40 & over checkin - week of 8/24

Since we are talking about step height......is there a recommended height based on how tall you are? I'm 5'5" and only use 1 riser (I think I've only used 2 on one of the low impact dvds). Anyway, I"ve been wondering if I should try to strive for 2 risers or with my height that 1 is enough. I"ve been too embarrassed to post this in the OD.

Rhondalyn, that cake looks just like a giant hostess cupcake! good job! I bet that was fun.

Murphy, there is no way I could ever do DM twice in one week. That one really gets my PF flared up (I think it's the forward hops that really irritate it.

That is a good question Lisa. I never thought about. I am 5' 2.5" (yes, I got that extra 1/2 inch) so it would be good for me to know too. I have been trying to do what Cathe does, then I end up taking a riser or two off. I know you mentioned the DO but you could always post in the OD and say "a friend" asked. :) It will be our little secret. :)

BTW, how do you do smileys?

Murphy, you empowered me to ask! At least I know it isn't a silly question since you wonder the same thing.

Smileys, when I select 'Post Reply' to post a response, I get a few different smileys on the right hand side to select. Do you see those? If not, then it might be something with your options in your UserCP.

The other more advance smileys Rhondalyn uses I have no idea and it seems like such work. How do you do those Rhondalyn?

Stopping by to say Hi to all and checkin with my workouts. 4DS LIS/Shoulder/Core completed. Have a great day and workout everyone!

Hi everyone,

I decided to push DM to the weekend and continue with the S&H series. I am just not ready to face DM so soon.

Lisa - thanks for the smiley info. I don't see it on the right but I think I remember something about them in the user cp area. I will check it out.

Hi all, just a quick hello. The kids will be home in a few and there goes the quiet! I'm doing GSL today, tomorrow will be GSBSB. Not much new here, just getting back with all the school stuff, backpacks, lunches, etc. Hope you all have a good night. talk to ya later. mary

Murphy, in UserCP, select Edit Options that is on the left side, scroll all the way down to the bottom and you will see Miscellaneous Options, select Enhanced Options - Full WYSIWYG editing. Hope that solves the smileys for you.

Hi everyone,

No workout today even though Lisa told me to

but I thought I'd stop by to say hello anyway. :D

You girls are doing great with your w/os.

Lisa, I have a Yuku account where I store my smileys and usually just have another tab open with them so I can copy and paste it over here when I want. There are also sites that you can use for additional smileys. Here's one.

click on the category you want and copy the address down. I just copy what's inside the

Hello Ladies ...

Today was HIS with chest & bBack --- hmmm did I post here yesterday?

Oh since everyone is now home I barely have time.

My DD is now a licensed driver and I fell to pieces I acted like a blubbering idiot crying over this milestone - my emotions really surprised me.

Is anyone here joining in the CCPP day here on Saturday?

I'll not be doing any cardio tomorow to rest up my legs for Saturday's event.

Have a great evening Ladies :)

HI Everyone,

I am still running away from the DM. I like it but my mind keeps saying that I did it this week already, why do it again. So, crazy me thought that I should do BootCamp instead. ??? How is that that much different? What is wrong with me. Okay, I am going to do DM, stop talking crazy, and be done with it.

Lisa - thank you for the info. I went to the usercp yesterday and saw that but was afraid to click on it b/c I don't know what it means. I will go back and try it and see what happens.

Vilma - what CCPP day?

Murph

Good morning ladies, :D

I think it's still morning anyway. ;) I did Keith Weber's Extreme KB w/o today and did find it a bit extreme. Beach boy tried to kill me today but didn't succeed. I sure wish he would slow down some though.

Vilma, is your DD your baby? My youngest is my only DD and it's all harder with her. She's engaged but isn't planning on getting married until 2010. I can't even think about it too much without getting all emotional. We've always been so close.

Kathryn. :D I'm new here and I never know if someone is new coming in or if they've been around but just haven't posted in a while. Anyway......... it's good to see you here! Y'all need to check out her home gym too.

I'll be around this weekend and really have no major plans but for those of you who will not be here.

Happy Friday everyone. I got my workout in, I'm pleasantly tired.

Mary, hope you are enjoying your new found quiet time. How much longer until you are an empty nester? Quite a while probably....I only have 2 more yrs....ya, mixed feelings there.

Rhondalyn, I'm too afraid to order that KBell workout, is it really all that much better/different than KBway in terms of the overall workout? Plus I do like the rest breaks in KBway.

Vilma, I had to do CCPP + challenge today. My workouts are getting screwed up with obligations this and next week. In fact next week I'll have to take 2 rest days (I think I'll welcome that). I have something potentially exciting coming up on Tuesday that I'm keeping mum about so as not to jinx it, and then on Friday we have the funeral to attend....that will be a 5 hr commute round trip, not looking forward to that at all.

Kathryn, Glad to have you here and hope you keep coming back...I'll have to chk out the photos of your gym.

Murphy, I'll let Vilma hook you into CCPP just like she did me....she is such a good salesperson with that! I could never do DM twice in a week, that one has such a dread factor with me....it's all about what you enjoy so that you stick with it !

I'll be around this weekend and pop in from time to time, hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe holiday weekend.

