Hello there..
I have 14 weeks to go before my family re-union.
I imagine no one is going to care if I am 30lbs overweight but last time most of these people saw me I was well and in pretty good shape.
For the past 3 years I have been busily caring for my daughter April through out her cancer battle and now that routine has quietened down to a slower pace I find I have gained weight and look and feel tired.
I want to do this for ME.. no one else, and since I have already lost 13lb through watching what I eat, I think the time is right.
I am quite driven to succeed in this.
What I would like to know is :
What can I expect in 14 weeks?
I have Power Hour and the Pyramids on DVD but have not done them yet.
(wanted to lose a bit first so I don't meet my demise half way thru!)
What do you think I should do to optimize the time I have to get the very best results? What works best for you??
I eat a high carb diet, low fat.. would you reccommend I also change that?
I am just very keen to make the most of the time I have available to me.
I am very keen to hear your response..
Thankyou,
Kelly

Well, first of all, I'm not a health expert, but to help keep you feeling more full, try to add more protein into your diet. Say, maybe egg whites, chicken, turkey, fish, any shell fish. Maybe for breakfast you could have one whole egg, and two egg whites, with whatever else you eat. Lunch have a salad with some chicken or tuna with fat free dressing. Be sure to include some snacks so you don't get too famished, like almonds (raw), fat free cottage cheese, maybe string cheese, and maybe have some whole grain crackers with that, or a piece of fruit. Dinner do what you can and what feels good. Don't eat after 7, so try to eat dinner early if you can.
Then be sure to incorporate some weight training, it will speed up your metabolism, and make cardio easier. Start light and then go from there.
To stay healthy you will want to lose around 1 to 2 pounds a week. So, I would say that you could maybe lose up to 28 pounds over the next 14 weeks, but not likely. I would shoot for 14 and if you lose more than that, great!
Ok, like I said, I'm not a health expert, so I may be wrong. But this is what I've read over the years and what seems to work for me.

Give the Pyramids a try, they are great fun! Time flies by doing them. Oh and I've heard mixed things on Cardio, some say cut back others say do at least 3-4 days a week. Do what you think works for you and what you like to do.
Good luck!

Another suggestion re the Pyramids DVD...check out the Bonus combo...it has a mixture of the Upper and Lower body workout plus your only doing part of the Pyramids: sets of 12 reps, 10 reps and 8 reps, then going on the next exercise.

Thankyou, that sounds like great advice.
I know I have to modify my eating.. I have been trying to overcome my over eating urges.. figure how to deal with stresses with out eating them away!
My diet has been dreadful!
If you don't mind I might check in once and a while and keep you posted on how I am doing... the support from this forum is just what I need I think.
Thank you again..
Kelly:)

Of course we won't mind, join in! Besides it's always fun to hear of a persons progresses, and everyone here is great for support when you need it.
