40's - April showers

KCM KBX 1 and 60 squats done not up to the TM though ready for a nap.

Ronne-I switched to KCM for the next 2 months and then maybe I will return to XTrain but not another 90 days.

Hi girls! Really late today! Almost bedtime! Today did a premix from AT? Went to DD's track meet, was cancelled because of thunder storms that didn't start until after we got there. Also A LOT of paperwork as the semester is winding down. Lisa, hope the block is working! Fingers crossed! Jody, how many more Tuesdays do you have? Next week is my last full week, I enjoy some of my students much more than others! Don't tell them! Murphy, hope you feel better soon, don't aggravate anything! Ronne, when are you coming to the States? Roxie, have you tried Mucinex? That usually helps with the cough. Have a good night all! Mary

Back home and ate pizza and soon to have ice cream, I deserve it! The entire procedure only took about 30 min(I got happy juice in my IV), then 30 min in recovery.

So far feeling ok, a bit sore where the injections went in. For some reason I'm a bit surprised where the bandaids are. I THINK my left neck pain is diminished (from numbing medicine), that should be wearing off soon (hr or so) and it may take the steriods a while to get rid of the inflammation. they say 5-7 days but since I'm YOUNG they may work quicker. I feel a bit sore at the injection site so ice,my best friend, for next 24 hrs. This should take care of the base of skull pain, all the way to the trapezoid if these locations were the culprits, just not the numb arm (which I knew that)--that's what the EMG next week is for. Said take it easy tomorrow then I should start testing them out. No idea how long the steriods will last (different for everyone), maybe 2 weeks, could be more. He explained how he is shooting in steriods into the capsule, too much can causes more pain, in fact may feel pressure next couple days as they work. He (the pain guy) also said he'd let dr rajpal handle my case from here but should these solve the problem he's happy to help treat my pain on an ongoing basis. Said he isn't surprised I've had as much pain as I have given what he saw on my records (MRI). And figured I had quite a bit of inflammation.

The nurse in recovery's sister is having back surgery with dr rajpal tomorrow. Said everyone said he is the guy to go to so we picked the right neurosurgeon.

Hi all

Lisa - enjoy your treats!

Mary - you sound busy!!

Roxie - did you order the new KCMs? I haven't bought any of hers since Split Sessions. Which ones would you recommend?

Well, I did it! HS cardio plus Core 1 completed and that is me off the Xtrain!! Pleased I made it. Not sure I'd do another 90 day program again, but I'm proud of myself for managing it. Looking forward to easing off a bit and going back to some of my favourites. Going to take a rest day tomorrow and I probably won't be around as we're meeting friends.

Didn't sleep too well, had to go to my chair a couple times (thought of Roxie). It's hard to lay on my back because injection sites are sore(they are much lower than the neck). Pain is lessened, but could be a variety of things (took flexeril and valium last night), so will now try to hold off meds and test them out starting tomorrow. I feel relief in the sense that I feel they may take the edge off the pain (maybe not all), but we knew this is for diagnostic. I'm starting to feel "pressure" on both left and right sides where the vertebra are, they said to expect this as that means steriods are starting their work. Since I feel it on right I know it's the little steriods working. I may do YR later to stretch out, the way they had me on the table (face down, 2 pillows under boobs, head down, my lower back started to feel it (could have used a little pillow under my stomach I thought about 20 min in)

Ronne, congrats on completing rotation! woot! I don't like repeats so much, but I've been repeating my same LI workouts, I'll do it again as I know they cause some pain but not over the top, so hope it's a good test for my neck.

