All I can say right now is Maddy is gone but not forgotten: 2/9/1997-3/22/10

I have no words to say except I loved her so much that I freed her from her
physical ailments. I'd like t think we put up a good fight but in the end, to me
the kindest thing was to let her go, she lives on forever in my heart.

Lisa - I am so sorry to hear that Maddy is gone but I know she is no longer in pain. Take care of yourself and know that your friends here will be praying for all of you.

Murphy

Quick post

Lisa, I hope you're managing okay. I'm very sorry for your loss and actually started tearing up when I read your post yesterday. :( Hang in there.

I did Imax 2 today -- with two risers. I need a day off tomorrow. Yesterday DH and I did push/pull, although I'd originally scheduled kettlebells. He got up to work out with me and doesn't know how to use the kettlebells, so I had to be flexible. It's not my greatest strength.... Today he slept in....

Well, off to work. Finally got the taxes in the mail; now I've got to catch up from everything I didn't do during that time!

Bye.

I just came to do a quick post and saw your message, Lisa. I'm so sorry. You fought bravely and made a decision when the time was right for you. At least, she's no longer suffering.
Keep well.

Thanks for the prayers. It was the right thing to do, it was just so horrible. I don't know how she crashed so fast. I asked for a sign that it was time and I got it, in the form of seizures. I don't know what to do with myself now and DH is out of town on business and I had to take Maddy to the vet to PTS myself.

I'm sick now, sick with grief, and now a stomach virus. I thought it was just because I'm upset, but just took my temp and I have a fever of 99.5. Dang I feel like CRAP.

Oh Lisa, I'm sorry you had to do that alone. It is such a difficult decision, You have been in my prayers. I hope you feel better, take care of yourself and let yourself grieve. It has been a long road for you and Maddy. Talk to everyone later. Mary

I found a 100 sit-ups program to go with the 100 push-ups program. Anyone interested? I started the 3-month STS program again and trying to stay on track. I tell you, the deeper I get into the 40's the more things that are falling apart!

Murphy

Hello

sorry, Murph - can't say I fancy 100 sit-ups! You're on your own there. ;)

Just a quick posting as work has got very busy this week. I'm doing short bootcamp/circuits this week. Done the two KCM bootcamp workouts which are just 30mins and leave me very sweaty and yoga so far. Planning to do Circuit Blast on Friday and probably MMA Kickbox tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Bye for now!

Quick post for me. My stomach virus appears to be gone, I think I broke the 100.5 fever last night (I was a sweaty mess). Things are quiet around here and I'm lost with no one to care for or talk to (DS and 17 yr old cat hang out in the basement all the time) and today I miss Maddy terribly. Instead of moping around I did MMA Kickbox.

We got a foot of snow last night, can you believe it? I'm not shoveling, I'm making my DS shovel whenever he gets up (he's on spring break and sleeping in)

Day off

It's my official day off from exercise but I wanted to stop by and say "hi!"

Lisa, I'm glad you're feeling better and that the nasty stomach bug is gone. You'll feel better about Maddy in time. You really do know when they can't go on, and then the kindest and most humane thing is to let them go. I really hope you feel better soon.

Murphy, 100 push-ups? 100 sit-ups? Gee, I wish I could make myself do it! And while we're at it, it would be great to do pull-ups, too. Things really do fall apart quickly after 40. My foot is such a problem, and I dread going to the doctor about it (I probably need surgery). It also takes longer to recover from a workout. I am constantly sore because I don't think I ever recover before the next workout. But I've heard that things get worse after 50, so I'm trying to enjoy this pace of deterioration before it speeds up!

I saw on the Wall Street Journal website (link below) that women need 60 minutes of exercise a day to keep from gaining weight as they age. Since I work out only 6 days a week, that means I need 70 minutes a day, just to keep from gaining!

I hope that link works.

Well, off to lunch. DD has a half-day of school, so she's home already. Bye!

Hi girls! Lisa, glad to hear you are feeling better physically. Give yourself time. Kathryn, I read that same article this am, 60 minutes a day?! I am all ready behind this week! Murphy, wish I could join you in your challenges! As soon as Cathe says we are done, I am done! Ronne, I like KCM, I just wish I liked her as much as I like Cathe! I need to go get some cardio in, I did PLB yesterday, legs are a little sore, Talk to you all tomorrow. Mary

Hello all.....today I did Circuit Blast (is that what it's called?) Sounds like Ronne and I have been doing some of the same workouts this week.

Kathryn, I did see that report....what struck me as even worse was Dr. Nancy Sniderman was talking about it on the news and said you need to keep your calories to 1200 a day....OMG, I eat more than that! Maybe that's why I'm not a skinny, skinny minnie, but if I were I'd be a very hungry skinny minnie.

Murphy, doesn't look like you are getting any takers on the sit-up, push-up challenge. I have to do something that is fun for me, and those are no fun. I got the Couch 2 5K app and I thought the goal of going through it every week would motivate me....well, the workouts are the same thing over and over, run 2 min, walk 90 sec, repeat 5 times, next week increase to run 3 min, walk 1 min repeat 5 times.....oh how boring!

Mary, this week has been such a blur for me. DH comes home today thank goodness, I just really need a big hug and shoulder for a bit. He had to leave in such a rush Monday morning (right after Maddy's 2nd seizure--she had quit seizing but was still unconscience ----they lasted 7 min---it was awful), so anyway we just need to re-group together....it's almost like losing a child, especially a dog because they are so loyal. Funny thing is that Maddy peed on his pants during her seizure and he had to fly with peed on pants.

