1 Rep Max Overwhelming

I just went to the workout manager for the 1 rep max and I am totally overwhelmed!!!!!!!! Where do I start??? Won't this take FOREVER to do??

Laura

I know what you mean, it is overwhelming to start.

I'm thinking when I get STS I'll just review and do the 1 rep calculator as I see it ::shrugs::

No kidding, huh? All the change is so confusing! And there's so many options on the forums I'm afraid I won't be able to take advantage of them all!

Hang in there! We'll all be figuring it out together!

Best,

I'm obsessing on figuring it all out as soon as possible because I am so overwhelmed. I've hardly looked at the workout manager yet...maybe I'll head over there now.

Too Much!

I'm glad I'm not the only one overwhelmed! Too much for me!

I did purchase STS, but I don't want my workout to become a part-time job or take on a life of its own! All this 1 Rep Max appears to really be turning people off.

I just want to do my workout and be done with it.

It is really overwhelming. There is so much to check out and see. Sometimes the Workout Manager works for me and other times a "security token is missing" and I can’t get in. I really wanted to review the 1RM more.

I don’t want to go through all of those exercises now and then have to do it again when I receive STS. I was thinking about doing the 1RM for each exercise when STS ships, then I will have something to do while I wait for the postman at my door. :D

I feel the same way!
I havent even purchased STS yet (but i will!!!)
but this 1 RM is crazy!!! Seems very complicated to me.. I really hope Cathe can gives us some insigth..

Dont get me wrong, I do think it will be fun!
(and that is why I love cathe workouts, its fun and Im here for that)
But now, it just seem very confusing!

I agree, too. I'm just not going to the workout manager for a while. Hoping they bugs get worked out and we get more instruction on how to use it.

I'm thinking that the best way to start recording your one rep max is while you are doing the workout.

P90X has you record your 1 rep max. The first week was a learning week for me and most of the people I've met who did the X. I learned when to push and pace myself for future workouts.

Even though STS is different from P90X because of the sheer volume of different workouts in STS, I'm assuming the same theory would work -- write down your 1 rep max as you do it. Listen to your body. And, adjust for the next workout.

Perhaps Cathe will include a breakdown of exercises for each phase to help you determine which exercises to test your 1 rep max. However, knowing me, I'll just plunge into it and skip doing the 1 rep max before the workout.

I found when I go from the forum to Workout Manager I'm not logged in and if I try to log in again, I get that same error. One workaround that seems to be effective is to log out from the forums, then go to WM and log in again.

I posted this in the STS forum, but this is how I'm going to go at it

It seems easier to me rather than going thru the STS 1RM disc by disc, which I started doing, go straight to the one that says list all STS exercises, then go thru them one by one - you won't be repeating and will hit them all. Just go thru alphabetically and do them one by one. From what I can tell, the some of the same exercises are in each workout, just with a dif % of the 1RM which will calculate on the workout card. If you just list all the exercises with out selecting the STS option - you will get a gazillion choices, if its just STS, its really not so many. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I found that there were only a few exercises I didn't know - looking at the blog pics will help as will Google. Also, there were many that I already know which wt I top out at 10 reps. I know how many squats, curls, kickbacks, etc I can do with what wt, so I didn't necessarily have to test those.

Spyrosmom,

I totally forgot about the different percentages of the 1RM for STS. Looks like I won't be able to plunge into STS. Thanks for the suggestion to look at STS exercises instead of disc by disc.
