RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs! :) :) :)

What a dope! I just posted this thread on the OD accidentally. DOH! :D Welcome to Monday...

Shelly—FANTASTIC on bustin' a PR in spite of the bitter, bitter cold and fatigue in the late miles. I do believe you are still the iron cheetah! I don't know who in the world could run up those steps after. That's just plain insane! I have done a couple city races, and I love the pretzels at the end. Nothin’ like ‘em! J Could be the buildings threw off your Garmin a little. How are you feeling today?

Karen—thanks for reaching out with good wishes even though you are in your own private hell right now. (((HUGS))) to you. I hope you are holding up as best you can during this time of worry and uncertainty.

That catches me up...

Monday is typically a rest day, and as much as I would like to make up for yesterday’s migraine-thwarted workout, I have to work late with parent conferences. Which means, realistically, it may not happen. And that’s OK with me b/c I still feel out of it from the residual effects. Somtimes they are a little worse than other times. I'll admit, it would feel great to spend the day in bed, but that’s not an option, so I will be making the best of it & have myself a good one. JJJ

Hope everyone has an enjoyable Monday!

Hi Cheetahs.

I wasn't around yesterday cause I didn't have a computer. My PC was workin' as of saturday before my "nap time" but when I woke up and tried to get on, I couldn't "wake" it up. I tried turning it off and on, blah blah blah. I couldn't get any farther then it partially loading windows before it would crash. I was not happy. :( I didn't have the chance to go shopping for a new one until later in the day y'day so I had to go with out until then....Not a good scene!!!:eek::eek:

So anywho, I officially finished up my leg blast rotation I was doing on Saturday so I started FitnessFreak's 08 Get Ready For Summer rotation yesterday with Double Upper Body from BM2. YEOWCH! Today is cardio. The subscribed cardio is a Kickmax premix but well, I'll probably end up on the TM. :p

I'll be back in a bit to catch up with personals. :D

Hey Cheetahs!

Just popping in for a minute and will do personals later.

Cathy- sending you feel better vibes to get through today ~~~~~

Happy Anniversay Christine!

Continued prayers are in order for Karen and family

Shelly- congrats again for sticking it out in the cold and getting a PR! I'll need some of your cold weather advice for the March 8th half marathon. (What was I thinking?)

Today is a 7 mile run according to plan, but I was up to 10 already on my own. I will probably stick to between 7-8 miles and go hilly from home to save drive time.

Then it is clean max, list max and hopefully a bit of gift buying max from the computer. I did get 3 gifts last night at an invitation only sale at Ann Taylor for MIL, SIL and DNeice ( God Daughter)

Back for personals.

Thankfully it wasn't busy in the den y'day! LOL

Posh: I was never a napper until after DS was born. Even when he was a newborn, when I SHOULD have been napping, I really didn't. I didn't start to nap until he was older...once I picked up the job at the gym. It sucks the energy right outta me some days so all I wanted to do was sleep when I got home! LOL Hope you have to deal with nothing but the most polite of students today. :)

Cathy: So do the legs feel after the leg blast premix? YEOWCH! Just thinkin' about that one brings on DOMS for me! :D

Carole: Glad PITA finally showed up. Enjoy your long run today!

Christine:
Yeah, 8 years of loving him, wanting to murder him and hide the body :p and everything in between
I think anyone whose been with the same man for more then 6 months feels that way! :p The jewelry party was nice. I bought a necklace and a pair of earrings to go with it. I really didn't need it but oh well. LOL I'm gonna see if one of my inlaws wants to buy it off of me as a Christmas gift since I am awful at coming up with ideas.

Gloria: Sounds like you had fun shopping y'day. Good for you. I LOVE retail therapy. It's a MUST for every woman. ;) Glad you had a nice visit with your mom as well. Good luck deciding what to buy DH for Christmas. I have the same struggle every year.

Shelly: CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS! You did awesome, Cheetah! WOO HOO! Sorry it was so cold but you pushed through it like the TROOPER that you are! ;)

Okay, it took me a while to get this done but I can finally post it now. LOL I'm not workin' today so I'll be back in a bit. Gotta drop the little guy at school and I'll probably hit the foodstore right afterwards.

