Chinning for the fun of it,... 12/27/06

Happy New Year everybody! New Year's Eve was a blast and the Polar Bear Plunge wasn't as bad as I expected. The weather was warm and rainy (63 degrees) and the water temperature was about 47 degrees. About 30 people aged 6-71 held hands and ran into the water. The rain was a good thing...

Chinning for the fun of it,... 12/27/06

Oh I'm a weenie all right. As I was taking a shower this morning, the cold faucet was leaking a bit of freezing cold water on my feet (something new to fix!) and I thought, "this is what the water's going to feel like on my entire body on New Year's Day." None of us is wearing a wet suit...

Chinning for the fun of it,... 12/27/06

Hey Catherine, Briee and Joanne! Joanne, my jaw drops at all the chins these women can do, too! Briee, you have quite a family! I agree with Catherine that it's a sad commentary on the current state of things that this got turned into such a big deal. On a different note, I'm glad you're...

Baron Baptiste power yoga - comments please

Hi Sandra! Great questions! a. I think Baron's routines are well-sequenced and well-balanced. IMO, though, he's often too chatty and comes up with inane sayings that sometimes even rhyme(!). While this annoys me, it doesn't keep me from doing a routine if it's otherwise good. b. I...

    Chinup Wonderland 12/17/06

I've barely been working out. I think I did Supersets once this week and BM2 step cardio once. I just did 90 min of yoga with a friend, though, so I feel a little better. I've had such a lack of focus lately, and have been flitting around from room to room, doing one task, then stopping in...

    Sooooooooooooosan!!!!

Hey again, Catherine! Lunch was great. We had champagne and rock fish caught in local waters. It's been a wonderful birthday so far, and DH just came home with dinner and a beautiful cake. Afterward I'm going to watch the A & E version of Pride & Prejudice, something I try to do every year...

    Sooooooooooooosan!!!!

Aw, Catherine! You are so sweet to remember! I'll mostly be running around doing holiday stuff, but will be going out to lunch with some friends and spending time with my children. DH bought me an iPod and a really nice Bose speaker. I can't wait to download all those free yoga podcasts...

    Chinup Wonderland 12/17/06

Good morning! WTG on the ab work, Catherine! I've been a bit slack in that department as well. I did the step cardio from BM2 yesterday and will probably do Supersets later on today. No yoga still. If I had something more intense or time-consuming on my plate, I probably wouldn't do it...

I knew not doing yoga would bring you back, Briee.}( Sounds like you and your family have been having some fun! Surfing, huh? Is there anything athletic you can't do? I hate getting back to lifting after time off, too, which is why I make myself do something like Supersets on days when I...

    Chinup Wonderland 12/17/06

Hey Catherine - love the thread title! Good for you for getting back with your chins. I would LOVE to be able to report 6 sets of 2. I've had a hard time fitting in my workouts, but at least I'm doing 2 total bodies and 2 cardios each week (although I only did one cardio this week). I guess...

    The Prodigal Chinner

Sandra, way to go on your chin-up progress! I have a feeling I won't be speaking to you before too long.:P HB is Honeybunch, a very fit 52-yr-old personal trainer and group fitness instructor who can do a zillion push-ups and pull-ups. She says that's pretty much all the upper body work she...

    The Prodigal Chinner

Wow, this is the most I've seen written about chins in this chin-up check-in in a long time! Where's HB to witness? As I've said, I've given up on my attempts because I kept injuring myself. The injuries weren't debilitating, just enough to be annoying and to keep me from working out. I...

    Chinnin' Chatterboxes

Hey Sandra! So glad you're joining our yoga, I mean, chin-up check-in. Some of us can do chin-ups and some of us can't. (I'm unfortunately in the latter group:-( .) I've actually given up my attempts because I kept injuring myself. But I'm pretty sure all of us can eat donuts (although give...

Briee, so sorry about your ankle. How frustrating.x( The dead blow-up Wal-Mart guys is hysterical, though. Whoever thought of that was a genius.:7 Melody, how are things at your house these days?
