40's Super-Fit in September

Today was dog walk of 2.6 miles, AOLI, and BS Bi's. Just got back from massage, I wasn't hurting today when I went in, so ALMOST feels like a waste :) She said I was doing good, the attachments into the shoulder blade are not as tight (I've been trying hard to not overdo it and I have the massager to loosen them up). She said a TENS unit would be good for loosening and strengthening and she showed me exactly where to put the electrodes (Jody, I have a picture of where to place them, so I may need your help putting them on at the RT). She also said the muscles on left is catching up in "tone" to the right, it is at about 80%. I said 80% still sounds like quite a difference, what was it before, she said it was basically flat (ie, no tone I guess). She gave me some tips for dealing with the cold, she said, it's the cold on the neck that causes the rest of the muscle to tighten (ie, I feel the pain in my shoulder blade/rhomboid), reason being that the hardware is in the neck and the neck end of the muscle is cooling down too fast, so said to put on a scarf or something after a workout. This is similar to what I've been doing (draping a jacket over my shoulder like an old lady because I'm too warm to put the jacket on my arms). And if the muscle does tighten the TENS unit will help. Sorry for the novel but you guys are used to that from me :)

Murphy, Massage lady said you need to get to a massage therapist that understands chemo and get your lymph nodes flushed. I keep forgetting that you aren't done with chemo yet, you are doing so good at working out I thought you were done. Awesome job with the workouts girl!

Ronne, sounds like a busy time, you are almost to Mary status for being busy!

Hello! Today was LLA, no abs. Lisa, you are getting there! What a long road this has been for you. Ronne, sometimes I just want to forget everything I have to do, but the guilt would get me, so on I go! Yes, Jessica's workout appeared to be a light workout and it quickly caught up to me! She's a sneaky one! Murphy, I didn't realize you weren't done with chemo yet. I don't know where my head was? This has been a long road for you too. I'm glad you can see the light. Jody, are they holding you hostage at work? Roxie, when will they let you know if you still have a job? Have to get running with the kids and do some math homework! Mary

Murphy, also my massage lady said she finds that day 3 after a chemo treatment is the best time to flush and can be tolerated well then.

Good Evening,

Stress and not sleeping well has caused me to catch a cold so I am not feeling very well today and my legs are still sore so I wanted to take it easy so I did PiYo Lower Body Define and she did more work on the right side then the left then I walked on the TM for 30 minutes at a lower speed and my planks.

Murphy-legs are tight if I sit to much but they are getting there. So glad you are doing better.

Ronne-good job with your workout.

Mary-they probably won't I will just show up one day and the lights will be out.

Lisa-glad to hear you are getting better.

Hi all, I did Intensity today, just the step, first w/o in ??? days. I'm on my 7th day straight at work (not all 12s though) and two long nights coming up.
Roxie, that is funny/sad about showing up to lights out but sounds like what you have previously experienced there.
Mary, school in full swing then? Ha ha, Jessica is sneaky. I need to decide to apply for full time position or stay per diem at new place. This week of night shifts may help me decide.
Lisa/Murphy, one of my besties is a massage therapist who teaches lymphatic. Not that that helps anyone of you.
Ronne, keep your voice down. Is it the back to school time piling up or just life in general?
I run out of steam before the end of my posting.....I'm just trailing off...

Hi

Jodie - that's a pretty tough workout after a few days off, well done. Hope you can come to a decision about what's best. For what it's worth, I would have thought a full time job better for that bit of security, but what do I know?!!
There's a lot happening here over the next couple of months, there are a few jobs that need sorting out round the house, we're having new bedroom furniture fitted (and redoing the room), we've got visitors coming, two birthdays and my mum's 70th in November which I've been organising. So, it's just a lot of stuff at once!

Roxie - hope you're feeling better.

Mary - how's your recovery going?

Lisa - good workouts! It sounds like you might be getting to the end, how fantastic is that?!

Another quiet work day, so I'm doing jobs instead. Cleaned the floor, dusted cobwebs, done some washing and I'm going to clean the walls a bit as well.
Did HR, it was hard. It seemed really quick, no breaks between exercises, I paused it a couple of times just to catch my breath.
Going out tonight with BF. We're going to see a live satellite feed of a film premiere in London, with a performance and Q&A afterwards. We're meeting up to eat first as it's going to be a long night!!

