40's singing the winter blues

Hello

Roxie - bad luck about the weather! That's a full-on workout!!

Lisa - good luck with work. Sounds like you're going to have to take it really easy on UB. What about non-weighted exercises like push-ups, triceps push-ups, etc? I see what you mean now about the boxing. Sounds like too much faff to me! Unless you did all the boxing bits first and then cardio or vice versa?

Jody - I know what you mean about long and lean - I always think they're just talking aobut tall, slim people!

Mary - hope work's not too much of a shock (it's probably a rest for you with all the running around!)

CBS today - 2nd time round seemed quite a bit tougher than the first time. I increased weights on a couple of things. Tried using the weighted gloves for a couple of things but getting them on and off slowed me down (Lisa!). For the past few days, I've not been able to stop thinking about food!! I just want to eat all the time. I've just eaten a nice bowl of pasta salad with peppers and I'm thinking about food again!! Going to have to try and get some healthy snacks from the supermarket at the weekend.

Film was really good - I recommend it. Very gripping.

Furnace at 58, heat still running because it's cold outside, blow drying my hair, got too hot, took off pants (can't take off shirt because I'll ruin my hair), heat still running even though I turned it down, got in front of fan (thank goodness I was too lazy to put fan away from summer, blew dry my hair while blowing fan up my shirt, still hot, drank ice water trying too cool off from inside out, still hot, put pants on and went outside in 15 degree weather, steam came off of me I swear, I'm starting to cool down. Now that was one big hot flash and I still would like to be outside for a bit more but I'm scared I could get sick with wet hair in 15 degree weather covered in sheen of sweat.

Hi girls! Today I did tabatasize on the TM, actually worked out pretty well, I ran during the tabatas then when they did the step recovery I walked on an incline. I also did the 100 rep challenge for triceps, only used 5lbs and thank goodness! That was a tough one! Lisa, sorry about your hot flash, they are miserable! It was 62 here last night when we were sleeping, a long sweaty night! Tonight is supposed to be 20? At least the sleeping will be better! Ronne, I am with you on the food thing! I wish I craved fruit, vegetables, but no! My mind is going to nachos, tacos, brownies, etc! I was good tho and had some cheese! And a banana, NOT what I wanted! Roxie, did they come through the house? Good feedback? Murphy, how are you? Jody, maybe they say "long and lean" so you will extend more? How many more semesters of school will you have? Work was a bit of a shock to the system! I got it done tho! Haha! Hope the evening goes well, Mary

Good Evening,

I did Xtrain BS Bis & Tris need to do AOLI and core but its so cold in the house I don't want to do anything.

Mary-no feedback from the realtors but I know they were here I could see footprints in the carpet.

Lisa that hot cold frenzy post made me smile.
Ronne, I saw Life of Pi in 3D w/ dd on Sun eve and noticed the zero movie poster but no idea what it is about. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Pi was good.
re food, I replied to survey about the food program and was honest about my cheats, so I hope I don't get kicked out.
Yesterday was my classmate's turn to have crappy day at clinical, he's on the verge of leaving. I'm putting him in a pink bubble of happy light and love.
Anyone else read Barbara Kingsolver? I love her writing. I'm stealing the line, "Here we go, into the quicksands of stupid."
Murph I hope you got some sleep w/o coughing.
I am so tired from M T W. I ordered a new Yerba Mate tea It turned out to have be a blend including catuaba. Googled catuaba. Stimulant and aphrodisiac- improves orgasms. Uh, ok, I don't know if that is going to be all that helpful today while I'm watching power points and thinking about removing respiratory secretions, but ok. lol.

Hi there

Jody - love the new stimulant tea!! Should keep you on your toes. So you're still doing all the mad things that you took on are you? Working as well?!! The Lacuna was one of my favourite books of the last couple of years. That's the only one of hers I've read.

Roxie - you got a workout in anyway so don't beat yourself up

Mary - that's a clever alternative. Yeah, I'm thinking of having some banana and greek yogurt. I managed to get through yesterday without any rubbish.

Lisa - hope your day got better!!

Today was Legs, all sections premix. It's getting better, I didn't want to cry by the end.
Anyone read any Murakami? I'm reading 1Q84 at the moment. Coming to the end of book 2 (it's a trilogy) so will have to go out and buy the third one.

Hi all! Today did SC, those sit up/push ups at the end are killer! Triceps are sore from yesterday. Ok, yesterday 62, today 28? Cold and snowing, crazy! Ronne, I never heard of that author. Im almost embarrassed to tell you what I'm reading right now! I am a fan of chick lit, readin Jill Mansell and loving it! Jody, hope you are enjoying lecture! Haha on the tea! Lisa, how are you doing today? No hot flashes for me last night, hope you fared as well. Roxie, hope they deliver a buyer! Hi Murphy! Basketball tonite, back to work tomorrow, have a good day! Mary

I slept in uber late today....7:30, so got a late start. Did AOLI, OMG the furnace automatically raises temp at a certain time, once I figured out why that's why I was so hot and the furnace running, I yelled out to DH 'turn the heat down!'. He thought I was yelling at him for turning it up, because he said he didn't TOUCH IT! I explained I knew that, please turn it down I"m overheating here! Was near the end of the w/o anyway, got done and got into a cold shower! DH says I need a replacement to my internal thermostat, I couldn't agree more!