Roxie, maybe the XT and LI series combined plan would give variety? I haven't really looked at the rotations, I like to just pick and go and hope I don't forget like Mary did that one muscle group that I just worked day before has some in the next w/o I do. Doesn't always work :)

Mary, OK, I have snow, Roxie hail, you rain, and jody sunshine, Is Murphy getting rain now? and we never know about Ronne :) Hey, it's not official yet but looks like DS and DIL will be moving in here, she is trying to figure out how to tell her Mom. I told DS, she has to let the apron strings go! It should help them out of their debt to live here for a while. Oh and the for sure news is, DS starts his job next Monday! Wow, maybe we will get through all of these challenges. Now to get me all fixed up, but I'm hopeful and if I can just take and edge off the pain while they figure my neck out I can do that! Oh, my SIL had that same hip thing you did, it's working good for her. I hope you find relief I now have a deeper appreciation for chronic pain. Poor DIL has chronic pain in her saccrum from a car accident she had in high school(person who was driving when to pass a front loader, front loader turned left, they crashed into it, front loader ended up in ditch so the kids were traveling pretty fast, DIL was in front seat passnger, only one wearing a seat belt and she was the one that was hurt the most. I guess someone hugged her other day and squeeze her down in the lowerback area and she had to jump away and go cry in the bathroom at the pain. I don't know what all the injury is to the saccrum, so I can't really advice them, maybe my pain dr can help I wonder, maybe that's why DS was off to take me. I believe in fate and life giving you what you were meant to be, we never know why we are given the challenges we are.

Wow, I am a chatterbox, DH noticed it too, I guess I do feel a bit better, but I'll hold out judgement until I run a test the next week.

bye for now my 40's and Jody :)

Hey all, I did Intensity, the step and step hiit part, about 30 min early before school. I guess I like that one, it's shown up in my log a lot this past month. I've got xtend this aft.
Super yummy thing I've been eating, 100 cal Van greek yogurt, walnuts and 1 chopped up apple.
Lisa, your granddog come with this move in deal? You will enjoy that, if so.
Mary, lol to enjoying some students and sshh don't tell. Its going to be a very busy school few weeks for me as we finish up this semester. When do your kiddos get done?
Ronne, congrats on the rotation. If you had to pick a few words to sum up results and/or rotation, what would you say?
Murphy, it is funny how things are connected and also how we compensate. I think I'm shorter on half my body. Like lunges when you touch the step, I know one side has to reach an extra 2 inches to get there.
Roxie, same question to you on xtrain rotation.

Good Afternoon,

I walked on the TM this morning and then plan on doing KCM Muscle Definition 1 and some abs.

Ronne-I can't help you unless I know which ones you have and I did order 2 of the new ones I didn't order the back one. I like Circuit Burn its quick and burns alot of calories but I like boxing and Kickboxing. I have only done Step Boxing 1 or 2 times it has a learning curve.

Jody-I missed to many workouts to get accurate results but when I did the first week I was starting to see results just not so good with the last have due to everything going on.

Two thoughts that came to me this aft, one includes Monty Python reference.

First an analogy or similie or metaphor (I can't remember which)----
Barre classes are to exercise as The Ministry of Funny Walks is to transportation.
and
"Great job on that bicep series ladies, you are killing it." -->Me scratching head, "we were working biceps?"

Adding in my run this eve- walk, jog spints x 4.3 miles plus push ups and dips. Pretty much one more xtend left on Sat. I prob will do a Cathe tomorrow instead of going to class like I should, Sat is with creator, and I never go Mon cuz of clinicals and pics for all are Tues. The selected ones are going another month I think? Mary good luck w/ paperwork, ew!

Hi all! Today channeled Jody and did a barre w/o, only because I didn't feel like putting on shoes. How lazy am I? Jody, hahaha! How much longer with extend? Ronne, congrats on finishing rotation! I don't think I could do 90 days, well, of anything! Lisa, hopefully by Saturday you will be feeling better! This has been a journey for you. I hope it's coming to an end! Roxie, are you still job hunting? Hi Murphy! Have to get back to school paperwork, ;( , my least favorite part of my job! Talk to you tomorrow, Mary

Mary, that's lazy! I do same thing with a bra, am I going to bounce? No? No sports bra, just a T---those are normally weight workouts.

