10# Challenge - September 15

Afternoon everyone,
This morning I did STS Meso 1 Disc 1 (C/S/B) and I plan on running on the treadmill tonight while I watch Biggest Loser. :)

Right now, I'm just logging food in Cathe's nutrition software (I only have 5 mos & 27 days left on my subscription and I've yet to make good use of it, lol!) I'll post what I ate and my stats tomorrow (hopefully that will keep me on my toes this evening when I want to snack!)

I didn't weigh myself this morning.....thinking I'll wait a few days until I get the eating under control a bit.

I hear ya on the sugar withdrawls, it's going to be a crabby few days here too! ;)

I feel kind of out of place. Ya'll are in such good shape, with very little weight to lose and I'm sitting here the old, out of shape fatty.:)

Oh Diane, please don't feel out of place. In all honesty, if this was a 25# Challenge, I'd be in...!! I'll be happy with 10 for now though..;)

My foods for today. I'm shooting for 1550-1650 calories a day. I hope that isn't too low. Sometimes my body fights me when I don't eat enough.

M1: ON whey protein shake w/ 1/2 c. blueberries (post workout)
M2: Fresh Cinnamon Roll BSN w/ 1/2 c. oats & 1 tbsp. Naturally More PB
M3: Turkey patty on 1 slice Ezekiel bread w/pickles & thin slice of provolone; 1 tbsp. raw almonds
M4: Chocolate Pro Pudding w/ 1 large banana
M5: Chicken breast & slasa; veggies of some sort
M6: Cinnamon protein pancake w/1 tbsp. Naturally More PB

1580 calories
50 g. fat - 29%
165 g. protein - 42%
122 g. carbs - 31%

I like this breakdown. I'm shooting for 30% fat, 40% protein, 30% carbs.

Hello Everyone!
I did pretty well yesterday - I wrote down everything that I ate, but didn't count calories. I think I'm going to start doing that today - does anyone know where I can find a list of the calories in fruits and veggies? I am a member of sparkpeople, but I haven't used it for a while - I guess I could get back into the swing of that . I did take "before" pictures last night, so hopefully those will keep me somewhat motivated...

I didn't get a run in this morning (8 AM class and I was up WAY too late...), but am planning on doing a 3 mile walk dvd this evening.

Looking forward to watching the Biggest Loser tonight! Also, here's a cool video that I found on youtube - it's probably been shared before, but I thought it was pretty neat :)

Have a great day everyone!

So I've just finished my lunch of turkey burger and a salad with fresh beets, cukes, and cherry tomatoes over some lettuce. Now comes my big problem - I feel like I need something sweet to end my meal! Usually, I grab a mini peppermint patty (or two, three . . . ), some hershey kisses, candy corn (tis the season!), etc., hence the reason why I need to lose 10 pounds! But I didn't eat anything today because of this check in - it's working already!! lol :p

Do any of you guys experience the same problem at the end of your meals? What do you do that has helped??

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I did the Viper and it really did me in! I got through it but it wasn't pretty. I was a bit hungry before I started the workout so that could have something to do with it. Eating yesterday was not bad in terms of food selection but I think I still might have had a bit too much portion wise:

Breakfast: Plain yogurt with 1/3 cup all bran buds
Snack: Small plum and slice of cheese
Lunch: Spinach salad with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes and balsamic vinegarette
Snack: Small handful of almond slivers
Dinner: Salmon, steamed brocolli and roasted potatoes.

OK I have to come clean, in addition to that I did have a couple cheese and meat samples when I went grocery shoppping after work (OOPS!) BUT I resisted the chips that DH was munching on in the evening. So I will stick with the positives. All in all it's an improvement over what got me to this challenge to begin with. ;)

Sounds like everyone is doing really well so far! :D

Laura and Melissa,

Thanks for the support. I'm glad I found this thread. I NEED to be held accountable for my eating and workouts. I was never overweight until I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago. Then I just replaced smoking with food and here I am with 69 pounds to lose.

LOL on the "BTW, you look like you are tickered pink"

Roderin56: I have a horrible sweet tooth after I eat. Here's a list of my low fat/calorie snacks I've been eating. Granted they're not clean, but I have to start somewhere.

Cupcakes made with diet soda rather than eggs and oil. I put them in the freezer and only thaw one at a time. Then I put a bit of whip cream on it unstead of icing.

Sugar free popcycle

Lite Whip Cream between two chocolate graham crackers. Put it in the freezer and it tastes like a ice-cream sandwich.

Hallo ladies,

No workout to report today, except a 30 min. walk with my dogs. My back was hurting (I forgot to take my meds), so I took it easy. My eating is still good. Tomorrow I will go to the gym;)

Take care,

Yep, I do. But this is what I've been doing and it hasn't interferred with my weight loss (except when my vacation time hit). I eat 1 Dove dark chocolate after lunch and dinner. Just one. And I also buy those Viactiv Calcium chews in chocolate and that gives me a chocolate fix. I also have one of those after lunch and dinner. Seems to work for me.

Hi everyone!! I will read the previous posts later- glad to see so many joining the thread. I am so tired today. DH woke up at 1am covered in hives and complaining of his tongue feeling funny - so I played nurse last night. I told him he is copying my chronic idiopathic angioedema (my lips swell with no known cause) and needs to find his own dx. ;)

I went to a meeting last night and there was cake. I caved. I'm on my period - crampy and can't take my drug of choice (Ibuprofen) b/c of the angioedema - so my resistance was pathetic. It was a small piece
~2" x 1". It broke my "cleanse" though. BUT today is a new day.

