Hi Ladies! I rested on Sat although we were busy getting down all the valances/curtains, moving some furniture for access to get the windows replaced on Wed. Sunday I did 5.5 mile run. This week I will be taking it easy because of all the workmen coming and going (sound familiar Ronne?) and because I'm on call 24x7 for work this week (thru Sunday)---wish me a quiet phone please! Today I did LIC total body premix---pretty easy, then finished with CCC core part only --- I DID A ROLLY POLLY ! I think it will be easier with no shoes on (or wearing pants) --- my shoes hurt my legs when I cross them under me. Maybe I was able to do the rolly polly easier because I wasn't winded from the cardio part?!?! Tomorrow I think I'll do weights for 4DS legs and calves since the premix today didn't really work legs.

Not much else new here except that, gasp, my sister called me. Guess that means we are talking :)

Hi everyone! It is Monday! Today I did ME, saw Cathe's March rotation, didn't look too bad, I'll give it a go! Lisa, I did 4DS legs on Sat., not too long at all, I did work up a good sweat tho! Good news about your sister, I am glad things are back to normal?! Well, I do have some news, I had to have another MRI on my hip, this time they injected it with dye to see it better, turns out the ball of the joint is misformed, which is what is causing the pain,(rubbing bone vs. bone) so they will be able to fix it, I will have that done in May. I guess they reshape it somehow, I don't like too many details! Hi to you Ronne, Murphy and Kathryn! hope everyone had a good weekend! Talk to you later. Mary

hello everyone

Lisa - tell me about it! Although windows are quite straightforward. We had another one done last week and they were finished in 3 hours. Hope you don't get called on too much. Congrats on the roly poly thing whatchamacallit! I agree with you, I bet the core work is a bit easier if you're not huffing and puffing!

Mary - Well, I suppose it's good news that they've managed to discover what's wrong with your hip. Hope they can get it sorted quickly and painlessly for you.

Had a full weekend's workouts which is unusual for me. Did Disk 26 on Sat, it was tough but not as bad as I'd feared. I was only using 10lb dumbells tho'! Then I did Boxing on Sun. That felt tougher second time round. Yesterday, I did Step Moves for the first time. Liked the choreo and got most of it first time. Today was PUB up only premix and the abs. I can never manage all those planks at the end!
Work's a bit quiet so I'm going to get some cleaning done! Bye for now!

Whew!

I did MMA Fusion yesterday (still struggling to get up and down on this one). How can anybody say this workout isn't challenging?

Today I had a challenge of a different kind: AOS Firepower (Four Alarm). This is such a tough workout that I almost have to bribe myself to get through it. I've really earned a day off tomorrow.

It's snowing here today -- again. This is the worst winter since 1992, when I moved here. It's been so cold and unusually snowy. I'm ready for spring!

Lisa, glad you're able to manage the rollie-pollies! They are tough! And I'm glad about your sister, too. I was estranged from my brother and his family for several years. We finally were able to put the past behind us and have a relationship, but a lot of years were wasted (and we missed a lot of each others' kids growing up).

Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your hip! How will they fix it? That sounds very painful, but I'm glad you have an answer. Keep us posted.

Ronne, I never get step choreography the first time... and often not the second or third, either. I struggled with the new Cathe step videos (I've done each only once). I'm very right/left challenged and have a hard time switching back and forth. (I have no side dominance -- I think that's the problem.) I have a couple of Amy Bento step videos that I dream of being able to do someday... but it's going to be a real project to learn them!

Well, speaking of projects, I need to go to work. Have a good day, everybody!

HI girls, glad today was a short workout. I feel awful, my monthly visitor is due anytime and my stomach is so nauseous and crampy feeling like it's anytime now. ugh! So 4DS lower body weights (legs/calves) premix was just perfect. Glad I'm planning a rest day tomorrow to, did I say I feel yucky?

Mary, good to know what's causing your pain, but how will they fix it? My sis's ball/hip joint never was completely formed where the ball part rolls in there nicely...she had leg perthes as a kid and that was why. She finally had her hip replaced in 2005 (so at age of 46 or so?) That was a tough surgery, but especially I think for her because she is so out of shape and overweight.

Murphy, are you feeling better?