Jody, yes the dog comes, bets are on where she spends most of her time :)
Funny how those ladies think they are doing so much, they'd die with Cathe. Intensity (the new one) is quite intense, you amaze sometimes, no, all the time.
Been busy yesterday supervising, cleaning up, moving stuff to prepare for kids to move in. DIL seems excited, but still hasn't told her Mom, said her parents could help with moving things if that was OK, I told her totally, they are welcome to help them, I know some stuff needs cleaned and I can't do it all given the circumstances. Maybe this is what will bring the families together? I'm reduced to pain so bad I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy and hence must take help from worst enemy.

Just did HR, a bit lower UB weights than normal, but a bit more than I was with this neck. weak in delts, especially rear delts (Neurosurgeon noticed this before i even knew! That doesn't correlate to c6/c7, that is c4/c5 where nothing is of much note in the radiologist report---he treats the symptoms not the reports, and that is where he notices a step off of the nice line the vertebra have on the flexion xray---what a puzzle. Neurosurgeon notices weakness in triceps, that's c6/c7. The EMG next week will show what muscles have had nerve damage to them. I think the results are less subjective than a radiologist report (human reads those) (I think they use computer to measure energy (or something) pricking you with needles to see WHERE the nerve damage starts (ie. spine, shoulder, elbow, carpal tunnel).

So far the intense pain is gone, it's weird, pain med doc said that it would handle pain from base of skull to edge of shoulder down to mid back. Starting right at the shoulder my left arm feels "different, not normal", not numb necessarily, not pain (though in certain position last night in my chair I felt slight pain), still think something is impinging on my nerves to my left arm. This morning my left scalene is super tight, kinda like the pain would be in the past (and like you have), going to work on gentle stretching of it. Slight pain at base of skull, tightness? don't know

My face has color in it now and my cheeks are bright red (DH noticed), and I'm not wanting to shoot myself. Now this is with no activity, so after 2-3 days of light workouts will see how I feel, I know I won't feel near as bad as I did given how I feel with no activity and no meds). I so would like to take a flexeril though just for this left scalene muscle that is tight! My theory is the neck muscles tense up in order to support the head when things are breaking down in the spine. So a disc could be degenerating, once that is degenerated enough, the facet has to carry more load, once those start rubbing together you get my pain.

I'd be happy going in every 6-12 months to the pain dr to do a rhizotomy (burning of the nerves in the facet---nerves grow, that's why you have to do it again and again), and avoid fusion, thinking there may be a less invasive procedure to expand the areas for some of the nerves. I'm concerned about c4/c5 and instability there, not sure how they fix that (other than fusion), which would put more stress on c5/c6. Ah, I'll leave it up to my brilliant neurosurgeon. I'm very happy with my pain guy too, they GET how much pain you are in.

Hellos to everyone else, I must get to work, got a lot at the moment, can you believe it?

Not sure how much you all want to hear about my neck(I like learning so I'll share).

I was icing my scalene (actually, my base of skull down side of neck --I'm calling that scalene). In past I iced, back of neck AND this area I'm still icing this side of neck. I think the back of neck was debilitating whereas scalene isn't AS debilitating, but still hurts, hmmmm, if I have to rate it, I guess I'd put a 8 on it, will see if it ever goes away like in past but I doubt it.

Anyway, accidentally listened to Dr. recording again (glad I got that!).

He said, this is how he starts to work up where the problem is. The most obvious is c5/c6, c6/c7, that's why we hit them with injections. This is to diagnose where the neck pain is coming from. So, if this works, boom, we know we got the right place, if it doesn't then they go hit the next obvious spot, maybe in this case c4/c5 since he sees issue with them (man that man has an eye). The fact that my AWFUL back of neck pain is good means that was c5/c6 and c6/c7, the fact that my base of skull to scalene means we may have to hit c4/c5 with injection. This is how he works up his diagnosis. So I don't think it's my muscles that are the problem (though it feels like it) and the fact I grabbed ice today signals inflammation to me, whereas in past I always used heat, never ice. So at this rate I may be seeing the pain dr again, good thing I like him too. So back to neureosurgeon, he then said he takes all these diagnostics from the injections and how they worked (maybe along with the EMG) and figures out how to treat it, whether it's with surgery or with rhizotomy...that's where pain dr burns off the nerves, must be done every 6-12 months since the nerves regrow or something else? What a puzzle! At least I got some relief, but I don't think total relief in neck and we knew we wouldn't get any arm relief.