BBL!

Good morning!

Shelly – That is an awesome marathon you ran! Great job on the time! How are you feeling today? Yum! The soft pretzels would be a great post marathon food to have!!! What did you use to drink and eat during your marathon? Did you just drink what they had on the course, or did you carry yours? Sorry! Too many questions!!! :)

Gloria – I am excited for you to get and try your tights! Let me know what you think of them! I hope you like them as much as I do!

Christine – Happy “belated” anniversary!

Cathy – Oh dear! I am sorry about your migraine! I hope you are 100% soon! I wonder if it is the relief from passing? I hope you have a good day and aren’t plagued for very much longer with the lingering effects!

Wendy – I am sorry about your ‘puter!! Did you like the Leg Blast rotation? Did you get some “good” results from it? I am just now starting to try to get back to my “normal” legwork!

Judy – Good job on the Ann Taylor shopping! I think that is my favorite clothing store! Also…enjoy your run! You are doing awesome on adding your mileage and being ahead of schedule!

Last night I managed to get in a 4 mile run and all of GS Legs. It was good to sleep in my own bed! :)

Hey to everyone! I am sooo glad this will be a short week!

Linda

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I was glad I kept the peace with Dsis. I can feel my other sisters doing the very same...:)..The 18 went well...Karen is right as the 2nd time you tackle the new distance seems to be easier. I am sure the new kicks helped...:D..American Gangster is a long movie. Sorry about the migraine, rest was a good idea yesterday. Hope you get through your long work day. I bet you will feel much better tomorrow AM!

Wendy...LMBO about you starting a Get Ready For Summer rotation (in the fall!)!! Enjoy your cardio day....

Judy...the run went well, and it ended up being a bit warmer that I expected..Enjoy your run today and all of your max doings.

Linda...Good job with the 4 miles and all of GS legs.

Shelly...That is awesome you PR'd. Who cares about it only being by 3 min it is still a PR!! You did great in those frigid temps!! I do so hate being cold. LOL about the "Rocky" theme. Fatigue does seem to come in those last miles..I know you were happy with yourself for pushing through the fatigue and finishing. A pretzel after would be wonderful!! I have done a couple of races when my Garmin showed more that the original distance...what can ya do! How are you feeling today?

Christine...I was just surprised about the advertising on the Pilates chair. They really draw you in with the $14.95 trial offer without ANY mention of the total price, even on their website!! I had to google to find the real price through some other site. I personally think that sucks...Glad the Thanksgiving dinner went well and kudos to your DD15's BF!!!

Gloria...I find myself less likely to keep my mouth shut as I age! With PITA this has just been going on forever without anyone saying a thing, but I believe times are changing. Good buy on the UA shirt and then the Cathe vest!! I have been looking at that vest...:)...Glad you had a nice time with Mom.

The 18 miles went well yesterday, but I was a bit tired from the previous days up and down the stairs at Mom's. We got all of the packing done at Mom's yesterday and now the next step is the Garage sale. It feels great to be done!! So many memories in that house...:)

I have to work today to get in a few clients because of Thanksgiving. I plan on doing CTX upper body, abs and a 5 mile run.

Have a great day...:)

CArole - Good job on the 18 yesterday! By the way....I loved the "greetings" you put into your post to Shelly and Cathy yesterday! Glad you guys have figured out a way to keep peace with PITAs! ;) enjoy your 6 and CTX today! Don't work too hard!

Linda

Linda...thanks re: the greetings, I just love sparkly things!! Hopefully I won't have to deal with PITA again for awhile...:D...I only have 2 clients so I won't work too hard...:)

Hiya Cheetahs!

Gloria – Glad you had a good time with your mom yesterday! Sounds like you scored some good buys yesterday!! I love my snowshoes – don’t get to use them too much here in the Bay Area, but I adore them when I go to Tahoe. Do you snowshoe?

Cathy – Glad you are celebrating – you deserve it!! Sorry you had a migraine yesterday – no fun. I hope you’re feeling better today!!

Shelly – GREAT JOB SHELLY!!! Wow a PR and you were not even feeling in top shape?! I’m impressed! Soft pretzels at the end? Ohhh, I miss those. I can get them around here, but they are not the same. Sounds like a good alternative. :p

Karen – thanks for the Happy Anniversary wishes. Hope all is well for you!