Hi everyone! It is Fri. again! Just got home from work, the kids will be back soon! I will be quite a while until we are alone again, We have 2 5th graders and 1 1st grader. So we have a little while longer! 2 more years, that would be quite bittersweet. Rhondalyn, it seems like you like the Kettlebells, if I come home with more DVD's and equipment, I'd probably get my head chopped off! Vilma, you have a driver too? You all must be full of worry all the time, it scares me to think of my 2 driving in 6 years! Hello Kathryn! Murphy, you are a good soul, I avoid DM at all costs! Well, they will be home in moments and I need to get my workout in before dinner. Have a good night all, Mary

Hello All!

It's Friday already?! Wow this week went by so darned fast!

Didn't do any cardio as I had planned to save my legs for tomorrow I'm so looking forward to CCPP day :D

I did the weight portion of the 4DS BC WO, my PU's from the PU challenge, and 2 sections from Ab hits - I think I have done enough exercise for today lol

Oh I almost forgot I got my weighted vest today - It's so nice and comfy! Now I just need to get my pace weights and I'm set

Murph
some of the Cathites here schedule the last Saturday of each month to join together (tomorrow) and do CCPP (Cardio Coach Choose Living Press Play) this CC was my 1st one and let me tell you The positive, motivational and just feel good expierience is just awesome and makes me cry from all the wonderful things that are set in this workout. It really helps to put your life in presceptive.
It truly is a workout you have to expierience for yourself and the endorphin rush is just OMG!

Rhonda my DD I was bawling about yesterday is my oldest she just turned 18 this July. I have 3 kids my oldest DD my DS who is having his 16th birthday this Monday on the 1st of Sept then my baby girl whose birthday is just 6 days before her older sis.

Lisa Oh I do hate when my working out time schedule gets all wonky, what ever is coming Tuesday I hope makes happy.

So did you checkin over in OD to post about your CCPP day ?

How was it with the new add on challenge? I'm doing mine as soon as I java up in the am :D

Mary Today DD took her dad's car to campus in very heavy fog so DH & I followed behind her in my car. She did good albeit it a bit slow but I have told her to not worry about other driver's and to always keep control. She got back home about an hour ago and said she felt so good and felt that I was with her in the car - awwwww:eek:

The worries is something I don't think I'll ever get over as a mom - heck even my own mom worries about her baby and I'm 41 lol

I need to get started on dinner as it's a homemade soup that takes lots of time and prepping so I hope you all have a Great Holiday weekend .

I'll try to BBL....

Vilma,

The CCPP + challenge was awesome. I added the challenge after the warm up. After that added challenge I looked at the time and thought that I almost had a whole workout in already and yet still had all of CCPP to do. Didn't know if I could do it, needless to say by the end I could have pumped out a couple more miles (yes even after 91 mins!). In fact I did do about 2.5 more miles because I took my dog for a walk after CCPP. I was pleasantly exhausted and didn't think I'd be good for anything else today, but I got the windows hosed off outside and vacuumed. I still feel pumped ! Gotta love those endorphins!

I have the attitude that whatever happens on Tues is what is meant to me, it's just that if it doesn't come thru I don't want to feel like a failure if I've announced to the world....I've already told too many friends as it is.

I'm waiting to post on the OD about my CCPP until tomorrow, no hurries.

Hi everyone, I've been soooo busy this week and have only checked in once! Time just flies away!

I found a new (well its old been around for years, but new for me!) diet. Alakaline/Acidic. I will not be dropping all meat, and dairy (which is what you are supposed to do) I'll just cut back. You mainly live on, fruit, vegetables, except peas, beans etc and a handful of nuts. Sounds boring? Well I can assure, you, it is! I will only follow this for a week or maybe two, mainly to get my digestive system back on track.

Has anyone ever drank - Apple Cidar Vinegar, dash of honey and water? MMMMM Yummmmm! (NOT) Although adding the honey has helped the taste. I used to drink it water and vinegar.

I am having a very hard time losing weight and have done, for the last twelve months. I gained 5-6 kilos, (in your language thats about 11 or 13.2 lbs) and I am short so its really added a lot of weight to my hips and thighs. (YUK) This causes me great stress.

Am I the only one with this? Is there anything that can help? Or succeed. At this point I'd be happy to lose half the weight!!

Don't hear from me in a week and then BAM! Two posts in one hit!;)

I've just read over the weeks thread.

Re the step height - Years and years ago, we only ever used two risers! Anyone using one riser was a wimp! No offence. Since I've strarted with Cathe, her old stuff is two risers (co-incides with the olden days ha! ha!) and her newer stuff is one riser. I have experimented using two risers for her new stuff. IF YOU WANT A TOTAL SWEAT FEST AND HARD HARD WORHOUT. TRY IT. BE careful not to go higher on some of the high impact, jumpy stuff (even some of the low impact stuff)

I now, understand why, the step height has been dropped down to one riser!:p

I just finished KBway and CM seg 2. Now DH is doing KBWay after running on the treadmill. I think I'm getting him hooked !! I'll have to buy him the Keith Weber KBell DVD.

Andrea, thanks for the step info, it cleared up why I thought I had to strive for 2 risers. I was confused when I'd see them use 2 risers on the older videos. I don't think I could do your diet....good luck! I hope you find what works for you. What works best for me is limiting carbs and making sure I get protein with every meal. We have diabetes in my family so I think this helps with sugar control for me.