The full time job is night shift, plus it is a long drive, but great benefits and pay good. If I take ft there, I'm likely to stay and become a lifer.
Hmmmm
House stuff sounds fun, how was new car?
Bbl

Hi all! GG done today. Ronne, have fun tonite! Jody, full time! That's awesome! Then you won't have to be killing yourself all over! Roxie, did you get some sleep? Lisa, what are you up to today? Have to get DD to band and do some straightening up around here. Might not make it back until Saturday, tomorrow is powder puff football game, DD is playing, Friday is football. Just lots of running around! Mary

Took a rest day yesterday. Today I meant to do Hiit DWP but hit 40/20 instead. I am thinking that it seems so familiar - I guess it should, I just did it last week! My heart wasn't really in it and I did not give it my all until about 1/2 way through. Now I feel bad for goofing off.

I am actually done with chemo, traditional chemo. The treatments I get now are not considered chemo because they are not attacking cancer. The treatment is attacking the protein the cancer was feeding off of and doing whatever it does to prevent it from overgrowing and etc. By the way, I have two left. I expect to be done around Halloween.

Lisa- thanks for the massage info. There is a woman around town that does it, I have to find her info.
Jody - that is a hard workout, great job.
Ronne - the live feed movie sounds interesting. have a great time.
Roxie - I hope you feel better soon.
Mary - powder puff football, I wish we had that around here.

Murphy

Hello

Murphy - good to see you. Rest days are good as well! There's nothing more annoying than picking up the wrong workout.

Mary - What is powder puff football?!!!

Jody - that is a tough decision. I wouldn't want permanent nights, especially with the driving. I can see why you're torn.
I'll be taking DD to gymnastics in the new car today so I can give it a proper test. It's quite sporty but basic. It's an Audi A3, with no extras at all!

Had a great time last night, the cinema was sold out. Also good to catch up with BF.
Managed to find some work for the end of the month which is good news.
Another sub for me today, did an old Christi Taylor hi-lo. I did about 50 mins in total, I gave up with 10 mins to go of the second section cos I'd just had enough.

Hi ladies! I never made it here yesterday. I was up early yesterday (3:30am) but I did walk the dogs 4.1 miles yesterday and then was just blah and HUNGRY, so I went out to eat a good burger (CB & Potts) with DH, yum! Sometimes you just need to eat a good hearty meal. Then came home and fell asleep on the couch. THen feeling guilty, I did GS Tri's, I'm using the same weights as I did before surgery! I'm wondering if it's been cold blasts on my neck causing most of the issues (I do know pushups and lots of weight on my arms still can cause muscle knots so I'm not doing those). Today I walked the dogs 2.8 miles and then did 60 mins of spinning. I'm really trying to be careful about the cold wind on my neck (even a fan blowing on it) so I found that if you cut off the bottom of the t-shirt it is like an infinity scarf. So I walked and spun with a t-shirt around my neck, it almost looks fashionable (if I can get past the fact it's a t-shirt around my neck), and I think it may be helping (I do know it helped with the outside walk). I may make a fashion statement at the road trip :) I'm a bit worried of air conditioned air blown by a fan on it. I went to H&M to get me some lighter weight scarves for wearing in the summer (like when you are at a restaurant and air is blowing on you), and for spring/fall.

Ronne, every time I think of an Audi A3 I think of that book series of which I can't remember the name of now, all I can remember is the S&M and the guy's name is Grey. Jeez, the mind is gone! Anyway, what color did you get, such a fun little car.

Murphy, rest days are important! But I think that doesn't mean a sit down on the couch for the day and I have to remember that :) I'm sure you'll make up for the half hearted effort, I sure did with the spinning today, I was determined to make up for yesterday!

Jody, you poor thing, you usually are so peppy, this job is sapping your energy. With the list of pros/cons for the different jobs an assigning a number of importance, maybe you'll figure out what is the best decision for you.

Good Evening,

Yesterday I did KCM's Circuit Blast 1 and planks then we went to the lake for what is probably the last time its just getting to cold. Today they finally told me they sold and after October 1st I no longer have a job. It was storming here from 1:30 am until 7:30 this morning so I didn't sleep very well and I starting coughing and got sick. I will do my planks in a little bit.

Mary-I did get some sleep Tuesday night not so much last night.

Lisa-I don't like the cold and my bones don't like the cold. You are thinking of Fifty Shades of Gray.