Wendy – Oh no – computer issues are never fun!! Enjoy your workout today! Yeah, I totally agree with the being with one man for over 6 months! Glad you enjoyed the party!

Judy – thanks for the Anniversary wishes! Enjoy your max lists…

Linda – I can imagine that it was nice to sleep in your own bed! Nothing like that, I’ll tell ya!

Carole – ITA that they need to publish the price and not pretend it’s $14.95. That’s horrible that you had to search so much to get the price. Good job on the 18 miles! Wow – all the packing is done! Amazing. I’ll bet it was so bittersweet!

Today is a rest day. I’m fighting a cold, and I want to take it easier today. I ended up taking Jimmy for an 8 mile hike/trail run yesterday. Poor guy got attacked by another dog. Dog was walking with some people, off leash. Jimmy and I approached from behind. I had Jimmy on leash. I warned the people that I had a dog and was behind them. The younger woman said to the dog, “Do you want to meet the puppy?” So, I figured the dog was safe until I heard the bimbo say, “Be Nice!” Just seconds before the dog attacked. We were on a rim trail with a steep uphill and a steep downhill on either side of the trail, Jimmy slipped his collar (thank heavens, he could have been hung!) and slid down the slope into some brambles. By this time I was yelling at the people “Put your **#%$@^%# dog on a leash if he is known to be dog aggressive!!” I was wondering if I was going to have to go down to get Jimmy and wondering how I would do it, but decided to try to call him first. Thank heavens he’s agile as he managed to get up the slope on his own. The other people just said, “Sorry.”:mad: I was so angry that after I checked out Jimmy to make sure he was okay (he has a cut on his nose probably from the dog’s tooth, but other than that he’s fine), I stalked off. But man, did I let those idiots have it. I found out later that this dog had attacked another dog on the trail as well. I want to ring those people’s freaking necks. Idiots! But, fortunately Jimmy is okay (well, exhausted from the hike – but that’s good!). Poor guy would not leave my side yesterday. I think he thought I was mad at him. :( But, we did end up having a really nice hike after that. I went a little faster than I normally would, so I’m a little sore today. Got up at 2AM to hit the loo, and had to chuckle as I was listing to port a bit. :p I figured I needed a break this morning. Have a great day all!

Christine- oh my gosh! Poor jimmy. I
am glad he is ok! I would have been furious too! I hope they realized how utterly stupid they were for not having there dog on a leash! Good that you are resting today! Good job on the trailrun!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Shelly - CONGRATULATIONS on finishing the marathon!!! And you got a PR out of it to boot!! You the woman! Sounds like you had fun too.

Cathy - Sorry to hear yet another migraine interfered with your workout yesterday. Hope it's all gone by the end of the day. Good luck with the conferences today. You have earned a night of relaxation when you get home.

Wendy - Sorry for the computer woes. Did you really have to buy a new one?

Judy - How was that hilly 7 miler today? Good to get a jump on those holiday gifts. Is your Ann Taylor going out of business? I don't know if ours will on the chopping block or not. I haven't gone in ages.

Linda - Good job on the 4 miles and GS Legs! Quite a workout! Glad you got to sleep in your own bed. I'm right there with you about the short week. This year I decided to take the day after TG off.

Carole - Glad your weekend went well with the sis. Good job on the 18 miles too. You got a lot accomplished. Any idea when the garage sale will be? Mom improving? Nice of you to accomodate your customers. My stylist is doing the same thing. Enjoy UB and your run today.

Christine - Enjoy your rest day! Hope you can keep that cold away. How awful about the dog attacking Jimmy. So glad he's ok. I would be furious too. Some owners just need to take more interest in what their dog is up to.

Hello to all others.

Yesterday was a rest day for me. Today was iTread #22 20 minutes and 4DS Back & Chest and LIS core.

Have a great day ladies!

