How fast do you lose Cardio/Muscle?

I had a leg injury a while back and I found that I lost my cardio endurance very quickly. On the upside, however, it came back quicker than I thought it would. I was stressed that it would take as long as it did when I first started exercising regularly two years ago, but gladly it didn't. If...

Do you prefer downloads or physical DVDs?

I like both. Like others said the DVDs are nice because of premixes, but with the workout blender I can create the same ones and more out of my downloads. When I had a hamstring injury I was able to make my own mix of only boxing from the mma videos. If sts is too long I can pick out just a few...

    Thoughts on Chalene Extreme???

I loved CLX, I used it as a work up to STS. Using it I lost 50 pounds in around 8 months. It was definitely different from STS in that all the workouts are shorter and most all use compound exercises. I did find the cardio that came with the set dull, but no problem! I just did Turbo Jam or...

Funny Things That Happen When Working Out

I was doing STS abs with the stability ball for the first time a few months back. My balance wasn't so good...So as I was doing the side to side skiing ones and i pretty much bounced off the ball and almost wiped out my cat in the process.

    Just starting STS

my interpretation of the active recovery week was to not do any workout videos. I went for walks and hikes. Playing a sport is also good. I didn't go for any high calorie burns, just kept it easy. It was fairly annoying to do, but my body was way more ready when i started back up again than when...

More nutrition that fitness. But I love Tap & Track for keeping track of my calories in and calories out. Has lots of supermarket brands and restaurants. RunKeeper is fun for all my walks and hikes. Shelby

    The pain in my butt

Unfortunately, swimming is a no as well. I thought that would be perfect too because there is no impact. But you are doing any sort of a swimmer's stroke with kicks, it's your hamstrings that power that. Shelby

    The pain in my butt

I'm not a doctor by any means but I would say probably no on leg presses unless you can go light and not deep. I was told to concentrate more on floor work with leg weights so i can isolate the hamstring to a point of not using it. like some of the exercises during the leg bonuses in meso 1. if...

    The pain in my butt

You'll want to lay off a.nything that stretches the hamstrings. So no lunges, don't go deep into deadlifts, that sort of thing Quadricep work is still ok. Just be gentle and remember that it might not hurt when the muscles are warm, but you'll likely pay for it later when they cool off. I've...

    The pain in my butt

My original diagnosis was that my sciatic nerve was being compressed/trapped by my piriformis muscle. And while I think that diagnosis was true as well, as time and physical therapy wore on that pain decreased and this other pain a little lower down became more prominent. I guess I just got...

    Plyo Legs - 1st week

Hope you're both ok and i'm sure you both got a great bouncy workout together! My cat always wanders in during any stretching or yoga segments. She stretches out by me during all the moves and sometimes during relaxation pose i get a nice warm purr pile on my chest. Shelby

    The pain in my butt

I have this exact same thing and I have been in physical therapy for it. And what I hate to tell you is that the one thing we want to do to fix it, stretch, is probably what made it hurt in the first place. For me it's that I have a flexible hamstring as most women do and at some point I got a...

    Gardeners Beware

You can get the infection from churned up earth. From MayoClinic's website about one type of infection: Histoplasmosis is an infection transmitted by airborne spores that you breathe in when you work in or around soil that contains a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum. It generally...

    Gardeners Beware

This is almost too weird. I have to go back into my doctor for a chest xray because they had an incidental finding of a granuloma in my lung. I had to have an xray done to see what was going on with my hip (turns out my muscles in my....butt are pinching it) and I get a call back with this! My...

    Physical Therapist??

The biggest thing to know is that it is a ton of schooling. From what I have seen (i researched this a while ago for myself) it takes 4 years of pre-reqs followed by another 4 years of actual physical therapist school, which is difficult to get into. And on top of that you'll most likely have an...

Best mp3 player for Cathe downloads?

I love the downloads. If you are just doing them at home then I highly recommend spending the ~$30 to buy the adapter cord to plug your ipod into your TV. Shelby
