40s - week starting 4/26/10

Ronne, after B&G you may not be able to sit on the toilet while talking on the phone. How's that for combining 2 different subjects? :) I was once on a conf call when I heard a toilet flush....eeeewwww!
How do I concentrate.....very difficult! The worse part is how loud people can be, (and yes I love to listen) and boy, oh boy, have I heard lots of 4 letter words, even the F one. then the elevator is RIGHT BEHIND ME.....ding, ding, ding all day long. I wasn't hearing the ding until the guy next to me pointed it out, now all I'm hearing is ding, ding, ding. Since I'm bored right now I should count how many dings in a certain time period :) Geez, don't these people know they should take the stairs?!?!?! Speaking of stairs, wow, I'm winded after the 4th flight, can get to 3rd ok, but the 4th, I'm huffing and don't want everyone hearing me breath hard. But I did get up and walked down and back up just to stretch....then to the bathroom where I caught my breath!

Lisa - thanks for that thought! Actually, not much DOMS today although my calves were a bit tight. I just did Low Max though so my legs really are fried now.
Don't you hate it when people point annoying things out that you haven't noticed? Then they get in your brain ... ding, ding!

We've got a Bank Holiday weekend here so three days off! My parents are coming down for the weekend, lots of stuff going on. Hope everyone has a good weekend and I'll see you all on Tuesday.

TGIF!

Hi, everybody! Today I did Power Hour, which I haven't done in ages. I'd forgotten that it was a high-rep workout. I really wanted a low rep, higher weight workout... maybe I should have pulled out one of my 40-something STS disks instead.

Ronne, have a great holiday! A long weekend -- how nice.

Lisa, how do you like Chalean? Not that I'm tempted to add to my collection; just wondering.

I couldn't work in your office -- the number of distractions would make me insane. It must be difficult to focus. Gee, you'd think that management would figure out that it makes people inefficient and they'd make some changes...

Speaking of work, DH asked me what you do at IBM and I couldn't tell him. "Something technical...I think" was what I told him. That's a guy for you! I would ask you what workout you did before I'd ever think to ask you what you do.... so if you feel like sharing, let me know.

Well, I've got to get some actual work done so I can feel caught up for at least a moment.

Mary and Murphy, I hope you have a great weekend too!

Today I need running endorpins and some Cardio Coach inspiration so I did CC7 workout...resulted in almost 5 miles! I've been feeling a bit blue the last couple of days and these just help me to put everything into perspective (the inspirational piece) and feel good (the running piece). I always feel so accomplished after I get done!

Ronne, enjoy your holiday! We still have a month before our first holiday (unpaid of course).

Kathryn, I like Chalean quite a bit. Not near as good as Cathe but much better than Jari Love. I'm amazed at the sweat pouring off of me with the heavy weights and compound exercises. Right now at IBM I mostly do DB2 Database stuff and JCL (Job Control Language) on the mainframe systems. They had a hard time finding people experienced in mainframes (all the younger people know the latest technical languages and stuff). Our area is responsible for reporting and metrics for all the various customers that have outsourced to IBM. DH is an architect on the Baxter account that is outsourcing to IBM. Does that help? I think talking about workouts is much more interesting!

I better get to work, it's been a very unproductive morning :)

Hey, I was just listening to a podcast called Fat 2 Fit Radio and they said on there that if you sit for a long period of time it is counterproductive, even if you workout before/after work, so get up and walk around. So, I've done the 4 flights of stairs 4 times so far today :)

Have a great weekend everyone!