Howdy y'all! Feelin pretty darn good today. Just finished doing BM2 bood camp premix:D I go back to work tonight and the next night so I'll take a rest day tomorrow. My quads are a tad sore but other then that I'm good to go:) they have some nice videos of the race yesterday but no official results yet. I know my finish time but I'm curious to see all the splits, etc. I was stoked up with post race pretzels and starbucks coffee so the drive back wasn't too bad at all. Boy did that shower yest afternoon feel good tho!!!!

Cathy- Thanks for your congrats... you may be right about the tall buildings throwing off the Garmin... hadn't thought of that! So sorry you had to deal with those crippling migraines yest.... sure hope those parent conferences dont bring on a fresh attack for you! Best of luck and congratulations again on passing those boards... Cant stress that enough what a truly awesome accomplishment that is!! MUCH harder then completing a marathon IMHO.

Wendy- YIKES! Our Wendy with NO computer!!!! You must have been really crawlin the walls! LOL. Great job on the double upperbody from BM2! Thanks you for the congratulations.... I was thinking of you yesterday and missing having someone to babble to mindlessly!

Judy- Oh come now... you hardly need me for cold weather race advice!!! Heck, it's pretty frigid up there now where you are... colder then Philly certainly and you're out there banging out 7-10 miles like it was nuthin! YOU ROCK!!! and you're gonna be great for you HM in March. There is a half mary in Chambersburg, PA (where I work) in late March that I will likely be doing.

Linda- I have some quad soreness and a little achiness in my L achilles tendon area, but that's not new. All in all feeling pretty darn good today! I drank what the race provided... water and gatorade. The water stations were treacherous tho... all the spilled liquid froze and you really had to go CAREFULLY! I ate a couple of CLIF bars before hand (my usual practice) and supplemented with Gu Roctane gel. I took 4 of them with me but only used 2. I started to feel queezy after mile 16 or so with all the Gatorade and gel sloshing in my gut and could only tolerate a little more gatorade and mostly water after that. At mile 22 they were offering beer... I got to tell you I felt like puking just from inhaling the beer fumes!! I did deal with a little cramping but honestly it wasn't that bad. Nice workout today with the 4 mile run and GSlegs!!!

Carole- Awesome job in kicking out those 18 miles after a day of packing!!! LOVED, your congratulation bouquets yest!! Thanks... you're right a PR is a PR!!! Like I said yest... I'll take it!!! It just feels good psycholigically to crack that 4:30 time! I felt a little worse in the last few miles of this marathon then I have in the past. The course did have a feature that I didn't really care for. After running across the downtown and back and thru Fairmount Park some we went back to the Museum of Art where the Half Marathoners finished and we poor full marathon schmucks had to keep going knowing we were only half way thru! That actually was the start of the hardest part too... a 6.5 mile mostly upgrade altho mild along the Schuykill river with an icy wind blowing right off of it. That part really took a lot out of me! Hey, BTW... congrats on the restraint and patience in dealing with PITA sis (you should get a medal!)

Christine- Thank so much for the congrats... I definitely feel pretty proud of pushing my way thru this one!! Oh my, I was BURNING mad reading your post about Jimmy getting attacked!!! What brainless idiots!!! Sure am relieved that he wasn't seriously hurt... poor guy!!!

Gloria- thanks for your kind words yest!

Wendi- Thank you also for the congrats... wish you could have been there. The half marathon portion is great.... you'd really like it!!

That's it for now cheetahs... gotta help DH move some big shelving downstairs, then it's nap time!

Jackie- ya snuck in there on me... posting together today:) Thanks for your kind congrats. I did have fun.... MOSTLY;) Well, a little pain and discomfort is inevitable with any marathon. Your big day is fast approaching isn't it?

Hi Girls.

I ended up hittin' the gym for a 30 minute/3 mile run before picking DS up from school this afternoon. I did part of Itread 3/40 mins in that time. I'm CONSIDERING either doing 4DS kickbox or bootcamp right now or maybe even heading back to the gym in a bit with DS for another 30 min run or to take the pilates class I took last week....Decisions decisions. :p

Shelly: OMG there is nothin' better then the shower after a long hard run or race! The only thing better would be a hot tub! LOL about the mindless babble. Your babble wasn't mindless. I had fun talkin' to ya during the 18 miler. You helped keep me going. Towards the end I wanted to slug ya though...but only for being so happy and peppy while I was tired and in so much pain! LOL :p