I plan to get in a workout today - never got to it yesterday - and I will eat better.

Thanks so much for the tips, Diane and Debbie, on the sweets after a meal. I can definately do the dove dark chocolate after lunch (when I'm at work) and I love the graham crackers with cool whip idea for after dinner (at home).
Thanks again!
Erin

I feel like I need something sweet to end my meal!

I have this issue too, Erin, but only at lunch for some reason. I'm working on weaning myself off of Diet Coke. I am down to one per day and have it with my lunch. On days when that doesn't work so well, I make myself a cup of sugar-free hot chocolate. It's 60 calories.

Good Afternoon, everyone! Sounds like you're all starting off great. I had some running around to do today so haven't gotten in my workout yet, but last night I did Bootcamp, and tonight I'm doing some 4DS premix, but I haven't decided which one yet. That's part of my problem...except when I was doing STS, I can't ever set in stone what my workout's going to be. It's usually what I feel like at the moment, and the past few weeks there are days when I just haven't felt like doing anything:( This has got to change!

I'm trying to clean up my eating more. I seem to do great for breakfast and lunch, and then all heck breaks loose around 3 pm and I want to eat anything that's not tied down.

For those loving a sweet snack after a meal, I love a few red grapes with a tiny bit of 70% dark chocolate.

Thanks for mentioning Biggest Loser, because I wasn't aware that it was starting again tonight! I would've been really mad if I'd missed it.

Good luck all!

Hi Melissa!
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Congrats on the Diet Coke success!! I should try the hot chocolate some night - maybe with a shot of espresso in it too. Mmmm! Trying to curb my sweet tooth is sounding like fun!:p:p

Hi everyone!

Gosh, you all are working out so hard - I'm going to have to work harder on the food end of it. I'm 4 days post-op, so yesterday I did LIC on the 4", very modified, no blasts, and no weights above 5#. My heart and lungs were dying to kick it up, but my tummy said nope. No workout for me today.

I'm doing low-carb (well, I should say lowER carb) with Metabolic Research Center. I did pretty good yesterday after a week of no discipline (I'm blaming it on the surgery ), though I'm thinking I would've been better off dishing up a bowl of ice cream as opposed to the "few" bites I had. I'm gonna call yesterday a transitional day and leave it at that.

I did drink 96 oz of water ... in the hopes of shrinking my swollen belly and flushing out my system.

I've lost about 20 lbs, but it's been very slow. It's definitely getting harder now. It's so nice to read everyone's posts (and I really appreciate sharing the slip-ups). We're all human!

Kick it hard today!

Denise ~ I have the problem of choosing workouts too. I might try CLX again. Timewise it works great for me, and I wouldn't have to think about what to do.

Erin~ You are not alone. I drink Click for espresso/chocolate fix. When I am really craving chocolate, I bake these low fat fudge chocolate chip muffins from Bethenny Frankel's recipes. Very chocolatey.

I would like to join you all. I've lurked here for a while, and I think this is the perfect thread to make me start posting and keep me accountable! I'm also looking forward to seeing what other people are eating so I can get some ideas! I have about 15-20lbs to lose, but 10 would be a great start.

Meals for today

B-Cream of Wheat, 1 whole wheat toast with almond butter, chicken sausage
S-Zone bar-chocolate almond
L-Turkey burger on sandwich thin, vegetable beef soup
S-Cottage cheese and blueberries
D-Tilapia, whole wheat pasta with sauce, green beans

Workout will be either Imax 2 or 4DS Step premix

Jenn

Laura ~ I think I may be doing lower carb. I followed the Curves dietin the spring and lost 10#s in the 30 day cycle - which is good for my very stubborn fat cells. I chose the higher protein version. The Curves higher protein version does allow for some whole wheat breads, pasta, etc. which I am considering eliminating to see if it helps with my endometriosis symptoms (gotta try something since I can't take NSAIDs). Maybe I should just go with Atkins and see how I do? You've got me thinking...

LauraMax - Oh boy, that is definitely the grocery trip from hell! I'm so sorry that happened!

I did really good yesterday and ate very clean. For my workout I did Muscle Endurance - the express version. I forgot how much I love this workout!

Now we'll see how I do tonight. That's when I have my eating fits and feel like I have to have something sweet. It sure is nice to know I'm not the only one!

Cheers everyone!! Here's to not overeating after our next meal :)

Hey, you know what would be cool? If we added up all the weight we lost when we're done. That would be a great entry for Cathe's blog. :D

Laura - I think that is such a great idea!

Ooops! I'm sorry if we were using the original thread for the entire challenge.

Erin - We will need a knew thread every day, so you did fine!

Good-morning all!

I feel kind of out of place. Ya'll are in such good shape, with very little weight to lose and I'm sitting here the old, out of shape fatty.:)

Anyway, yesterday was a good day for me. I'm doing Weight Watcher's for now and was right on points.

Today I did a short walk/jog on my treadmill. Later, after school with ds, we will go to the gym to play raquetball.

Have a great day!
Diane

Diane - Not all of us were always in shape. I personally weighed over 180 and wore a size 14 at one point.

Do any of you guys experience the same problem at the end of your meals? What do you do that has helped??
Erin

Erin - I have this problem all the time. My favorites are a few raisens & almonds, 86% dark chocolate or today was mejool dates.
