40's singing the winter blues

Hi ladies! I don't know where my energy came from but I did CLB and liked it (this is the 2nd time I've done it). I did same weights as Cathe but only used 1 riser for cardio segments, but 3 for the strength segments where the step is used a couple of times.

Roxie, poor little baby! If I had a sore throat the last thing I'd want to do is scream! Knock on wood, we've been healthy this winter, been washing hands a lot and trying not to touch face.

Murphy, are you feeling any better?

Jody, I'm not much in the kitchen. and I have zero creativity with food. I am looking to make some whole raw "treats" today with some recipes I found online. I looked in my vitamix recipe book and none of the soups sound appetizing. I'm not much of a veggie person (bad I know), I do drink a greens drink every night and the nutritionist I know said that was good. I do need to get fiber in somehow, anyone have any added things to up the fiber (besides veggies!) I'm thinking flax seed in my smoothies.
I also wonder if it's the 1/4 mile bursts I'm doing on the elliptical through the day helping banish this weight. I didn't have my 2 miles in yesterday, but at 8pm, I thought, it only takes 3 min to do a 1/4 mile, I can knock out the next 3 cycles pretty quick. Hey, isn't wine a fruit? lol

Waves to Mary, Ronne and Murphy as she gets ready to jump on the elliptical for a little burst. Hoping that keeps my metabolism revved thru the day

Today is a splurge day....sushi! DH doesn't understand how white rice is bad for you.....since he's japanese they think of white rice as a staple. I will get one roll with no rice! He doesn't like that one, but I do.

Hi all! Lisa must have sent some of her energy this way! I did BS bis & tris, house all ready cleaned, ran some errands. I feel accomplished and I read the paper too! Lisa, enjoy your sushi. Jody, little one plays basketball, the coach entered them in 3 tournaments along with their regular games. Kind of overwhelming along with practice, nice group of boys tho. Your workouts sound hard! Why is salad a nono? Roxie, hope the baby is feeling better. Ronne, enjoy your rest day! Murphy, hope you are on the mend. Have to get to Target, we have a party this afternoon, have a good day! Mary

They've given us all of our food -very high quality, fresh, organic, gluten free + big variety. We are supposed to stick to the program without tweaks. The plan just seems a little shy of plants. I've cheated a few times by eating less of the bean/lentil/quinoa/rice provided in the meal and putting the protein atop a very clean veggie salad.

Lisa, I love having a greens drink. I agree, your bursts are probably really helpful. I know that years ago at the beginning of my Cathe years, when I added the sash workouts with all the blasts in them, along w/ sprints in my jogs, I lost body fat.

Mary 3 kids keep a mom even busier than 2! Your little one keeps slipping below my radar.

Roxie, sore throat? eww. I've been lucky to dodge most illness- maybe a Gift since I was stressing over my mammo and pap 6 months ago.

My dad was just here this weekend so I had the AC on to keep sleep upstairs comfy for him. 75 and gorgeous outside. You see, for me, it is a fine line between freezing he** and beautiful outside.

Oh and whose idea was it to pile the thin mints in front of my food in the fridge?? Darn kids. Just kidding, 2 weeks of clean eating and I'm not very tempted.

Good Afternoon,

I have packed up a few more things and I thought we were going to take a load to storage but DH doesn't look like he is going to do anything today so there isn't a whole lot left that I can do. I am going to try and get a stretch in later. DD sent a picture of GS this morning and he looked pretty happy. I found her memory book when she was a baby so I told her when she did everything except sitting up for some reason I didn't write that down.

Lisa-good job with your workout today.

Jody-75 send it my way.

Mary-you are a busy lady.

I am feeling better, but still have this cough. I must have some of Lisa's energy too, I did loads of laundry, some work around the house, organized some girl scout stuff and more. Of course there was no workout in there, but I managed to get my 10,000 stes on.
waves to all.

Jody-what is a sash workout?

Murphy

Hi all

Snow has finally cleared, but has been replaced with torrential rain. We could hardly hear the TV on Sat night cos it was raining so hard! Good to take a rest yesterday, I'd done 11 straight days which is unheard of for me!
Today was CLB with Core 2. I definitely prefer Core 1 to 2. 2 is a bit too frantic for me. Had an audience while I was doing the core - looked up and could see the workmen on one of the houses at the back peering in!!

