40 & over checkin - week of 8/3

Hi everyone

Rhondalyn
Your push-up challenge sounds like a real workout to me! Well done and don't sell yourself short! Lucky you, having a pool!

Mary
Glad you got some sleep. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Lisa
I did a Christi Taylor step workout this morning and when I had the step forward, I slipped down the side of it and nearly twisted my ankle! It gave me a nasty shock.
Sorry to hear about your FIL.

Hope everyone has a great day whatever they're doing!

Hello everyone,

I have to make sure I keep up with all these posts. I feel like if I miss a day I miss so much. Anyway, I got my workout in this morning and am looking forward to being sore!

Cherly and Ronne - Muscle Max is one of my favorites too.

Lisa - Sorry to hear about your FIL. I sent out a prayer to him and your family.

Rhondalyn - that push-up challenge does sound tough. Good luck with it.

Murphy

Hi ladies! I got PLB done today and since it's more humid here today I got a nice sweat going.

Ronne,
It's a good thing there are no secret cameras recording us, eh? Also I was happy that no one was passing through the room when I almost fell. I would hear the guffaws from these men....they think girls workouts are so easy.

Rhonadalyn, How was your pool get together? Your pushups sound like a lot of work, do you have a specific goal you are working toward?

Murphy, sending good DOM vibes your way.

Has anyone who is going to do STS started their 1RM testing? For some reason I can't get motivated to do it.

Until tomorrow.....

Gosh, I've been on the run today and am just now having a little computer time. I did the Total Body Premix of Drill Max this morning and loved it.

Ronne, I've almost had some mishaps myself with the step. My old full-sized step was moving on me so I quit using it. I pulled out my Firm step but it's too small. I'm using it until I can get another anyway. I've already put in a request for my B-day. :D

Thanks Murphy. I hope you're not too sore. ;)

Lisa, the program is designed to have you doing 100 consecutive P/Us in 6 weeks. I don't see that happening but I would like to be able to do 50. Even that is probably pushing it for me though. I'll just go until I don't want to do it any more. ;)
And yes, the pool party went well and I think they had a good time. It was really hard to cut the brownies without indulging though. :p I love brownies.

I'm going to do STS and haven't started my testing yet either. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with that. I might start next week and try to do a few every day.

Happy Friday everyone! I just finished CCv8....the hills I only did at 3% incline since my glutes have DOMS from PLB and kettlebells yesterday. I set a PR for distance (5.41 miles in an hr) which was part of my goal today....I didn't feel like doing sprints but I wanted to try for a faster time so I flattened the hills a bit and increased my speed. I thought it worked out good and I like this variation for CCv8.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Hello Ladies!

Gosh I feel so bad that I haven't been checkin in consistently with you all here.

This week was another topsy turvy week for me.

I honestly look forward to when all 3 of the kids are back on a regular schedule when school starts.

My workouts are getting done so late in the day if that and I really need to get myself back to my early am workouts again. I get so caught up with everything and everyone else here at home that I'm finding that I'm putting myself last.

So we spent a fun family day at the beach and I laughed so hard yesterday so that was good.

Take care all ! 'See' ya laters

Today I did my Push up challenge. W1D3-15/13/10/10/20 and the Kickin' and Punchin' premix of KP&C. I love this premix. Lots of fun. One of my favorite KBoxing w/os. :D

Hi Vilma, I was wondering where you were. ;) A family fun day at the beach sounds wonderful.

Great job on the breaking your distance record Lisa!

Hey yall....I know this checkin is pretty dead on the weekend, but I'm here and just thought I'd checkin with MM today. I was tired but I got through it....looking forward to my rest day tomorrow.

Hi Lisa

I'm here listening to some music while I plug in my workouts for next week in the WO manager - its going slow so as I wait for it to load I saw your post.

I did The Gauntlet today for the 1st time and I loved it!

Yeah the boards are usually dead during the weekend plus its a RT weekend too.

Sunday is my rest day but I may do a little something  just not sure yet probably a nice CC mish mosh .

Hi Vilma,

I need to plug my workouts into the WM too.

I've been on the fence about buying The Terminator workout dvd....one min I need it, the next I think I can do without because of the $ (even though advancedworkouts.com has it at a good price).

I've thought about spending sometime with Coach Sean....seems I never really feel like running, but then I do it and oooooh it feels so good. My DH wants to start doing CC too. I'm strictly enforcing my rest day though, my body is telling me to take it easy.

What have you decided about the kettlebells?

Lisa I finally got The Terminator after all these years being on the fence.

I only got it to complete my Cathe collection lol

I ordered it via advanced workouts and it's not only cheaper but I didn't have to pay added S&H or tax.

I got my dvd in about 3 days via usps so I was happy.

As far as the Kettle Bells once I can find them in my area I'm going to get them along with a dvd or two (probably The KB way & the one by that girl Lauren from ontheedgefitness.com) I really like how that video looks with Lauren . At this point my local Target here does not carry them at all

I just need to drive into the city which is nearly a 2 hour drive (where we plan on relocating to once we place out house for sale)

I feel myself caving to buying the Terminator. Since my BD is next week, I think I just may have to get it for my BD, right? But I'll have to wait until the credit card closes since I have 2 kettlebells on it from performbetter.com.

Vilma, When you finally do the Lauren KB dvd, you'll have to let me know what you think of it. A lot of the KB dvds seem to be the same exercises over and over and at $40 a pop, I think I don't need more of the same.

Lisa when I finally get my hands on a KB I plan on getting Lauren's dvd for some reason that one really gets my attention.

I don't want to go order an online kettlebell because I really don't know if I'll be really into them plus trying to fit them in a rotation perhaps Lauren's well fit as a sorta circuit wo?

At this point my dh almost had a cow when he found out I had preordered STS and well I sorta told him I will lay off on getting more fitness stuff . LOL :p

What he doesn't know is that when I do come across a KB I'm getting it

I'm so naughty!

Vilma, you know you are going to love the KB. My thing was that I didn't know what weight would be the best so that is why I wanted to try it out. DH thinks a 35 lb will work for him even though I offered for us to go to Dick's to try it out. Men....he better use it, but then you never know I may just find a use for it. :p

I'm still in a quandry about how to fit it into a rotation. Yes, I think it could fit in as circuit or TB. I've PM'd Leanne and she thought a TB. I think it falls somewhere between the two.

I'm always telling myself I'm done buying stuff, but then there is always one more thing. Right now it's a bit tough with all the school start up costs (uh, college tuition  ) and the bills for DH's gallbladder surgery are coming in. :(

There are worse things we could do/want, right? :p
