5-Disc DVD Player: Opinions Wanted...

Hi all!

I'm considering getting a 5-disc DVD player, especially now that I'm starting rotations spread over 3-4 different DVDs per day....

Any suggestions?

THX,
Chris.

I have the Sony 5 disc player and I really like it. It is nice to have a whole week's worth of discs loaded and ready to go. If you have any questions about it, just ask!

Thanks Tricia!

I looked into the Sony DVD players and they get top rating and very good price ranges. Unfortunately, I can't hack them to play all region DVDs... :( You see, Cathe's DVDs are Region 1 but here in Greece we have Region 2 DVDs so making the DVD Player region free is a must for me.

Panasonic, Yamaha and Denon look interesting, though....

Also, I was wondering how you arrange one workout across 2 or 3 DVDs, e.g. Biceps from S&H followed by Biceps from Gym Styles, Abs from Muscle Endurance, cardio from a premix on another DVD and so on... Is it easy to program it?

Cheers!
Chris.

Yeah, you really just need to know the Title & Chapter of the segments you need. There's a place here on the website that actually lists these for you, starting with the Intensity series. (I think it's FAQ, check the homepage, or maybe in Cathe in the news section.)

HTH,
Tricia

Got it!!! Thanks!!!

I found most of them, I will probably need to write down the rest by hand (like the Gym Style Series).

Do you have ANY idea WHY it is that regions even exist? There are a lot of (foreign) movies I want that will not play on U.S. dvd players. I don't get why manufacturers ever created this system. All dvds should be playable on any player anywhere in the world, with no problems.

I also wonder if this will change now that everyone's going to Blue Ray (?).

Who knows...

It all started back when the first DVDs came out so you couldn't buy movies from the States which weren't yet released in Europe and vise-versa.

Now, most DVD players can be hacked to play all regions (Philips is the easiest to hack) except on an iMac (PC can have their region settings "tricked").

I found a SONY 5-disc changer and the hacking is so complicated and requires a One-In-All remote control....

I might try eBay in the end!

:D

Oooooooooooook!!!

Just realized that Cathe's DVDs are Region Free, meaning that they will play on European DVD players without having to hack them.... LOLOLOLOL

So... I think it's settled... SONY DAV-X1V.

Thanks Diane!

I haven't thought of that!

Seems that all multi-disc DVD Players can be programmed to play only across one DVD. I'm looking into ONKYO now...

Chris.

ONKYO it is then!

Found the ONKYO DV-C600 for about $135 (used but in perfect condition) and the DV-CP704 (used also) for $156.60 both on eBay.

I think I will go for the cheaper one... ships from England.

Chris.