Jody - ooh those temps sound lovely. It must be great to have all your food sorted out for you - don't even have to think about it.

Murphy - glad to hear you're on the mend.

Roxie - hope you enjoyed a lazier day.

Mary - how was the party? sounds like a busy weekend!

Lisa - well done. I like CLB as well. Yeah, but sushi as part of the Japanese diet is fine as their diet is so healthy. So, I'm with your DH on this one!! :p What a good idea to do little bursts during the day. I try and go up the stairs more frequently than I used to.

Hi girls! Today did PLB and the hip thrusts, I'm gonna get my butt nice and round! Ha! That's the plan anyway! Ronne, I think your rain came this way, all the snow is turning into a slushy mess. Did you wave at they guy? Once when I went for my annual a guy was washing windows and the dr wanted me to get in the stirrups? He said that he couldn't see in! Last time I went to him! Jody, that would be nice not to have to worry about food, do you like it all? I would have to run from the girl scout cookies tho! Murphy, glad to hear you are feeling better. Roxie, glad to hear the baby I well. Did you get much done yesterday? Have to go get my mammogram today, wish me well, always makes me nervous. Have a good day! Mary

I did HS, in between the cardio and conditioning I put in Intensity Bootcamp, came it at an hour. I felt so light doing the jumping jacks w/o the weighted gloves in Intensity Bootcamp, makes me think about doing the cardio portions with no hand weights in HS and grab some kind of weight for the boxing portions. Any ideas on that one? It has to be something easy to pick up/put on and put down. I might have to rig something up, hmmmmm. For the weighted portions I went with 5 lbs, felt a bit in the neck, will see later tonight. I also found a fleece blanket I made the kids when younger to lay across my upper body (and yet be soft by my face) at night. I think it's the humidified cold air in the bedroom setting into my neck that is injured from the car accident when I was 5. You know, how "cold" settles into an injured joint? My sinuses need humidity, my neck doesn't! lol

Ronne, that is too funny about the men looking in. I have windows up high my neighbors can look into if they want, I still walk thru the house naked, if they are looking then that's their fault! But I'd be mortified if I saw them looking! We had rain Sunday too, rain in January is NOT the norm here! But not a torrential downpour (that would be really odd for us). I prefer core1 to core2 also, they both have a dread factor, I much prefer the core part in HS.

Mary, you aren't one of those that have flat butt syndrome are you? I do have my womanly curves that I wish wasn't so curvy at times. I got my mammo reminder too, I'm postponing, that's one area I haven't had a problem in...knock on wood. I'll send my good boobie vibes to you!

Murphy and Mary, since you took some of my energy, did you do some of my cleaning and laundry too?

Roxie, it's a bit frustrating when you want DH to do something and they are obviously in relax mode. I try to remember there are times I want to be in relax mode. But what irritates me is that I have to always figure out what's for dinner, it's amazing how men never seem to think about this each day and doesn't put importance on it UNTIL THEY WANT TO EAT!

Jody, amazingly I've never been tempted by girl scout cookies, they can be in the house and I still wouldn't want them. Honestly I never understood why everyone liked them so much. Guess it's good I didn't have girls! The boys was cub/boy scouts for a while, got tired of the popcorn thing, didn't like that much either!

Good Afternoon,

I have had a busy day here at work and I injured my shoulder again because these people can't lift. DH and I did end up taking a load to storage because they showed the house again so we needed to leave. I will do legs sometime today.

Lisa-Dh fixes supper so sometimes I don't have to worry about that. He asked me yesterday afternoon if we were taking a load and I said I was waiting on him to do something.

Mary-good luck with your mammogram.

Ronne-I wish we could get torrential rain we really need it. I would have probably said something to that guy.

Murphy-good job with getting all that work done I have to constantly keep my house clean its a pain in the butt.

Up all night coughing and did not want to get up to exercise. Bought cough medicine so hopefully I can rest tonight. Waves to all.

Murphy, ugh!
Mary, Yea!
Ronne, wth??? Like casually noticing b/c you were in his line of sight or going out of his way to watch?
Roxie, dang it to injury.
Lisa, did you say if you had a nice dinner w/ hubs? Is he traveling a little less lately?
I didn't workout on Sun and today was non workout day, hit the barre tomorrow. Love my chem students.

Hello

Mary - that's terrible!! No wonder you didn't go back! Glad it was good news on the mammo.