Now do you want to hear my story of how I think I injured my neck when I was young besides my car accident when I was 5? Sure you do!

I went horseback riding (bareback) with a guy when I was 18 (we both didn't know how to ride a horse), the horse spooked on the other people's horse and went tearing thru the trees and off we went....off the left side of the horse....next thing I remembered was getting conscious in the car and thinking 'who are these people, I know I have to be home for work, my name is Lisa Husslein, I live at xxxxxx, who are these people and what happened?' Slowly it all came back. The guy visited me at work (that was our first 'date'), said he was worried about me as I didn't seem myself after I fell off the horse. I told him I remembered NOTHING until the car ride home. He said I got back up on the other couple's horse and rode it back to the car but I was laughing uncontrollably the whole time'.

I guess I couldn't avoid the car accident, but that date riding a horse was NOT worth this! Been having problems with my neck since age of 20. Now I think I have at least a 70 yr old neck :p

Yea, I was supposed to work, but, eh, I can do it Monday :)

Good evening! Did BS CBS, went a little heavier, see if it does anything! Lisa, so it seems like it helped a bit? I don't know that much about EMG's to tell the truth. I think it can be a little uncomfortable. So, work is letting you work from home? That's awesome! Jody, another week done! The end is near! Roxie, how are you feeling? Ronne, what are you up to? Murphy, where are you? I wasn't as lazy today, I did put shoes on! House cleaned, now onto more paperwork, have a good night! Mary

Mary, it helped a lot....for those areas. I didn't realize how bad those areas were until now I have relief and I feel the side neck into delt (and it's getting bad since I'm trying not to take any meds so that I can test out what they've injected so far). How did I fall apart so fast? tonight, pain level of back of neck- 0, pain level of side neck into delt-8. At this level of no meds for 48 hr the back neck pain would have been a 20 easily (if I could have let it go that long). How this neurosurgeon is going to figure out the puzzle of my neck, I have no idea, but I need to help him with the tests so I get good diagnosis.

coffee phone post. Lisa your neck is a crazy puzzle my head spins trying to keep track of everything that you told us. That other head injury where you have loss of consciousness could very well have other long reaching effects at least according to Dr Daniel Amen he was the guy who wrote all those brain books been reading and I've seen him on PBS and Dr Oz a lot lately too.
Mary nobody on this thread is ever ever going to consider you lazy. shoes or not.
Roxy, you are doing a KCM rotation now?
I think I've asked this before but who all has followed an STS rotation? I'm kind of wondering what the foot fall backs or negative consequences of Sts maybe. I have extended the little bit yesterday I did Playa legs with intention to do abs but got too busy with running around did get to spend an evening with the girlfriends which was nice but of course I didn't get other things done but still we got to hang out with our besties sometimes right

Good Morning,

No workout for me yesterday I went and picked up my mother so she could spend the weekend with me in our new location. I will try and do my 70 squats I didn't do yesterday and 75 for today and a walk on the TM unless DH changes my plans.

Jody-yes I am doing KCM her workouts are short but effective.

Lisa-KCM is doing a new workout that is suppose to be for people with back issues.

Mary-taking a break from job hunting until the collage kids go home. I woke up with a sore throat again and my nose is still running I only have 2 antibiotics left.

