Here's the lowdown ladies...I am 3 weeks late and I have felt like I am about to start everyday for the last week (lower back pain and cramps) but nothing. I took two home pregnancy test last week and they were both negative. Today I saw the nurse at my doctors office and she took some blood and did a urine strip test (again negative). I won't know the results from the blood work until tomorrow and darn it I just can't wait that long!!! Has anyone ever failed the urine test but passed the blood test? I want to be pregnant so bad!

I didn't get a positive pregnancy test until day 45! I felt like something was up - but it was hard to say if it was pms or pregnancy!
Good luck!

Woooo, Stacy -when I first saw your post I thought you meant you were 3 weeks late DELIVERING!! Since I'm a week overdue, you can imagine how scary that was for a split second!! Anyway, I thought you could use a laugh and maybe I took your mind off the wait for a second!! BTW, wish me luck tomorrow, too -I go for an ultrasound and non-stress test and they may induce me.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Take Care,
Tricia

Yes, with my first, the urine test was negative but the blood test was postive. The doctor told me after the blood test came back I probably ovulated late that month. He explained the urine test measures HCG hormone and that is what is producted after the egg is fertalized. It takes about 2 weeks after it is fertalized for enough of the hcg hormone to show up in the urine. But the blood test can pick it up just days after the egg is fertalized.

Good luck, I hope you are pregnant!!

Hi Everyone,

I had my IUD removed on September 17th. I am now 7 days late. I have taken 3 tests and all negative. I keep crying and feeling like I am going to start any second. The nurse made me feel as if I were crazy! I got the impression from her that if the home pregnancy tests were negative I was not. She made me feel like I was nuts thinking I might be! :) Help

SpaceyStacey--its been 5 weeks now. Did you get your period? Did you get a positive test? What is going on? Gina

That nasty nurse. Doesn't she know we look to our health care providers to make us feel better, not nuts? The month when I got pregnant, I also felt like my period was coming. Gina

sorry to keep you in such suspense, Gina. I have been so busy and haven't been able to check out the forum in awhile. I am not pregnant, my body was just doing something crazy. It took two days for my doctor to call me with the test results and I was sick to my stomach with nerves the whole time. I was upset that I wasn't pregnant, but at the same time I was relieved that I knew for sure one way or the other. The suspense was killing me! I finally got my period the next morning. Go figure! Anyway, now we are trying to get pregnant (I totally have baby fever in a bad way) and I am supposed to start again thursday but I am not going to get my hopes up and stress out over it, I am just going to wait and see what happens.

I will let y'all know ---
(boy, Y'ALL can you tell I'm from texas)

spaceystacy,

Has your doctor ever talked to you about Natural Family Planning? It seems to me that would help alleviate alot of your stress.

NFP is a way to help you know your fertility. For example, you use three methods to tell when you are ovulating. You take your temperature every morning, check your cervix, and your mucous.

You can tell within a day or two when you have ovulated and if you are pregnant your temperature will stay high once you ovulate.

A friend of mine tried to get pregnant for 2 years, she even was going to a fertility specialist - I gave her my NFP book and she became pregnant within two months.

If you want more information about it, let me know. Good luck.

Thanks cmoroney. Right now I think I will just wait and see what happens before I get into all that. I have a six year old son already so obviously I can get pregnant (or I could at one time, hopefully still can). I have also been on the pill since I had my son and just stopped taking it a few months ago. I have heard that it takes some women several months to get pregnant after discontinuing the pill. So I am just going to give it some time and not stress out about it right now.