Kathryn, it's been a bad winter for a lot of us. Dec was AWFUL and we STILL have snow on the ground from then---a rarity for us here, normally snow is here today and gone tomorrow. I see daffodils starting to come up and buds on the trees so spring is close, in fact going to be in the 50s this week. Of course, once the pretty spring flowers come out, wham, we get a dose of wet, heavy snow.

Ronne, you've worked out a lot! I find it hard to do planks too after all that UB work! Wed, they will be here to do the windows (15 of them) AND the roof, all in the same day. It's going to be loud around here!

So far phone has been quiet, fingers crossed it stays that way!

Hi girls! Today was Imax2, hadn't done step in awhile, I should do it more often, got myself all confused and lost in my living room! Lisa, hope your period comes soon, the days before are usually worse than the actual thing! I am ready to be done with it tho! Kathryn, isn't Fusion fun? I do ok on the 3rd combo, however I am terrible at the 2nd one, where you kick thru withyour back leg? I end up squating low, I never seem to have enough time to get that kick in! Ronne, you have been busy! I never much care for planks on their own, let alone after killing my arms! Murphy, where are you? Hope all is well with you! Apparently with my hip they need to shave the bone round again? I wish my DH had been listening on the extension, I always forget parts of conversation! I need extra ears! Have a good night! Mary

Hi everyone, quick post as I sit here puttering on the computer taking my time getting my day started :) Rest day for me but busy here at the house. Roofers, Window people AND Maddy's petmobile grooming. My nosey neighbor across the street should get a good show today.

Mary, I find I forget more the older I get....used to have the memory of an elephant, no more and it's very irritating! Almost as irritating as having to grab reading glasses to read ---- that's been a hard adjustment as I've had perfect vision all my life.

Time to get a move on :)

Hi everyone

Lisa - so are you busy making cups of tea for all the workmen? Can't have someone doing work on the house without making them lots of tea here! Enjoy your 'rest' day (not so restful, I reckon).
Hope you're feeling a bit better as well.

Mary - I'm exactly the same. When we were having the building work done last year, I was having all the conversations with the builders, they'd explain loads of stuff to me and then when DH got home I couldn't remember half of it!
It was funny doing Step Moves the other day, I felt like I hadn't done step in ages. That's another good thing with the new STS cardio, getting away from step all the time.

Kathryn - we've also had a terrible winter. Worst for 13 years and in Scotland it's been the worst for nearly 50! It does finally feel like it's coming to an end though.
I had a look at that kettlebell clip. I was thinking it didn't look so bad then I realised it was in slo mo! :p

Today was CCC. Not quite so bad 2nd time. I don't do push-ups on anything, took a few extra breaks and only finished early on a couple of things. Pretty good all round, I think ;). My back is really starting to bother me, top of my lower back is really stiff and achey. I want to try and finish this Feb rotation (2 workouts left) then I might take it a bit easier. I wanted to go straight into the March rotation (you all know that stupid voice in your head that tells you to keep going) but I think it would be more sensible to lighten up on the cardio and do some yoga. It seems to be the cardio that bothers it more than weights.

Right, back to work!

Here I am. I have not done any exercises since Saturday. Sunday I overslept and then we went to a party for one of my DD's friends. It was at one of the bounce places w/ the inflated slides and whatnot. I ran around like a crazy woman w/ my 2-year old and of course, between not being 100%, running around and being w/ lots of germy kids, I felt sick on Monday. Tuesday I decide to give exercise a-go and then my 2-year old fell out of her bed - we have a sidebar there to prevent falls but apparently she pushed up against it so much that she dislodged it. Anyway, she is unhurt but was crying and would not let me go. Today is Wednesday and I did not want to get up so another day will pass without me exercising. I think I need to start sleeping in my exercise gear, 4:30am comes way to quickly. Daylight savings is coming up soon so I need to figure out something.

Hi to everyone and sorry for the lack of personals.

Murphy

Day off

Today is my day off, but I wanted to check in anyway.

We had a two-hour delay to start school (due to ice), and DD stayed home anyway because she's sick! And if that's not bad enough, so is DH. A friend of mine used to say: "There's nobody as sick as a man." I'm hoping I stay healthy because the last time DD was sick, I caught her illness and was sick for four weeks.