Lisa - I don't want to make you jealous but my DH does all the food stuff in our house. He plans the meals (we take it in turns to shop), does all the cooking and the cleaning up after. I try to cook about once a week but don't usually manage it. And never think about meals until I want to eat something!!

Roxie - take it easy with the shoulder!

Jody - they're building a loft extension on the house behind, so there are workmen on the roof, we've got glass all round the back of the house, so it's kind of hard to avoid, especially if I'm lying on the floor!!

Today was HS cardio only. Tried it with the 1lb gloves (would that be about the same as those boxing gloves?). It was fine actually, although I was a bit more cautious on the punches as I didn't want to risk damaging something. So, Lisa, do you mean you want to wear boxing gloves and hold a weight for the cardio part? Not sure what you mean.
Planning to go and see Zero Dark Thirty tonight.

Good Morning,

Only in Kansas can you go from 77 degrees one day and snow predictions of 1-3 inches the next. Its cold here today. I will do BS Bis and Tris and make up the leg work for some reason I just don't like working legs and then I am going to make sure the house is perfect because all the realtors are coming between 10-12 tomarrow so every agent knows what it looks like. Dh is suppose to be patching walls and touching up the paint.

Ronne-that movie is suppose to be good. I am planning on wearing 1lb gloves the nex time I do HS.

Good morning! Today did the Firm, just felt like switching things up! Roxie, good luck with the realtors, how is your shoulder today? Ronne, that movie looks intense! Your DH sounds like a keeper! Mine isn't home too often in the evenings, with the station and school, so the kids and I keep it casual, when he's home tho, that's a different story! Jody, do you get sore from these workouts? Can you sense a difference yet? Murphy, hope you are on the mend. Lisa, you at work today? No, no pancake butt here, but I sense things are drifting away and I want it back up where it belongs! How's your neck? Back to work tomorrow, we will see how that goes! Running around today, have a good one! Mary

AB today, took it to only 8 lbs with any overhead work.

Ronne, What I was trying to say is, I need to do the cardio with no weighted anything, but I'd like to do the boxing part with 1 lb weights. So I need a quick change option (the zippers on the Cathe gloves are not quick--for me). I wish I had a cooking husband :( When we were first married, I had to have my tonsils out, I was so sick, I asked for chicken boullion, he couldn't even boil the water enough to dissolve it! Then after about a week of being famished, I was craving McDonald fries, I asked him to go get them and ask for no salt, OMG, I about died when I ate them (guess it wasn't his fault on that). I'm surprised he stayed married to me! Not a good way to start a marriage!

Roxie, we got a couple inches of snow, everyone forgot how to drive in it, news says roads are a mess, for only a couple inches! We haven't shoveled all winter.

Jody, yes, DH has been home more so far this month---not that he likes the account he is working on. He's been singing the woes of offshore workers, our industry has changed dramatically, we both don't like our jobs so much. Enjoy the barre tonight, sounds like this semester is going better?

Mary, I'm trying to pick the day that I'll torture myself and go into the office to show my face. HAve fun running around, we are sending cold weather your way again!

Good Afternoon,

I did legs except I skipped from the chair part until the stretch I had acid reflux during the night so my throat hurts a little and my stomach is upset. Its 36 degrees here today after yesterdays 70 degree weather no wonder everyone is sick.

Lisa-all we have to do is get a sprinkling of snow and people forget how to drive.

Lisa, re semester, my philosophy is expect the worse, hope for the best, just wanting to get thru it all without incident
Mary, not sore but losing wt on diet, just a few pounds a week so far with my cheats.
Rox, hope the walk thru brings lots of showings.
Murphy, feel better yet?
Ronne, at least he wasn't a genuine creeper. and then there is the awkward moment when your eyes meet. lol.
Good workout today. going for "long and lean" not "bulky". To me that is just not very muscular. Muscles don't know to grow long not lean??
wait i mean muscles just develop along a continuum and long and lean just means not developed.

No w/o, going into the torture chamber today. neck hurt a bit overnight so 2 days of little bit of UB in circuits was a bit too much (even with lighter weights) :( I will have to baby it longer and hope my LB holds up :)

Good Morning,

Woke up to 3-4 inches of snow on the ground so waiting for the realtor to call and cancel the walk through guess I should get ready anyway just in case. I will do BS Bis and Tris and AOLH Pemix 1 + Core 1.

Lisa-sorry to here your neck still hurts.
