:(

So sorry Erin to hear of your job loss. This economy is so scary and people who think they are safe in their jobs, aren't.

No one is safe and secure in their jobs anymore.

Best of luck and I will keep my fingers crossed that you will find a more fulfilling job soon!

God bless you. I have dear relatives and close friends in the same position... and I am braced for the possibility that it will happen to me in the coming months! Just trying to prepare.

I wish you well and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Just two words: Oh. Sh*t.

Erinski, I agree with everyone else's advice. Also, are there temp agencies that specialize in staffing the legal industry that you could tap into? Usually there are in larger urban / metropolitan areas. You might not get assignments up to your skills level, but you do get your face in the door in other firms or legal offices and that is huge in terms of networking. (I'm a legal assistant too.)

Good luck!

A-Jock

Erin:

Have you checked Lawyers Weekly? I'm a legal assistant for in-house counsel in Mass and while I'm not looking for a job, I always look in the jobs section of my boss's paper and while there aren't a TON of jobs posted, there are some. I also know some headhunters - one of which is a friend - who I would be happy to refer you to. PM me if you are interested - although my contact list is at the office and i couldn't get you any info until Monday.

Also, if you were laid off, you are eligible to collect unemployment.

Hang in there.