Mary, I can hardly do that kick-through squat in that second combo of MMA Fusion! Am I not flexible? Coordinated? I just can't believe that some people complained that the workout was too easy! They must be alot more fit, flexible, and coordinated than I am.

Ronne, you made me laugh with your comment! Yes, it's slow motion. I think Anthony is using a 35-lb kettlebell, but I don't get above 26 lbs. for this workout. Mostly I use the 17 and 20 lb kettlebells. Anyhow, this wouldn't be the workout to start with. Providence is a better one to begin.

Lisa, we're having roofers out next week. Apparently, we sustained hail damage last year and once our drought ended and the torrential rains arrived, we developed some very damaging leaks. After they replace the roof (and all of the metal parts), they'll have to replace wallboard inside, paint, and refinish floors. Lovely. Our neighbors won't be gossiping about it, however. Most of them have had to replace their roofs also.

Memory... perfect eyesight... I remember those! Sort of. And smooth skin -- I remember that, too! Even though I work out, my thighs still look soft and mushy. They didn't used to look that way. I'm fitter than ever, but don't look that way (from the waist down). Maybe if I had 12% bodyfat (like Cathe does), but I just can't discipline myself to eat the way she does. (She posts her meals on Facebook sometimes. Lettuce. Tuna. Lemon juice. Ugh!)

Well, I've gotta run and tend to DD... have a good day, everybody!

Hi everyone! Today will be MM, should be fun?! Kathryn, hope you don't get sick! I know my DH suffers terribly when he gets a cold, and the rest of us suffer listening to him! Don't tell him I said that! I totally agree with you with Cathe's meals, tuna and lemon juice? Doesn't sound too appetizing to me! I am a terrible eater, if I ate "clean" I probably would have the body I dream of! But then I would be a crabby witch! Lisa, your house sounds busy today! Murphy, sorry to hear of the illnesses! You get up at 4:30? What time do you go to bed? 7:30? I thought 5:50 was early! Ronne, sounds like your body needs a break! I tried Step Moves once, need to pull it back out and give it a go, I was confused that day! Have a good day everyone! Mary

Dieting...

DH is fascinated with the studies that show extreme calorie restriction can add years to your life (yeah, like he could ever do that!)...

...I remind him that those people don't actually live longer; it just feels that way!

Bring on the food! Who wants to go through life hungry and crabby? I'm crabby enough as it is!

Quick check-in

Not feeling too perky today, so I did Step Blast ("This is a blast, so act like you're having one!"). I'm borderline staying healthy. DH seems to be feeling a bit better; DD isn't.

Well, off to work... I have to get my accountant off my back about the taxes. Oh, and deal with the insurance company about our roof replacement project.

Insurance and taxes... a black hole of misery.

Hi all

Well, I did 4DS KB today. Did the weights first premix and skipped the abs. It certainly made a difference! I wasn't as perky doing the kickboxing as I normally am. Have decided to be sensible and not finish the rotation. Supposed to be doing PLB on Sat but my back is bothering me and I think I should ease off.

Murph - you poor thing! What a perfect storm of illness and just stuff going wrong. 4.30!!! You really get up at that time?! Don't know how you do it

Kathryn - hope you manage to stay uninfected, leaving you lots of energy for all those lovely tasks! The roof work sounds like a huge job. Guess that means a bit of upheaval for a while.

Mary - hope you had fun with MM. I agree with you and Kathryn about the food thing. I remember seeing Cathe post a while ago about having some nuts and a protein shake for lunch and I just thought &*%^*>? sitting there with my tuna sandwich and cereal bar! Tuna and lemon juice sounds like someone being mean! :)

OK, back to work. See you all tomorrow.

Hey ladies.....I have what sounds like millions of BIG mice on my roof right now. The rescheduled from yesterday to today, window people got done on the inside yesterday and are going to be back today to finish the outside. We worked on getting the house back in order last night and this morning so I skipped my exercise. I have been up since 3:00am (thank you hormones) and said hi to Murphy :) So far windows look nice except for the MUD one of the tracked in (guess he had to walk through the snow and over some dirt and that made the mud). I have mostly hardwood floors so easy to mop, but the mud was even tracked into the bedrooms. I'll have to pull out the carpet cleaner this weekend and do in the main walking areas of the bedrooms, sigh.

