40's Super-Fit in September

Good job on the work outs ladies. Nothing for me yesterday today and prob tomorrow. I was sched 3 days, expected to work 2 . Of them, ended up working 5. Yawn. Ready for bed.

Hi all

Jody - good to see you. All that work is good for the bank balance! Have a good rest.

Lisa - 6 days away is a long time. Well done on avoiding couch eating! (that sounds weird!) Did you have a nice lunch with BFF?

Mary - that sounds like a fun class. I keep looking at the clips when they get put up.

Murphy - I think all of us are finally learning to listen to our bodies.

Xtrain Legs done today. Work a bit quiet so am getting on with other tasks. (And not worrying about quiet work ;))
No great plans, might go and look at a few colleges which are specially open to the public this weekend.

Did an Xtrain legs premix today. I added the rear delts too. Funny, I got up earlier but goofed off longer - causing me to have to do a premix. ???

Mary - what classes are your favorite?
Jody - glad you got some work days in and I hope you can get some good rest.
Ronne - how are you liking the rotation? I like it so far.
Lisa - glad DH is coming back. Have fun.

Murphy

I'm making up today for my couch warming I did yesterday, I had that heating pad on my upper back all day it hurt so bad. It's uber chilly today (in fact some places saw a skiff of snow. With the cooler weather, I was like, uh, what do I have to wear? So this morning I cleaned out the closet and all my drawers. All dressier work clothes are GONE now, woot! And sorted through all the various sizes. I got rid of a lot, but saved some bigger jeans/pants and threw out the small sizes that I have to starve myself to get into (I wanna look nice and be fit but I don't want to starve myself forever!). With the colder temps, it's hard for me to get moving, I need to get into a cooler weather schedule :) I did 60 min of spinning and then took the dogs for a 2.5 mile walk. I had to figure out WTH to wear in the cold outside and keep the important muscles warm but try not to be too hot. So I layered a short sleeve shirt (wicking material ), a long sleeve shirt, and a new jacket I just ordered from Old Navy, it's a bit big, but. I didn't want it skin tight since I Knew I wanted to layer, it has thumbholes to keep your hand partway covered, but I still could have used gloves! And it has a nice hood (and I used it!). I really like the jacket, now I'm thinking of getting one in the next size down for when I don't layer a lot underneath, hmmm.

Murphy, I like the high intensitystep and step hiit on the Cathe live best. All about legs is good. I'm biased though, I'm not into boxing or too much UB weights --- just trying to stay away from those things that hurt still.

Ronne, I did do some before bed eating (but it was a protein bar), I was hurting so much all day I just wanted to go to sleep good, so made sure tummy was full, and took a couple pills :) BFF and I always have a good time, no matter what we do :)

Jody, money is always good!

Hello! Happy Saturday! Yesterday did X10 low impact, today did firm time crunch. Lisa, love clean closets! Such a chore tho! Murphy, I have really liked all the leg classes. I haven't done any of the step ones recently tho. Jody, hope you are resting up from all that work! Ronne, are you planning for your daughters future? Hope you are having fun at college! (I had a ball when I went to school!). Game was fun last night. Today cleaning, food shopping. Have a good day all! Mary

Good Evening,

I just wanted to jump on real quick and let you all know I did that 5k Color Run today and I finished and ran more than walked. I didn't beat my daughter but at least I did it.

Yesterday was Hiit 40/20. I skipped one set and modified two sets. I had to pause once or twice but overall I made it through the routine. I was very proud of myself. It really feels good to be getting my cardio capacity back. Today was TBT LB. I went heavy for most of it and was comfortable with the choice.

I am working towards losing 2 1/2 pounds by October 1st. We were at a baby shower yesterday and I ate but not too crazy. I am trying to stay focused on my mini-goal. I am thinking of seeing a nutritionist. Anybody have any thoughts on nutritionists?

