    Tanning?

NO!!!!!! I'm light skinned and do get jealous of the tan girls at the gym. But when I see them go into the tanning booths, I instantly lose respect. You're basically paying for cancer and wrinkles, and it's all for vanity. Most people regret it when they get older. Chances are you'll have sun...

    Question about BodyMax

Hi, Sorry, I don't have rotation suggestions. But I usually woll throw Bodymax in on a weekend when I have some extra energy since I do weights on weekdays. Or I'll skip the upper body if I just want a cardio/legs workout. The leg part is tough, and not very long, but I think it's more for...

    slow and heavy....how often?

Hi Lori, I like to do each S&H part 1x a week for a month, then switch to something else. I don't have a set schedule regarding which part I do on which day. If I have time and am focused, I'll do 2 bodyparts that day. And if I'm short on time or tired, I'll just do one part. It also depends on...

    Interval Max?

Fun! I also love this tape. It's about an hour, I think (w/warmup and cooldown). It's 10 intervals with active rest periods in between. The intervals are step and hi/lo. Some of the hi/lo- actually it's pretty much high impact- can make my knees or feet sore, but they can be modified. It's a...

How to get mom to workout??

Hi everyone, My mom is 53 and I would like her to start eating better and exercising purely for the health benefits. She's probably 20-30 lbs overweight. She started to work full-time (she's off Wednesdays and weekends) last summer and is still pretty tired when she gets home at 6 that she just...

    Can I step everyday??

try not to I was like you a few years ago- I found Cathe and was hooked. I remember doing it 6 days a week and I had to force myself to rest for a day (boy, I wish that was still the case!!) Anyway, after awhile, I became bored with step in general. I had done it so much that it wasn't as...

    VHS vs DVD

I just got the S&H DVD. It's very convenient since you can pick which bodypart you want to work, and even which exercise you want. I'd get the strength DVDs because you can go to a certain exercise easily, you can skip some you don't like or when you're short on time, and you can mix it all up...

    Rest days REALLY necessary?

Yes Hi, I'm not Cathe, but I definately think you need rest day(s), especially when doing strength training. In EVERY magazine article I've ever read, they always say how important it is to rest. Even the bodybuilders say this and their job is to look good and strong. Your muscles need to rest...

    Pooped

Your routine seems to be well-rounded and intense. Make sure those cardios aren't all intense. Enjoy an easy cardio day. Also, make sure you're stretching a lot or doing some yoga. I know what you mean about MIC. The hi/lo kills me, even though the actual hi part isn't too long. I feel like it...

    Please help me choose!!

Hi, I have Rhythmic Step and Step Works. I haven't done Step Works for awhile, but I think it's a typical Cathe step tape (a lot of moves you've seen), still very good though. But not my fav. I just got Rhythmic Step, have done it just once, but I love it! It's around 45 mins I think (3 step...

Spinner vs. Stationary Bike: What's the Difference

If spinner bikes are like the ones used in spinning classes, I can tell you that they're more pricey. But, for me anyway, I get a much tougher workout. The bike allows you to be more "active" in your workout, by changing positions (sitting, standing, climbing, jumps, etc) and the resistance...

    Gaining Mass?

I would say that, for me anyway, S&H is for building more mass and strength. Then, when you switch your rotation, you can do tapes for endurance (more reps, lighter weight), which can tone. This way, you're doing both types of training.

    Hamstrings

If you have Cathe's PS Legs, the last exercise really hits the hams (& butt). It's where you lie on your back with your feet up on the step. Then you push your hips up- know what I'm talking about? I forget the name of them.

    The Zone???

Atkins? Is the Zone like the Atkins diet?? A few of my coworkers started Atkins. I could not do it because they basically just eat protein. No office bagels or doughnuts (my weakness on Fridays- today- I just had 1 of each!), no bread, potatoes, etc. Some fruit and veggies are out too. And I...

    Anyone supplement cathe with gym??

I usually go to the gym for 2 cardio classes a week (kickboxing and spinning) and I use the weight machines (only if I'm not doing a Cathe strength rotation). I never use the cardio machines because I get bored. At home, I do 1 or 2 cardio tapes. I have to make sure I don't do them too much or...

    Yoga Suggestions

Hi, I started yoga by doing a Yoga Journal tape for beginners with Patricia Walden. It's good for starters to show you how to do the moves. Not too fast or difficult. Then I moved up to other tapes. There are different tapes for different times. You can do yoga after a workout to really...

How to use Circuit Max ?

Circuit Max I don't really have a set rotation, but I usually do Circuit Max (or a similar video) on the weekend since I usually do my weight work during the week. Since I'm "lazier" on weekends, I feel better adding this video in cause I get cardio and weights in. If I use challenging weights...

    Fitprime & "Weights First"

Tall Box Instead of a tall box, could you use a weight bench?? Also, is the weighted ball really necessary to have? Is it a main piece of equipment used in the video? (Just asking cause I don't have any other videos where a ball is used, and don't want to buy one for just this video). Thanks!

Survey: what move do you dread?

I hate (just cause I'm sick of them and don't like the move) over the tops (the long way across the step). Some tapes of Cathe's have you doing a lot of them, and I get so annoyed at them! I also hate power scissors! Never can do them without feeling "off".

    CIA videos

I agree! Yes, I think that's the tape. You're right about the bounciness. I really don't have the energy after work to think so much about the cheoreography and which foot I *should* be on. It would give me a headache just trying to catch on. She seems like a fun instructor though. The tape got...
