    Thank you Cathe

Hi Cathe - I find myself thanking you a lot this week so I thought I'd share this with you, in case you check the forum. I just had foot surgery on Monday, and won't be able to put any weight on it for at least 6 weeks. Every time I stand myself up on my one good leg (without needing a...

Can I do STS if I don't have a squat rack and can't do plyo legs?

Definitely! You could certainly do all of Mesos 1 and 2, since neither requires a squat rack nor any jumping. For me, that alone would be worth it -- those 2 were where I saw my biggest gains. As for Meso 3, you could getball the benefits of the upper body workouts, and perhaps sub some other...

How does one stop being a worrier?

One of the most effective treatments for anxiety is CBT -- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. No drugs, it takes at most 6 weeks of sessions with a trained psychologist, and can help change the way you respond to the events of your life. A good CB therapist can help you recognize the negative...

    MESO Cycle 1

I too had to pause a few times in Meso 1, but have hardly had to do that at all in Meso 2. In Meso 2, the breaks are 60 seconds, and you work each body part to exhaustion, so those 2 factors make weight changes less frequent. Congrats on getting through Meso 1 -- I hope you love M2 also...

    Question for hairdressers

Hi folks - I would love some hair dying advice. I have been using a semi-permanent store-bought (Garnier HerbaShine) dye on my hair for many months to make it red (level 6). My natural color is a dark blond/light brown. I was thinking of going blonde (not platinum, just a bit lighter than...

Reviews on the Pull-Up aka Push-Pull Tower?

I have to agree. I have just started M2 with both the tower and the slanted risers (didn't have either the first time around) and they make a HUGE difference. In addition to the pull-up capabilities (I had to use tubing the first time), I love having a weight rack. I can use much heavier...

    Help, I've missed two weeks

Yes, I would restart Meso 3 if I were you. You will be surprised how quickly you are back to what you were before the move and the illness. And if I may, try not to be so hard on yourself for missing 2 weeks! Moving is a huge deal with lots of stress, and listening to your body while sick...

    Happy Monday

a few quick questions Hi Cathe - I have a few quick questions for you about doing upper body work while recovering from foot surgery. I am trying to squeeze in STS Meso 1 and 2 right before the surgery, then 2 weeks of recovery, after which I will be allowed to do upper body weights, but...

    Question on STS

When I first did STS, I did it the same way you said, with only 2 days of cardio per week, on a 3 month rotation, and dropped 3 sizes (and by mixing in STS with cardio over teh last year, I have kept it all off). So yes, it definitely works for weight loss. Building muscle does, in itself...

    how important is recovery week?

Thanks. The first time I did STS, I did take the recovery weeks and loved them. But I think I am going to power through to get in as much as possible before my rest months. You asked about what to do next, and I wanted to mention that after I completed STS, I did Insanity and I thought it...

    squeezing in STS before surgery?

Hi Cathe - I could really use some advice. I am trying to squeeze in Meso 1 and 2 before having foot surgery in mid-June, which will take me out for 6-8 weeks. But I don't have enough days to squeeze in the full rotation if I take the recovery week. I have already compressed each Meso to do...

    Fage = Lactose?

I am highly LI and eat Fage all the time, but I do always take a Dairy-Ease pill before I eat one, just to be sure. When I eat something I know has lactose in it, I usually take several pills, but just 1 is fine for Fage.

    HIIT on a high step?

I only have 4 risers, but was able to do all the jumping moves from STS plyo strength on the high step. So for those of you that have done HIIT, do you think it would be ok to do it on a high step with 4 risers, or will I need to do it on the bigger step with only 2 on each side? I can't quite...

which insanity dvd is your favorite?

Pure Cardio turned out to be my favorite from the first month but if you really want a sense of what the program is like, I recommend Plyo Cardio Circuit or Cardio Power & Resistance. Both follow similar formats of a few exercises with a rest, and lots of plyo mixed in with some push-ups and...

Another insanity thread... but please help :)

I am in the middle of my first Insanity rotation right now, and I think they are harder than anything Cathe does too, because the rests are so short and you are working so hard. But they hold no dread factor for me -- I find them totally addictive, because when I put my all into them, the...

    STS strength and Insanity rotation?

Since I asked the original question, I can't say anything about a combined program. But I am just about to do my last day of Month 1 of Insanity and I think it's awesome! I can't do a scale or measurements (exacerbates my eating disorder) but I can tell you that I have muscle definition in my...

    STS strength and Insanity rotation?

Has anyone designed a rotation with these 2 programs? I have 1 month left to go in my Insanity program, and I know I want to do STS strength next, but I don't want to lose all the cardio endurance I have gained from Insanity (plus I find these workouts totally addictive, which is weird because...

First visit to Podiatrist - What should I expect?

I had the surgical procedure that one of the earlier posters mentioned, and can't say enough good things about it. I had really flat feet, inserts didn't help that much, and I had a lot of foot and back pain. The surgery is an out-patient procedure, where a small pin is inserted into a hole...