Mary, I didn't wake up sweaty last night, but during the day has been worse lately. I totally broke out in a sweat at work, came back from my .5 mile little stroll (had even stopped outside to cool off a bit), got to my desk and the water started running off of me (how embarassing wiping yourself down right in full view of everyone, while perched in front of my desk fan). I just sat there trying to calm myself down and cool off, my team lead asked if I was ok (guess I looked weird?), then the guy next to me puts a coat on! I said, you have got to be kidding and everyone looks at me saying that they were cold earlier (I have the fan going all the time since summer). My sister is surprised I'm this bad with being on HRT. I've always gotten warm easily but this is ridiculous!

Ronne, I have that book and I'd like to read it someday...didn't know it was a series. I really like the dysontopia books, what is the genre of that one? That movie was be on our to rent list once it's out on dvd. Mary, I've never read Jill Mansell either (but I have them!) I think I've been reading more YA lately, for some reason, maybe to feel younger? Being hungry is a constant state for me lately, when I'm uber hungry I figure I'm getting close to losing another lb.

Jody, I'll have to remember that quote, I like it! Oh who am I kidding, I'll never remember it!

Roxie, sometimes it's so cold in my house I don't want to w/o either, want me to send some hot flashes your way?

Good Afternoon,

I went to work this morning and I am starting to be like Lisa I hate going there. We are waiting for some guy from Medicare to accredit us but he hasn't shown up yet so I have been working everyday. I emailed our realtor to see if we can get some feedback from the group that was here yesterday.

Lisa-sometimes I would welcome a hot flash but I think alot has to do with whatever it is I am trying to come down with.

Mary-I hope they deliver a buyer to.

Ronne-I try not to beat myself up but I have had a hard time wanting to workout lately.

Ronne, no I m not doing it all, but Mon and Wed are 15 hour days (12.5 at hospital and then college for a few hours for tutoring). I have trouble getting enough sleep M - Th.

I miss my Cathe's but the program is keeping me working out since I have to show up at the studio and do the workouts. If I didn't have to I'd just be skipping workouts. Ideally I'd be doing both.

Roxie, my realtor used to call me after showings to let me know any comments. Plus every week I got something in the mail summarizing the number of showings to date and other activity regarding the listing. My house needed a lot of work so I had to price it low low low. It was due for roof, too. I'm so glad to be out from under it.

Hi all

Yay, it's Friday!

Jody - wow, those are long days. Good for you for doing any workouts at all. You can come back to Cathe when you're finished. She'll always be there for you!!

Roxie - hope you've got something nice planned this weekend, you need a treat to cheer yourself up.

Lisa - poor you! Your colleagues probably think you're a complete nutjob!! 1Q84 is a kind of science fiction but like the best sci-fi it reflects modern life. It's not so much a series, just the three books. Here 1 & 2 are sold in one book and 3 separately.

Mary - I like to mix and match what I read, sometimes it's difficult stuff and other times I like a good crime novel! I've got SC to look forward to - not doing that till week 5.

Today was BS Bis & Tris. Used my 1lb weighted gloves for the bis and it was fine. More of a challenge. Just been out to the shop for the paper and bought myself a bar of chocolate! Going to a cheese and wine thing at DD's school tonight - it will be my first drink since Jan 4th! I've not had that long off for a very long time.

Good Morning,

Well I was lazy again last night so hopefully tonite I will get back on the train its CB&S. I forgot to mention the boss lady is at home with the flu today so its going to be a nice quiet day and yes I know that is mean.

Ronne-I plan on spending tomarrow either at 4 year old twin nephews birthday or going shopping with DD, DH and GS really hoping for this.

Jody-you sound like a very busy lady. We put a new roof on last year insurance helped pay for it due to a hail storm we think it might need a new floor in the kitchen though the linoleum is cracked and stained in a few places. I emailed the realtor yesterday and she said she would send out comments by email once a week.

I think I've now entered the interrupted sleep zone, was up a couple hours last night, boo! Wanted an easy w/o so did Step Moves.

Ronne, sometimes I feel like I'm going nuts. I've been forgetting an awful lot of things lately, not sure if it's because I'm not engaged to working or if it's another meno thing or a combo of them both because I'm forgetting a lot of personal stuff I need to do too. I can give up alcohol easily, it's the sweets that are my downfall. I'm still sticking to my cleaner/better diet, down another lb. I'm mad at myself for letting myself gain as much as I did.

Roxie, I think it's funny why you are going to have a quiet day.