Kathryn, your roof project sounds worse than mine....we are just replacing BEFORE damage can occur since it is 18 yrs old and the shingles are no longer to code. Have fun with your project! <insert evil laugh>
I agree about food, I've gained back probably about 10 lbs from my lowest, but at least I'm not waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I can still fit in my size 6 jeans though they are a bit snugger!
Oh, and not feeling perky and doing Step Blast? I bow to you!

Mary, I am crabby enough with the hormones don't need yucky food too. I'm amazed people can live on food like that. DH has gotten so good at spotting my PMS moods and biting his tongue, then when I say I feel 'blah', he reminds me it must be my PMS time and he's right!

Murphy, 4:30 is early! I think when I go into the office I'll have to get up at 5 or so, not looking forward to that!

Ronne, Well, here it the morning beverage of choice is coffee, but these guys yesterday were all work and no play (which I like because that's what I pay them for).....you know us Americans always working...don't you all get a lot of vacation time over there?

Poor Maddy doesn't like the noise from the roof, she's going to be a tired pup if she doesn't get her nap in :) She looks so pretty after her grooming yesterday but she feels so bony since they brushed out so much of her fur. My poor baby, I don't think we will ever get her weight back on her....she's down to 20 lbs from 25 lbs a year ago.

Hi everyone! Today will be cardio, the rotation calls for a run, well, I only run to the bathroom, so I will have to tweak the rotation a bit! Lisa, I'm sorry about all the extra work! I like to wash the floors, however scrubbing the carpets sounds like an ordeal! Ronne, I think you gave me inspiration for my w/o today! Murphy, how is everyone feeling? Any improvement? Kathryn, I don't have SB, sounds like a challenge when you aren't feeling great! Hope everyone has a good night! Mary

Hello

Rest day for me today, very welcome. Nursing my ego a bit today. I did one of those stupid things yesterday. I smacked my face into a cupboard door . I opened a door to get something to eat, hadn't bothered switching the light on in the kitchen, then bent down to check a radiator, stood up and whack :(. Hit my face just below my nose, got a small cut and my gum feels a bit tender. I was a bit worried about my teeth but they seem fine. What a bozo!

Mary - so what did you settle on for cardio - how about a Hiit?

Lisa - Sorry about the mud. That's so annoying. Last week when our windows were done, the workmen were very careful at putting sheets down everywhere. Then when DD came home, she noticed dirt all over her bed! They'd had to stand on it to get the window in. Oh well, it's easy enough to wash.
Yes, we do get more holiday than you! DH is now on 28 days. He hasn't taken any yet this year and when we were planning stuff yesterday, he's only got 4 free!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hooray! Friday!

I did Art of Strength "Providence" today. Still trying to fight off toxic germs from DD and DH.

Soooo I had to go into DS's school this morning for Muffins with Mom. I don't want to sound like Howard Hughes, but I couldn't wait to get to the hand sanitizer after an hour among all of those kids! I could never be a teacher -- I have zero immunity against respiratory ailments.

I'm looking forward to a weekend of temps in the 60s (so they predict). I won't know what to do with myself in all of that balmy weather. I'm almost getting used to day of sub-freezing temps.

Ronne, I have hit my head on cabinets left open (and it doesn't even have to be dark!) so many times. I try to not do that, but sometimes I forget. Or somebody else forgets. I hope you heal quickly!

Lisa, next week is my turn for the mud. I don't know how they're going to drop all of those shingles off the roof without landing in the shrubbery, on the deck, etc... but the contractor seems (operative word) conscientious, so I hope it goes well.

Mary, Step Blast is a lot of fun! One of the first Cathe step videos that I ever did. (That and Rhythmic Step -- what was I thinking?) But it's less than an hour and it's not a killer workout, so that's why I did it.

Well, the boss just stopped by with that "get to work" look on his face, so I've gotta run.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Quick flyby....slept in (Maddy and me both, we are exhausted from all the pounding). Planned to run an hour, well, that's out the window at this point, may try to squeeze in 30 min something here soon. Waiting on inspector to sign off on the roof so far before they can continue and then the pounding begins again. Windows are great. Sorry for lack of personals but everyone have a good weekend!