I did Ride, didn't feel like I needed new neck shock absorbers (except down left side). I now see why I needed to put my left hand on my hip when sitting down cycling....my handle bars have always been too far forward (can't adjust), and seated holding on pulls on that left side to shoulder. I slept great! No meds now since Wed 3am. My left side down to shoulder was hurting so bad last night, but once I laid on my back the pain subsided, so I thought I better not lay on my left side (that's the one I usually lay on), and stay on my right as something is pinching. It worked! At one point in the middle of the night I tried left side, immediately felt pinching (I didn't feel that before probably because of all the other pain and would just stay on left side and arm would go numb). So no left side sleeping for a while. As long as I sleep I don't care!

Roxie, yes, I've been thinking of asking your for KCM recommendations thinking they may be easier? never done hers. I'm not ready for the list yet, but I'll be asking someday.

Jody, I've done loose rotation with STS, not sure I understand the question.

Mary, yes, work has been letting me work from home. I'm very grateful for that. Going thru this I feel so sorry for those with chronic pain having to go to work, etc. My BFF tells my it's medical truth that redheads have low pain tolerance, pfffft. she swears by it.

I know Ronne is off jet setting somewhere, where's Murphy been?

Lisa, I want you to do Ultimate Yogi rotation. Partly cuz I want to but won't so I think you should do it for me! Ha.

Re STS, I'm considering committing to doing an STS. Partly so I can swing the pendulum the complete opposite way, "bulk up", feel and look great, and finally scoff at the long lean muscle philosophy from a place of power. Or maybe I'll decide long and lean is the way to go???
But the question is, what pitfalls, if any, have been noticed with STS? Like loss of cardio ability, time investment, etc. Basically, why wouldn't I want to do STS?
And, finally, if I do it, maybe I would start with meso 2? Or maybe the Xtrain rotation is the way to go??

My last Xtend class today, voot. Felt like HS graduation. Most of my group mates were tearful about the amazing life changing journey, many were going on to college (infomercial), and I'm the smart kid who spends half her time in suspension for tardiness and smoking and doesn't even know anyone's name~ lols.

Hi everyone! Today did XT legs, love that one, simple and straight forward. Jody, hahaha! You will probably have more time now! But, will you have to buy your own food? STS is a time commitment, a worthwhile one. Meso 2 was/is my favorite! Meso 1 has a ton of push ups, not my favorite! I should do it again? I will fall to peer pressure, if you start when school is done, I will do it with you? Lisa, glad you could find a good sleeping position! I love my right side, don't know if I could go left. It sounds like you have gotten some significant relief. I have heard that about redheads and the pain. The thresh hold is lower, supposedly, I don't know if it is really true tho! Roxie, maybe you have allergies? Good thinking about the job search, once all those kids go back home..... Hi to Murphy and Ronne! Did the Costco run today, going to dinner with friends, have a good night ! Mary

Jody, are you trying to kill me? Me, ms. unflexible doing ultimate yogi? RE: sts, I don't think you lose any cardio if you did cardios between weight days. Meso 2 is my fav and sometimes I would break it up so w/o would be shorter (sometimes 1 hr everyday is a commitment). Meso 3, I don't use, just the plyo legs (and not that much). Meso 1 moves faster (not as much rests), but too many pushups and pull ups. But hey, if you skip them makes for a shorter w/o. :)

Mary, I am feeling tons better, still twinges in that one area. Will be interesting to see what EMG says. Been cleaning out basement rooms, moving DH office back upstairs to prepare for kids to move in. A lot of work, I couldn't have done this without the relief I got this week. (I'm not doing any lifting, just dusting/vacuuming, planning, directing.) DS comes over tomorrow to continue to help move the heavy stuff to prepare the areas for them to move into. My w/o area is much smaller now (so is DH office), the things parents do for their kids. Really looking forward to having a dog in the house, especially one I don't have to have the day to day taking care of, just walking it when I want (and snuggling). I didn't know that about redheads, I have heard from nurses in past that redheads are good bleeders.

Lisa, no, with UY you can still challenge yourself and be working out but in new ways that won't hurt your neck!
Mary, I may take you up on the STS, mid June?
Roxie, KCM sounds appealing. I think I say that or at least think it every time you do them.
Waves and happy rest of the weekend to Murphy and Ronne.