Jackie: Nice work out today. Hope your time with DBF was good. Do anything fun? Not sure if we really HAD to buy a new one but that PC was 8 years old. It served me/us well. It wasn't worth the $$/aggravation and withdrawal I would have to go through in order to give it in to possibly get fixed when I was able to go out and buy one in 10 minutes flat the next day! :D

Christine: Oh my gosh, how awful! I'm so glad Jimmy is okay though! (((HUGS))) to you and him!!! People can be real jack-a$$es!!! It drives me nuts! When I run outside I carry mace and let me tell you it's more incase of a stray dog or a dog being walked off-leash that shouldn't be then a crazy person! I am automatically fearful of any dog I do not know.

Carole: Hey, I'm just gettin' ready for summer really early this year!!! ;):D I'm gonna have the biggest guns on the beach by the time June rolls around!:p Long work out you have planned for today. Enjoy it.

Linda: So how was your Turkey Day celebration? Was it as much fun as it sounded like it would be? I don't know what, if any results I got from the leg rotation as I wasn't on spot with food nor did I weigh or measure before/after I did it. I enjoyed it though. I considered doing it again instead of doing the one I started y'day but I thought I might get bored half way through and quit. That being said, it's gonna have to wait a while now as I'll be training for my mary soon and a leg rotation is probably not the smartest route to take while training! LOL :p

Alrighty, that catches me up.

Off to decide what I'm gonna do as far as work out #2 goes!!!!:D

BBL!

Monday, Monday...

Hey Yawl –

Today I’m itreading it again – if I can stand Grace. Sometimes her constant yammering drives me nuts. lol. Yesterday, DD18 came by for a visit and breakfast. She’s on break from school in Napa – came and got her car and I’ve hardly seen her since! LOL She’s very social! Funny kid though, she’s been out looking for a job to start when she is done with the semester and comes back home in 3 weeks. Guess she misses working and the extra cash, huh?

Cathy – Awe dang, that migraine stuff is the pits. Love your optimism on making the best of today though and hope that you are feeling better – dang, I coulda subbed your classes today so youse could stay home and recover though. LOL Could you imagine ME subbing your classes  …hahhahhahahahaha. You’d probably come in the next day and say, “WTHeck happened in here?” Ohhh, but I probably couldn’t swing the parent conferences....pffffftttuuh…hheeeee heeeee… Remember …there’s always tomorrow…..and Wednesday…and…;)

Wendy – I understand how work can zap ya and generate a need for a nap! Problem for me is, I get tired AT work, but am fired up when I get home. LOL. Sorry about your computer, but the bright side is you gots ta get a new one! yessuuh! What kind did you get? Last time I had to buy, I went for the laptop and love it!

Judy – Hope your hilly run was divine. I go “hilly” too in Auburn when I want to save drive time. I need to pull out and dust off “CleanMax” sometime today…:)

Linda – Yeah, sometimes after being away on vacation it is nice to get home to sleep on our own bed. Liked the links you posted for the tights – have to keep them in mind for someday. Right now, with all my “junk in the trunk” I am liable to scare the bageeebers outta someone if they saw me running down the road in some of them…lol. How do you like the GS legs? I have the other GS’s but not the legs. Figured it had some same stuff Cathe already does on her other leg DVD’s…

Carole – How bout’ dem BOYS, heh? :D I sent you a PM. Great job on another 18 miler! You are really doing great! Especially after all the previous day’s “stairclimber”..lol. Another IRON Cheetah..lol. Hey, instead of Tofurky, I got me a Quorn Turkey Roast this year. I forgot all about them until I saw it at Whole Foods. IMO, they’re better than Tofurky. I also picked up some of the Quorn gruyere cheese fillets… OMG...forgot that was some red flag food…lol. Only special occasion for them babies!

Christine – LOL re: listing to port side. Awe again, so sorry about poor ol’ Jimdog…gggrrrrrr….you already know what I thought of that situation! lol. Give that boy another big sshhhhqquueeeezzzuh and a why not another treat..lol. Youse guys are funny about the cracks re: the DH’s! I must be the minority here, but I like my DH much better nowadays than when we met…go figure. Hope you were able to fend off that cold.

