What are you most grateful for this time of the year?

I love the produce most of all. The tomatoes, peppers, okra, melons, blueberries, blackberries, peaches, figs, and MORE. I love the long days, and the lack of school buses on the commute. I love that all the college students are NOT in Chapel Hill, and I love the thunderstorms. There are...

Problems you run into when your tall....

I think overall there are more good things than bad things about long legs and arms (I am 5'8" and leggy). But it is that leverage thing, ain't it?? Those ab exercises where you raise the med ball up and one leg at the same time, like in ME and BC are HELL. Whereas like you've said, speed...

    I'm a knucklehead

Hi Nancy! I do the same knuckleheaded stuff pretty often. I think I'm addicted to weights. Anyway, my chiropractor swears that raw pineapple helps with muscle soreness. It works a bit for me, but then, any excuse to eat ripe pineapple is fine! You sure have pulled way ahead of me in the...

    Opinion from mothers of daughters.

Jumping in a little late here. My daughter got her belly-button pierced at 16. It looked GREAT, I have to admit. She got sick of it and took it out and let it grow in at 20. She said it was the most pain she's ever experienced, and she took really good care of it so it never got infected. She...

    How to do levitations?

Great idea! Because one of my legs won't bend all the way back due to a broken leg long ago (I can never sit on that heel.), I have not been able to do this move, but I think with the step to help me, I can do it. Thank you.

What is a good stationary bike?

I have the same bike as Honeybunch. (Hey, honeybunch, nice to see you again!) I like it for the same reasons. However, mine does have a little computerized display thing that tells me miles, calories burned, "rate", time, stuff like that. It takes 2 C cell batteries. I use it a couple of...

    August 05' Rotation: Boot Camp

Well, in week three Cathe says, "I hope your getting your balls out " I think maybe this should be done before anyone even starts this rotation. Holy Schmoe! :+

    daughter fitness

I dont workout WITH my daughter, not enough room or equipment, but she uses a lot of Cathe's strength tapes, plus HSC and Boot Camp. She loves them, and it gives us a chance to talk about fitness. She will be doing a triathlon soon too. Yay.

Not sure how to word this....

I do not like the whooping, and I remember when I first got the Intensity Series, it really bothered me. But now, I barely notice it. I've done them so many times! And also, I had to pay a lot more attention when I wasnt' as familiar with the workouts. Now, I am just heaving weight and jumping...

O/T Where to eat in Virginia Beach?

I lived in Va Beach for 2 years, and visit there once a year or so, and in my opinion, there aren't any really good restaurants in town. It's all pretty cheap, commercial, appealing to the All You Can Eat, IHOP, Denny's sort of crowd. The Jewish Mother, on Laskin and Pacific, is interesting...

Which are Cathe's sweatiest and most leg toning workouts?

Oh, I almost forgot. The ME/BC combo. And just BC.

Which are Cathe's sweatiest and most leg toning workouts?

I'd say LowMax too, but Circuit Max ain't bad for sweat + leg work. And the Terminators too, especially the Gauntlet.

    Swimming for weight loss/strength gains?

And for me, adding in a swimming workout once a week allows me to do a cardio when my knees are achy from Cathe, running, biking. Instead of having to rest, I can swim. It is very nice to have the exercise and I'm sure I must burn some calories, as I swim a mile in 40 minutes. That can't be the...

    How do I use Stretchmax?

I always just throw it on after another workout. Usually a long cardio like Low Max or MIC.

    Max Intensity Cardio opinion

I do the whole thing every time. Sometimes though, I do the step on 6" and then quickly add another riser for the "challenge". This is one long relentless grueling cardio, and substitutes nicely for running during the hot summer months when I don't run.

    Help me out fitness buffs

I'd suggest the Pyramids for weights and the backordered RS/Imax/Mic DVD for cardio.

    Does anyone have 18lb dumbbells?

I hold two dumbells in one hand. 12 and 5 makes 17. 10 and 8 makes 18. That's how I move from 15-20. Also, I hold one pound wrist weights with a dumbell. That way, I can get 11, 13, 16, 21. It really helps to have more choices.