Jody, we'll be here too when you get back to Cathe. Long and lean, I think of a ballerina body, I've never had a ballerina body and I don't think any w/o program would get me it. We are who we are, we just have to strive to be the best we are. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't like how a program can promise x,y, and z, because you have to factor in the person into the equation.

Mary, what fun are you up to this weekend? I'm sure you have something planned for the super bowl?

I was going to say something else, but can't remember now. DH did just give me grief. I told him how when he was complaining of steel cut oats again for breakfast (been our breakfast for at least 5 yrs now), I told him how it's good for your brain. Then later I was telling him how I forgot something in a procedure at work, and he said "guess you need more oats". What a smart a$$.

Lisa, lol to dh, good one. Cathe has addressed the no heavy wts/bulk/lean many times and I think most recently in her XT stuff. And I quite agree with her. I think heavy wts are very effective and produce beautiful results. So does body wt training. I've felt like my supplements help with my energy, sleep and memory.
Good luck on showing Rox.
I did xtend today at 7 am, Ill let ya know if I do anything else.

Hello

Wow, Lisa, you are creative! Your DH's comment made me laugh. I think we all go through those periods of feeling like we're falling apart. I keep telling my DH to shoot me cos I keep doing daft things.

Roxie - hope you get your good day today.

Jody - that's dedication a workout at 7am, I am not a morning person!

Changing my rest day to today so no workout. Will do AOL tomorrow instead. Got a bit of a hangover to be honest so I think AOL would kill me! Going to have my second cup of coffee of the morning, take some pills and chill with the paper instead. Never too old to be stupid!!

Hi everyone! Yesterday did XT legs, felt like I was running behind all day! We had a lake effect snow storm yesterday morning, had to go to work, the place where I went yesterday makes us park across this bridge and walk across. That would normally be ok, however yesterday it snowed about 8 inches, they didn't shovel the sidewalk, the bridge is about 300 feet tall and a quarter mile long, it is a 4 lane road and the sidewalk is 18 inches wide! Pretty narrow, the cars were sliding , it was dark, I was a big scardy cat! Ok, I'm done! We told my boss the conditions, she called the facility, they told us we are nurses, adapt!? It is DANGEROUS! There is no where to go if a car is coming at you! Anyway, Lisa you are a beautiful quilter! My mom has a whole room filled with fabric, she loves it also! I am impressed with your talent! Ronne, funny about the headache, glad you enjoyed your cocktails! Jody, is the gym where you go close to your house? 7am is pretty early to have to be somewhere to workout! Roxie, good luck with the showings. Did you get a St. Joseph? Hi Murphy, hope you are feeling better! Today we have basketball, Costco, MIL's birthday dinner. I better get moving! Have to figure out my workout, Mary

I've been awake since 3:30am, woke up with my neck bothering me, grrrr. Laid there and thought that I'm really going to have to get to a chiropractor as much as I don't want to go. I've done nothing stupid that would make this happen and I can't crack it like I used to so I may need a pro to do it. DH got fed up with me complaining about my hair and made me a hair appt for Wed, now he's about ready to make me a chiro appt. I don't like dr's and I especially don't like chiropractors. I did Ride and it's feeling pretty good now (I also had DH lift me and crack my back thinking that might help the neck somehow). I know there is a pinched nerve in there too, if I could just get this spine right where it meets my skull cracked (the right way) I know I would feel better, except that my muscles will have to learn to rearrange themselves the CORRECT way. Even when I get a massage it can throw it out, I hate my neck right now and I hate that I got in that car accident when I was 5 that caused this. Remember back then we didn't wear seat belts and we sat in the front seat! Oh my, and I've paid my whole life. Have I complained enough? I have cooled off as it was almost too cold for me to go w/o, brrrrr, but I really like Ride and boy was I sweating buckets!

I am really pleased with the wall hanging, it turned out better than I thought it would. Thanks for all the compliments!

Jody, are you saying the supplements you are taking on the program is helping? Can you say what they are?

Mary, that trek does sound scary! I can't believe they told you to adapt..
did you have patients or is it just teaching other nurses? I can't believe you don't have super bowl plans :) I've been trying to plan a trip for spring break for my DS21 (his GF spring break isn't the same time), looking at going to the NW mountains, downhill ski one day, Dinosaur National Monument day 2, then Steamboat Springs and there we will try cross country skiing and they have a new ice castle thing I'd like to see and maybe some tubing. Hopefully that's fun for my DS.

Ronne, if you had fun, then it was worth it, right? Live life with no regrets :)

Roxie, good luck with the showing, I hope it sells soon, it's a pain keeping it up for showings, then having to make yourselves be out of the house during the showing. When we sold our 1st house, I had a 3 yr old and newborn, I got tired of leaving the house all the time, I finally said, the heck with it, if they can't understand how hard it is with 2 very little kids and me needing to be home, then tough! In fact I think I helped sometimes show the good things in the house than some of the realtors did--at least with the nice, pleasant people :)

Murphy, you better? my friend had that norovirus going around, she said she dropped in weight to 98! I don't think I'd want to achieve weight loss that way!