Jackie – Love them 4D’s too. Smart move to take day after Thanksgiving off! Makes for a nice 4 day weekend, huh? :D

Shelly – huh? you did boot camp the day after a marathon? holy shhmoley. Again, congrats and just so you know, your split times are listed in the runner look-up area that I tracked you on and posted your finish time here. Also, funny thing is my Garmin will always come out more than the actual race too. My theory is that if one is NOT running in a straight line throughout the course, then perhaps the Garmin is logging “extra” from the zig-zagging on the roads and of course, the slight detour off course for any of the porta-loo stops. :p lol.

Hello to the rest of Cheetahland – Karen, Wendi, Gloria, Dallas, Brighton, John-boy, Jim-bob, Mary-Ellen…

Have a great day, Friends!

POSH

I'm back.

I chose to work out at home during nap time instead hauling a$$ back to the gym. I was about to pop in 4DS kickbox when I saw the Turbo Jams so I chose Cardio Party 2, strapped on the weighted gloves and went to town! Such fun! :D

Posh: I wanted to go the laptop route but I don't think DH was prepared to shell out the bucks this close to Christmas for a PC so he wanted to go the cheaper route for now. We will get a laptop though. I'll make sure of it! ;) I ended up going with an E-machine. It was a great deal at under $300 for the tower, speakers, keyboard and mouse. We have a perfectly good monitor so I didn't need it anyway. What made it even better is that it came with Windows XP and not Vista! I was told Vista is horrible! Usually if I'm tired after work, I will stay tired until I lay down UNLESS I force myself to work out. Sometimes that will give me a 2nd wind...but sometimes it just makes me feel worse. That being said, I opt for the nap whenever possible!:p

Alrighty, gotta feed the little guy! He never eats this late but momma was busy yappin' on the phone earlier!

BBL!

Hey Cheetahs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things are going well in the Rockies. :) Saturday I decided to brave the great outdoors and got a 2 mile run in, no walking this time. Felt awesome! I'm really hoping that if I play things smart this injury will be history. Yay!!!! :D :D :D

Today I headed back to the gym and got 2.5 miles of running in and then spent 25 min on the EXT. The treadmill run was great-- just did what felt good, no pressure...

Tonight we are headed to watch DH's baby brother in his HS production of West Side Story. Should be fun... Nice to get out for a week night "date." MIL is baby-sitting.

The kids are doing great. DD is starting to get back to normal sleep patterns, so that has made a world of difference. She was up again at 3am last night, but was able to get herself back to sleep. Hooray! :)

Shelly!: WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!! :D Under 4:30! WOO HOO!!!!!!!! :D That is so awesome, and what a fantastic time! You have given me a lot of much-needed inspiration! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Ack! Those water stations sound like they were “fun!” Me + Ice = SPLAT! LOL…

Christine: Oh no!!!! Poor Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!! ITA about aggressive dogs on leashes! I probably would have let those people have a piece of my mind too!!!! :( Oooh, that just makes me mad. And I’m right there with ya on the road biking. I’m not brave enough for the mountain biking. Dealing with cars is enough thrill-seeking for me. ;) DH & I just got new Treks this summer, did some riding in Tahoe. DH & BIL did the insane climb to Emerald Bay. I was too chicken. Love to get out and ride, though! Happy Belated Anniversary!!!!

Cathy: I know it’s been said before, but CONGRATS on passing the boards!!!!!!!!!! :D That is so awesome! Hope the migraine is taking a vacation today.

Posh: Love Vertigo as well! I’ve always had a soft spot for Jimmy Stewart too… Love Cary & Jimmy together in Philadelphia Story. It makes me laugh no matter how many times I see it. “Oh C.K. Dexter Haaaaaaaaven!” LOL :D

Wendy: Sorry to hear about the computer troubles. That is never fun. :(

And can I just say I am super impressed with everyone's running prowess lately??? Jackie, Judy, Carole... seems like everyone is just tearing it up out there!!!!!!!!!

Warm hellos to Karen, Linda, Gloria, Dallas, Wendi... and anyone else in the den!!! :) :) :)

Happy Monday, everyone!!!!