Roxie - congrat's to you! Is it something you would do again?
Mary - I too love clean closets. I went crazy a few weeks ago and cleaned 4 of them back to back. Now when I look in there I feel so calm and happy. I was actually thinking of tackling DH's bathroom today. It is really bugging me and he does not seem to care.
Ronne - How were the college visits? What do you do there?
Jody - have you caught up on your sleep yet?
Lisa - you are on it with the exercise. Way to go.

Murphy

Good Morning,

Murphy-yes I would do a Color Run again because its fun but not just a regular 5k.

Jody-mommy DD other DD has asthma so she wouldn't have been able to handle all the powder they threw.

Congrats Roxie! That does look like fun! Glad you are back! Have all ready cleaned the house, procrastinating working out! Have to volunteer at a fall festival today with DD selling corn with the band. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Mary

I never made it here yesterday, had a busy day...I did LLA (was sore this morning from it), then went to Costco (broke the bank), went to get haircut with DH (our stylist has cut our hair for 28 yrs, she noted how 'good' I looked, YES!), went to Lush to stock up on lotion for the winter, went to Old Navy to get DH to look at clothes to buy--yes, I have to help him(ended up going home and ordering online), took dogs for short walk -- maybe about 1.5 miles?, and to pet store to get some food/treats for them. Whew! Today is a bit calmer, I did LICh (just when you are done with the step combos and finished product, then there are blasts, I always forget there are blasts and think I'm almost done), then a 2.5 mile dog walk, and grocery shopping (to get the few things that I couldn't get at Costco), back home and NAP! I didn't mean to nap, it just happened :)

Murphy, that is AWESOME! TBT LB is tough! We are finally bouncing back! You kicked cancer's butt! Yea you!!!!! I used to work for a nutritionist, she was more into selling her products though. The only thing I really learned from her is the benefit of using a probiotic--- it really helps keep me regular--TMI :) What are you looking to get from the nutritionist? They will look at your diet (so you have to write down what you eat) and make suggestions. But once you start writing everything you eat down you see how easily it is to go over your caloric needs, even with our Cathe workouts! For example, LLA, my HRM said I burned only 277 calories (I think I burn around 70 an hour doing nothing, so really my calorie burn was only 200 net. That doesn't give me license to eat anything (or more healthy stuff) than I need. The fitbit along with food tracking in the fitbit app is the best thing that I've ever used to get the whole picture of intake and burn.

Roxie, great job on completing the color run!

Mary, I feel less stress now that the closet is cleaned out! Now I can't wait to get the house back in order, hoping they are out by beginning of December!

Jody, you out there? RT will be here before we know it! I told my GF that I'm going to try to not overdo what I know will trigger my shoulder blade. She said, I know you, you are totally going to go all out.... haha, she knows me so well, so it's up to you to yell at me and keep me in check! Otherwise I'll make you join me at the pool sipping cocktails :)

Today was an X10 premix. I think I may pull this one out more often.

Lisa - I love Lush! I write everything down now so that is a good start. Plus, I track my steps and mileage. I am looking for someone to tell me if I am getting the right % of carbs, protein and fat for my body. I feel off at times. The percentage the post for the average person just does not work for me.

Waves to all!
Murphy

Hello all

Murphy - well done on the workouts, there are probably diets for people recovering from cancer, something that will help your recovery or make sure you're getting what your body needs. There are probably people who specialise in it (or even work in hospitals?). Yes, I'm liking this rotation, it's a good mix of old and more recent stuff. I've really been enjoying pulling some old cardio DVDs out.

Lisa - well done on the clearout. I love doing that kind of thing :). I'm probably too eager and throw stuff away too early! Sounds like a busy fun weekend.

Mary - no, I'm not that organised! :p It's something that happens once a year in various cities where buildings that are not open to the public generally, open their doors and you can have a wander round. There are also talks, guided walks, etc. The town hall was open, some historic offices etc. I've lived in Oxford for over 20 years and have barely set foot in any of the colleges so it was just a good chance to go and have a nosey!

