. If we do everything will die but maybe this year we will just have a 5 month spring.

I bought a fitbit. It works like our armband Jann but you just slip over waistband or in front on bra. You don't even feel it and there is no monthly fee. For checking sleep there is a soft wristband. If anyone else gets one we can set up a group at fitbit.com and compete with steps taken. I always seemed to get comments when I wore armband and it wasn't always comfortable. I didn't like the $6.95 monthly fee either.

I checked that I wanted to lose 2lb a week and based on the amount of activity I had yesterday it said I could eat 486 calories. Since that means I used 1486 calories on that day it seems to be about the same as the gowearfit armband. I didn't do much except work. Since this is the first full day I have made an effort to walk more.

Joan

Still loving the fitbit and now I can eat 786 calories to lose 2 pounds a week. At least it is getting me to move a little more.

Joan

Hi ladies.

Sorry I've been a flake for a while. Hot flashes are back  but at least they are milder and I have fewer per day than a few years ago, thank goodness, cause that was a very difficult time for me. Sheeeeesh.

Joan, which fitbit did you get and where did you get it. Sounds very interesting and I need ALL the help I can get.

I need to buy a couple of workout dvds, Tracie Longs, to get me some motivation going ;)

I didn't get much in last week. Just very fatigued. Did some yoga last night and just don't know if I'll do anything tonight.
Good grief, spring is beautiful, but boy....the headaches I get during this time!!!

However.....I'm Never giving up!:D

I got the fitbit ultra. It has something in it now that knows when you are going up stairs. It was $99 at fitbit.com and I got it in a couple of days with free shipping (it said it would take a week). I paid about that much for the other armband but the $6.95 per month was annoying. It's not actually necessary but it is so much easier to wear and I have been wearing it every day. I have heard people say it is at Target now. It comes with a little base that is hooked to the computer and when you get within 10 feet it transmits info. There is a soft wristband to put it in if you want to wear it at night to check on your sleep.

Joan

HI all.
I've been in hiding the last couple of days. I am having a very low energy time of it. I may have caught a bug. :(

Joan the fitbit sounds interesting. I am going to look into it. I hate the 6.95 a month. gesh -- I wish after a year they would give us a break.

Kim -- {{{ Kim }}} double whammy! Feel better.

Hey Beth and Magnolia -- we should talk about the big bang. I love that show!!

Babysitting tomorrow.

Good morning, Y'All!

Kim, I always hated those "power surges." So annoying, but the night sweats were the worst for me. Not to mention that sensation of bugs crawling up your legs! Just hang in there and take care of yourself the best way you can.

Joan, I have been curious about that Fitbit. I am going to look into it, I think.

Jann, dh and I both really love Big Bang! We have to record it, however, since we have rehearsals on Thursday nights. They are all so funny!

I have been stressed and tired these last two days. On Monday, I was on my way to the grocery store to pick up a few things, when I was involved in an auto accident (fender bender). No one was hurt, thank God, but even though I was not at fault, but my car is the one with the most damage. Anyway, I have been dealing with the insurance company and the body shop. I am really tired, but I decided to do After Burn this morning to deal with the stress. I know everything will be okay, but it's just hugely aggravating!

Have a great and safe day, everyone!

Magnolia

Hi Everyone!

I'm using the Cathe app forum on my IPad so excuse the way it looks. I find that it autocorrects to the point that it drives me nuts!

Fitbit- I was stuck on that idea last summer but never bought it. I guess it is telling you Joan, what we learned from that low calorie diet. You really do have to scale way back to see results. If it doesn't give you a rash on the bra- I'm in. I'm going to check Target.

Joan and Magnolia-- I never followed the big bang theory until the last few months so I have enjoyed watching them on demand at night. DH and I literally laugh out loud with that one. And I can not think of another show that has that effect! The writing is hilarious!

Kim. This sounds little weird - but I got rid of hot flashes by going to hot yoga for a period of time. While I was there I would feel them coming on but still be dripping in sweat, and I haven't had one since! I don't know if you can try that or not- but it worked for me.

I picked up Tracy Anderson's boot cam book after reading about it somewhere. I'm still doing the insanity workouts but I have not done the STS like I planned. So today I did one of the Tracy Anderson workouts in addition to the insanity. I should be a rail!!
The diet in the book is about 750 calories a day. I may try it but like anything else, you have to be organized and plan ahead.

Beth -- I agree Big Bang is laugh out loud funny. :p I bought season 1 on DVD and the guy at the checkout said, "you like this show?" I said yes. He said I think it's dumb, I don' t get it. I thought to myself.. hmmm well, there you go.

Magnolia -- {{{{{{{{Magnolia}}}}}}}} I am so glad you are ok. These little wrinkles shoved in our lives can really cause stress. Good job on "working" it out. ;)

Kim -- hang in there.

Well, ladies I really have no excuses for not working out. I am just not. I MUST get back on track. Yard work is done until planting. I have my mammo and yearly today. Really  looking forward to that.

Beth I usually wear pants or shorts so I wear fitbit on waistband. Yes for me eating 500 calories a day and getting a whole 2lb a week weight loss just isn't worth it. I can't do it long enough. I have to find a way to use more calories.

I couldn't work last night because I was just too tired. I got a little over 8 hours sleep but still exhausted.

Back to work and then about 9:15 get DM breakfast.

Joan