Ronne-good job with your workout.

Jody-sounds like a tough decision I tried night shift not my thing.

Murphy-its ok to not give your all to a workout when you are not feeling it.

Hi there

Roxie - sorry to hear about your job.

Lisa - I had no idea about the book connection!! Its a sort of grey/bronze. It's great to drive, got a bit of oomph and corners well (and that is the limit of my car knowledge!!)
I like the old bit of t-shirt round the neck solution, much better than going out and spending money! :D

PUB done today. One more workout for this week and I'll have done week 3 of the rotation.
No great weekend plans again, town tomorrow (optician for DD, just a standard check-up). Going to look round a DIY shop to get some colour ideas for the bedroom.
That reminds me, must go and put some wine in the fridge for tonight!

Today was 3.25 mile dog walk and Rockport Knockout. I was glad to have my t-shirt scarf on the walk as the wind picked up and on my sweaty skin was a bit cool! Normally kickboxing workouts would make my shoulder blade hurt, will see how it is today, I made sure to wear my scarf (it shifted around a bit with the punching).

Roxie, well, at least you know for sure now, what's your plans?

Ronne, what fun, redecorating a bedroom! The Audi sounds nice, I really like that brand (I used to be a Honda girl thru and thru).

Jody, thought of you today, someone was walking a corgi, she said to me, the shiba is my 2nd favorite breed, and I said I guess corgi is you fav :)

Good Evening,

I did KCM TLC Boxing this morning and planks at work. I don't have any idea what I am going to do thinking about becoming a para at the school.

Did TBT UB today. Went up in some areas and could have gone up more in others. I am trying to stay focused on not overdoing it. I do feel good that I was able to up the poundage overall. I am trying for one pound increase per month. My shoulders are still week, but much better than before.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Murphy

Good Morning,

I did a 2.30 mile run/walk in the park this morning then came home started the laundry ran the dishwasher and dusted now I will do my planks.

Murphy-you are doing great just listen to your body.

I did afterburn today, I forgot which premix I liked and I picked the wrong one! I did Random burn, that was the whole DVD plus 2 rounds repeated, ugh, I was tired! Walked dogs for only 1.8 miles. My shoulder blade is doing well, very little to no pain, I guess keeping my neck warm is working. Strange to have to keep it warm in the air conditioning (house is set at 75). And no fan for any workouts, talk about sweating!

Murphy, good work, hmmm, you have week shoulders, I have weak back between shoulder blades, Mary has hip issues, Roxie has leg issues. Surely if we took a part from each of us we could make the perfect fit woman :)

Roxie, It was probably time to get out of that place.

Hi ~~
Ronne, what colors are you thinking of? I need to paint my bed and adjoining bath. I might do a brown shade in the bedroom and blue in bath. Those appeal to me but I'm not one to get into decorating and putting a whole look together. Enjoy the car!

Roxie, I'm glad you at least know. What is a para? Good luck w/ it all. I don't like night shift either but it might be my way into a full time position. What about working as a monitor tech or something in ekg? Is that feasible or of interest?

Murphy good going on TBT. It must be overwhelming to think of all the possible adjuncts and aspects of your health care. It would be for me, I'd question everything, try everything, then question all the crap I was trying to do.

Lisa, I think of you when I see your breed on TV (there is some commercial now that has one, all I remember is the dog, not the product, ha.) I might get another few Corgis someday. Was the Corgi fat? They are chow hounds and hard to keep trim.

Mary, how was the game? How is work going?

I actually did a workout today. KCM SS 2, lower body. I felt pretty good, I slept part of yesterday and went to bed at 8 and slept til 7. I had worked 9 days/nights in a row (not all 12s though). I spent today doing laundry and picking up clutter etc.

Did an X10 premix, hi/low and fat burning (?) it was good until my 6 year old came downstairs and threw everything off. Thankfully I had only 10-15 min left. I did add on medicine ball abs from ab circuits. I must have done them wrong because I was not feeling it like I usually do - but let's see how I feel tomorrow.

Jody - I cannot believe you have the energy to workout, way to go. I hope you can get some regular hours - assuming that is what you want.
Lisa - I am glad you found something that works for you. I know how important that is.
Ronne - how is the new car?
Roxie - do you rec the daily sets of planks? I was thinking of incorporating it into my routine.
Mary - how are things going?

Have a great day everyone.
Murphy