Ladies, thank you so much for listening to my ramblings too...you all are the bestest!

Hi all

Well today I did MMA Kickbox for the second time. I do sort of understand some of the criticism of this one as the second and third combos don't seem as challenging as the first. I really like the ab work (I think all the MMA ab work is great, really varied). And having said that, I did burn 340 cal according to my HRM.

Interesting article Kathryn, although how I understood it was that the 60 mins refers to moderate exercise. So if you're doing Cathe, kettlebells, etc. for at least 30 mins 5 days a week then that should be enough. Anyway, who cares :p We're doing our best, we can't manage any more!
Oh and by the way, that film you mentioned, Zathura, was on TV at the weekend so I recorded it and me and DD are going to watch it tomorrow night. Thanks for the recommendation otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it.

Mary - what cardio did you go for then?

Hi, Lisa, thinking of you

see you all tomorrow

ps hi Lisa, posting at the same time, sorry but I had to laugh at the peed on pants!! I'm doing Circuit Blast tomorrow! Do you think it's like periods synchronising? Our workouts are synchronising?

Ronne... lol .... DH and I got a big laugh out of Maddy marking him before he left.....I'm one that looks for humor in crisis situations....it's what gets me through.

lol on the synchonization....mine is due soon....so if our exercise and periods both synchronize, that would be freaky. Thanks for the laugh!

Still doing STS and trying to psych myself up for the "100's". I was going to ask DH to join me but I have not decided. Maybe it will keep me honest.

Lisa - I too had to laugh at the peed on pants. :) Life is funny that way.

Hi girls! Today will be PUB, yesterday I did the step only from C&W, then the heavy bag w/o, was a good little w/o! Lisa, so good you will get to see your DH, how hard to do all on your own. Funny with the pee, Maddy left him a gift to remember her by! I like circuit blast, it is quick! Ronne, I like the kickboxing w/o, but I really enjoy the boxing one much more! Murphy, sorry you are on your own with the challenge, I admire you for making it! Kathryn, how are you? how is your stomach? Well, better get busy, I have track and Girl Scouts this afternoon! Mary

Hi everyone

I did Circuit Blast today for the first time. What a great workout! I was done in by the end. Think I'll be doing that one regularly.

Lisa - hope you have a big hug from your DH.

Murphy - your focus is impressive! Perhaps one of your kids would join you on the 100s challenge ;)!

Mary - Do you have a heavy bag or do you just follow along? I haven't even looked at that yet.

Well, I better get on with stuff before DD gets home. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy Friday! Today I ran 5.5 miles on the treadmill with Cardio Coach Press Play workout ---- lots of us do this on last Saturday of each month and this month Maddy is the honorary mascot. I've gotten so much support from everyone and I'm blessed to have all my cyber friends.

I agree about the MMA Kickbox workout....I save it for my lighter days since I know combo 2 and 3 will not be so hard, plus the drills are pretty easy too.
Boxing I like but still not as bad as some of Cathe's other kickbox workouts. MMA Fusion I've only done once, jury is still out on that one.

Everyone enjoy your weekend. DH got home (in same peed on pants) ---- guess I better wash them this weekend :) Sadly, last night we put away the final things of Maddy's that I wanted to hold onto and I've found people to donate the food/meds/supps to. Last thing is DH to return all the food we just bought last weekend. We are out the $125 we spent on meds at the vet last week, so I gave them to my friend whose dog has kidney problems but is handling it so much easier than Maddy did (my sensitive girl, just like her Mom). We are healing---I still tear up from time to time but I know it was for the best. Us humans are given such a capacity to love, thank goodness we also have the capacity to heal.....

Ooops!

Where did yesterday go? I didn't even have time to post! But I did work out (I need to get those 60 minutes in, after all)... I did Amy Bento's CIA kickbox video (what is the name? I forgot) yesterday. Today was Santa Monica kettlebell video. I think it counts as a 60-minute workout, even though it was closer to 50. That is just such a tough workout, and I shortened the rest periods from 60 seconds to 30.

Took the kids to see "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" last night (on a school night -- shame on me!), and we all enjoyed it. I'm not a huge fan of most kid movies, but there are a few that I like.

Ronne, did you watch Zathura? What did you think?

Lisa, I hope you're feeling better today, now that DH is home. And I agree with you -- 1200 calories? I take in that many in chocolate and wine alone! ;) I used to be skinny (I was only 108 when I got pregnant with DD), but those days are long gone! I really need to clean out my closet and donate those tiny things I'll never wear again. If I haven't fit into them in the last 10 years, I guess I never will. :( Besides, they're probably out of style by now, anyway.

Murphy, I'll do the 100 sit-ups with you, as long as I don't have to do the push-ups too! Let me know what the plan is -- my abs could use it! (As Cathe would say, "I'm being brave here!")

I don't know what I'll be doing (workout-wise) this weekend. DH will probably want to join me, so that limits my choices. He wants me to teach him how to do kettlebells  but I am so not qualified! I told him he could watch the AOS Clinic disk that I used when I was learning.

(I don't think he'll stick with it, so I'm not rushing out to buy more kettlebells.)

Okay, back to work for me. Now that the taxes are done, it's catch-up time. Have a great weekend, all!

Still with STS. Did the initial 100 abs test and I must be doing something wrong. I could do the 100 now. I have to re-read the how-to page. I was not doing the full sit-up as in from the floor to sitting up/chest to knees. Maybe I will try that tonight. Maybe I should just read the how-to page.
