10"-17"stool

I have nothing to do on Sundays but play on the computer! Just kidding, but I am back on to see if anyone had responded yet to my other question, and I looked at the descrioptions of the new videos while I was at it. Now, never having one any of Cathe's videos except TWV, I am not familiar with the stool that she's using ( I think she uses it in other videos, too, am I right?). Nor do I have a barbell for that matter, but a few months ago I mantioned this lack and got lots of responses that said I can modify with dumbells until I want to go ahead and get a barbell.( Can you imagine how long-winded I am in person if this is how I am in writing!!) I did notice a post recently somewhere about transforming a step into a stool, but I don't happen to have an extra step just laying around, so... will my Reebok step work ( I can put it up to 10")? Is it just used to put the weights on , or do step-ups, or what? Do I need to put my boyfriend to work--send him to Home Depot, get out the tools, etc.?
Just want to be prepared for when these long awaited videos arrive

Thanks again,

I'd like to know too

Wendy, I don't have a barbell or a tall stool either. I just ordered the 8-pak yesterday and I've been trying to figure out rotations and if I definately HAVE to purchase a barbell or if I can modify until I have the apporpriate cash flow. I can rob Peter to pay Paul but.... So please educated crowd help me and Wendy figure this out! Thanks!!!

I use a cheap workout bench

The kind that you lie down on and it has a little rack above for a barbell. You can get them at Sears or Walmart for $25 or so. It is 16" high and I just turn it so that I step on the end without the rack. If I didn't have this, I'm sure I would just use a kitchen chair. After all, Cathe either sits on it for concentration curls, or she steps up and down on it like in PS legs. Nothing fancy or dancy, so it remains stable.

tall box

I haven't previewed the new videos, but am guessing that you're referring to a tall box similar to the one used in PS Legs & Abs. An inexpensive option is to send the boyfriend to Home Depot to buy a tall work stool. Much cheaper than tools! Rubbermaid makes one too. Mine (non-Rubbermaid) is 14". The extra height makes a big difference (your glutes will be screaming at you).

Rubbermaid Tool Box & Step Stool

You can find them at Target and probably K-Mart and Wal-Mart as well.

It's a tool box and a step stool combined. It stands about 13-14 inches tall, you can store things inside it and it has a carrying handle. I like it because it is quite sturdy, especially if you keep anything inside. I use it for step-ups on its own. I got this tip from Video Fitness -- it's a common subsititute for the tall box that the FIRM uses in many of its videos.

If I want to make it taller, I rest it on top of my step -- I can make it either 18", 20" or 22" tall by doing this. (I have The Step by the Step Company, but I'm pretty sure it would work on the Reebok step as well -- just not positive, since the Reebok step is a tad more narrow.)

I think my Rubbermaid toolbox/step stool cost between $12 and $15 when I bought it two years ago at Target. Mine is basic black. I can't remember where I found it in the store -- I think with closet organizers and such, but you could also check the hardware area. I recommend it highly.

Thank you!

Daphne,
Thanks for the details--I'll get to Target ASAP--I love that store anyway, so I might as well go soon

10-17" step

I use our cooler turned upside down! I started doing this with FIRM video's for their tall box climb segments. Works great. Be sure you turn it upside down!

Cooler Idea, Thanks

Thanks for the great idea. I have a cooler that the lid broke off and I was going to throw it away. Now I know what to do with it. THANKS....
