Interesting title isn't it? LOL! Anyways, i wanted to know what everyones experience is with meal frequency. What did you used to do? What do you do now? What changes did you see/feel as a result? Since we are all so different i wanted to see how each person has responded to all the different meal frequencies that can occur.

I ususally eat 5-6 small meals per day. I like to eat every 3 hours or so it keeps me from getting too hungry.

i do 3 small-moderate meals and snack in between if i am hungry. my snacks i try to use as an opportunity to get more fresh fruits and veggies and that usually tides me over until supper. plus i drink lots of water esp. at work. my work schedule keeps me from trying smaller more frequent meals but so far i am finding this to be good as well. i am not starving or totally exhausted b/c lack of nutrition.

My eating history is sporadic and crazy!

20-25 years ago, I never ate breakfast, just had my morning coffee, ate junk food for lunch (candy), ate whatever for dinner. No snacks, no fruit, only green beans and corn for veggies, lots of carbs!

Later, I started eating breakfast, but it was poptarts or danish of some sort and maybe a sandwich at lunch.

In my mid-30s or so, I started eating better, breakfast was still up and down, sometimes I ate, sometimes I didn't.

It progressed like this until about five years ago. I was still eating lots of carbs, but not quite as much junk food! I still hit the fast food places for lunch 2 or 3 times a week.

My biggest change came this year after reading Tosca Reno's book. Now, I eat 5 times a day, small meals, mostly clean with an occasional evening snack. My energy is consistent throughout the day, my mood is better and stays more balanced. I just feel so much better, fantastic actually!

Before, I would be done energy wise by 2-3:00 in the afternoon and too tired to workout or do anything after work. My moods varied erratically, too! I am so amazed at the difference!

Now, if I could only find the secret to becoming a morning person, so I could workout (at least my cardio) before work! That would be ideal!

I eat when I'm hungry (sometimes when I'm not :p:eek::eek:) Depending on how large the meals are, it depends. During the week, probably 6 times day. A probably 4 times on the weekends. Breakfast and dinner tend to be bigger on the weekend, so I snack less.

I have recently changed to 5 small meals/snacks spread about every 3 hours throughout the day. I am following the nutrition guide from the Insanity workouts and have lost 10 pounds in the last 6 weeks by changing my eating and doing those crazy workouts.

While I attribute most of my weight loss to the type of workouts I am doing, I have found by eating 5 times (200-300 calories each time) and keeping the 300 calorie meals/snacks toward the middle of the day, my energy level has stabilized and i am not starving at any time.
I am peri menopausal and have tried various tweeks in my diet, but I had gained an extra 8 pounds since the new year. I was determined to get back down to my normal weight and I believe the 5 meal plan with calories equally distributed across all meals is the key to my particular issue.

I eat 5-6 times per day.

It varies between 3 bigger meals and 2-3 snacks or more of a mini meal type situation.

I've been eating this way for years, love it and will likely never go back to eating any less frequently.

Eating less then 3x per day can't be healthy. Your metabolism has GOT to slow down to a crawl between meals that way. My best friend gained TONS of weight from skipping meals left and right.