Jody - work keeping you busy?

Did Hiit 30/30 on Sat, not as bad as 40/20. Day off yesterday. Had a nice wander round the city yesterday, it made a change to be a tourist in my own town.
Supposed to do PLB today. My morning got messed up as I had a surveyor here to measure up our bedroom for furniture, then it was almost time to go for lunch so I didn't get my workout in. Planning to do it later, if I can summon up the effort (working out after 11am is hard for me!!)
DH coming home with new car tonight - very exciting! (It's a company car, not ours thank goodness!)

Good morning! Today did a superset sculpt workout by Jessica Smith. Ronne, I know here we have so many things to do and see that we have never gotten to do and see. I bet it was fun being a tourist in your home town! Murphy, what X10 workout did you do? I have to get my cardio back also. I did the low impact one the other day and was breathing hard, I'm afraid to try the other ones now! Jody, did you work all weekend? Lisa, halfway thru September! How is the house coming along? Are they on track? Hi Roxie! Have to run into work, DD also has dentist appointment. Better get moving! Mary

Murphy, I wonder if maybe your body is holding onto some toxins from the chemo. Reason I say this is my massage lady helped a work friend thru all her chemo sessions (this lady fought BC for over 40 yrs). I can't remember the specifics of why massage helps and if it's during chemo or after or both. I see her tomorrow I can ask her any questions you may have of benefits if you want (I promise to try to remember).

Good Aftenoon,

I did Afterburn Express Intervals 1-10 1 set then went to the park and tried to do the run walk thing but my legs just wouldn't cooperate they gave me 1 out of 4 laps. I am only working 3 days a week now rumor has it they plan on closing October 1st but nothing has been said to me just hearing it from other people.

Took a 3.6 mile dog walk today and then did XT CBS and Tabatasize tabata 2 (basically w/u, tabata 1 and tabata 2). DH is now sick, he always manages to catch something when he is out of town. Hope I don't get it!

Mary, how was the band thing this weekend? That pic on FB was really good, found it interesting that you and your DH had your arm behind your back (was that planned?). I colored DH's hair today, I told him he is a pain wanting it colored (guess you don't have that problem with your DH, ahhahaha).

Ronne, working out after my daily shower is tough for me (because I have to take a second shower -- unless I did weights, which I'm still not doing as much as I would like, maybe in time).

Roxie, good job with getting in a workout.

Did a pedal power premix, 35 minutes. I am trying to push it a little more each time. She has a spinning workout once a week this month so I feel like I am accomplishing my goal of advancing in the program.

Ronne - you reminded me that I have "cancer cookbooks" that I can use. It has some good recipes. The recipes are broken down by whatever physical issues you are having (tired, stomach issues, etc.)
Lisa - You may be on to something. They talk a lot about flushing the body and I still have two more sessions to go (two more! yeah). I should be done around Halloween - I go every three weeks.
Mary - I did the low impact and fat burning circuits. I cannot remember if I did a third one. Maybe I blocked it out. :)
Roxie - sounds like you have been doing a lot of workouts. Legs feeling better today?
Jody - still at work? :)

Have a great day everyone.
Murphy

Hello

Whoops - was stuck on capitals and it looked like I was SHOUTING!

Murphy - sounds like you're making really good progress. The cycle ones are the ones I'm subbing as I don't have a bike!

Lisa - I imagine you colouring your DH's hair is quite amusing!

Mary - how was the Jessica Smith? Was it one of those deceptive ones?

Well, I did get PLB in yesterday, I was pleased I made the effort. Did Susan Chung Rapid Fire 3 today - just the steady state portion, 40 mins in total. It absolutely kills me, I think it's one of the toughest cardio I own, certainly the toughest kickboxing by miles.
Busy day with non-work things. Got to take DD's bike to get a puncture fixed, had a man come to look at some damp, then we're going to school tonight for a parent's evening. Life seems to be piling up with loads of things to sort out ...
