Who One Star Rates a Friggin' Birthday Thread?!?

I was wondering the same thing. This is why I stick to FB most of the time now. This place is just not that much fun anymore :( I was just having lunch and thought I'd pop in and see what was being discussed - and the ugliness continues.

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

Oh yeah - your chain should not be doing that at all. Something is off, which just happens with new bikes. You are doing right to take it in. It should never have slack like that. And on your cleats - you can spray them and your pedals with some WD40 to help with the getting in and out. And...

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

I ride an Orbea Diva - I love my bike too! I would love to do the Iron Girl - we don't have any in this area though. I was reading your blog. If you have it in your budget, a bike trainer would really serve you well. Also, you need to get a swim counter. This is the one I have...

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

Dang girl - that is a nice bike!!! Also, the brand of tri clothes you got does run smaller than most but yes, they are all very tight so you can slide through the water. You look great!! And you are doing an Iron Girl?? Is your tri at Lifetime Fitness? I did that one 2 weekends ago. A good...

Miss Lee / Michele, I sent you a PM

I am going to PM every single one of you to tell you that sometimes, I miss this place! And with all the hooppla surrounding this chili, I need to make it too! Then I am going to PM Beavs and beg her to be my FB friend!

    any avid cyclists doing STS?

Amy - when I did STS and had a ride or race on the weekend, I moved STS legs to Mondays then I thought well duh, just leave it there! It was not a problem to do it that way, and my legs were fresh and ready for the weekend. On another note, I wonder if there are enough triathletes here for...

Miss Lee / Michele, I sent you a PM

I will leave her a note on facebook so she can be sure and see this :) It occurred to me she would get an email notification about your message. Oh well - now she has multiple ways of knowing she is being requested!

    Nausea from Protein Shakes

Can you eat a lot of eggs and be ok? I cannot and can only imagine what egg protein would do to me. I drink whey and if you get isolate rather than concentrate, it does not have the lactose. Also, don't blend it in the blender - that can whip up air bubbles and cause you problems too. If you...

OK let's talk about "the girls"

Sounds like you are doing what you can do - building up the chest muscle wall behind the breast tissue. Just wear proper support for any jumping around too.

    OK, I'm embarrassed...

Oh yeah - always count your reps and keep the remote handy so if you need more time, just push pause and keep going. I do this throughout STS because I do not move as fast as Cathe, especially on legs, and I think it is because of my height but also because I just don't go that fast probably...

    OK, I'm embarrassed...

Meddy - you should feel no shame at all - the only shame would be if you quit STS! Here are my thoughts, in addition to the fabulous ones above... Get something - a 3 foot foam roller would be ideal but you could improvise easily. To start out with, if you have a weighted vest, put that on...

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

I agree - awesome blog! I remember looking at your photos some time ago when you posted about your weight loss. You do look amazing! On the shorts - if your tail bone is bothering you, I'm not sure that the padding in the shorts would help that but maybe. Tri padding is very thin too. Could...

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

Sandra - for my first tri, I wore Nike DryFit shorts and a DryFit top b/c I already had them, but you could just as easily wear some lycra/spandex - just avoid cotton - and be fine. For the distance, you won't need any padding for the bike.

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

Just be warned that going to the bathroom in a one piece suit is not easy! And if you get the 2 piece, you can use each piece for other things too - like the shorts could sub as bike shorts too.

Stepping out of my comfort zone--mini tri?

For an indoor tri, you would not need a wetsuit - just get tri shorts (they have the kind that go to your knees) and a waist length tri tank (these will dry faster). Sierratradingpost.com has a sale now. You could get something for about $50-75 at most. I can forward you the email - free...

    Insanity is insane!

If you already dreading, then it is going to be a long 2 months. Take breaks as needed. In the beginning, I paused the DVD to catch my breath and make sure I was ready to start up again. I considered myself to be in excellent shape also but in one month, have made tremendous gains. You...
