    LIS or XTRAIN?

The DOD LIS price is the same as the preorder price! It's a good investment even if you're not interested in some of the workouts. I use the disks as little as possible, which is easy to do for Afterburn, Cardio Supersets, and Athletic Training, which are my favorites. You don't need disks at...

    Favourite Cathe Premix

I like the Athletic Step Extreme premix on the Athletic Training disk in the Low Impact Series (not to be confused with the Athletic Step workout in the Shock Cardio series). The 7+ minute cardio segment is repeated, and getting through both of these segments without pausing is a challenge that...

Low Impact Challenge - Step, oy

It's not just you and your time away from Cathe workouts. Low Impact Challenge was difficult for me to learn and took me more than a dozen tries (I think the only Cathe step workout I've tried with more complex choreography is Step Moves). I doubt that any other workout will help you learn the...

Which DVD is right for me

I agree with Stacy and her recommendation for those three Low Impact Series DVDs (they are my favorites from that series too). The programs call for the slide and glide disks, which I have but don't like to use, so I modify the few exercises that involve disks and do them without disks...

    How cold is it?

I use a space heater to preheat my basement for about a half hour before exercising at this time of year. I can turn the heater off or down once I work up a sweat but it helps to get started exercising if the space isn't cold.

    When friends disappoint you

I've found that giving people the benefit of the doubt as you described, Bam, helps avoid disappointment, frustration, anger, etc. It's interesting how this thread has prompted so many responses.

    When friends disappoint you

I am so sorry to hear about your disappointment. I've often felt the same way (that friends don't treat me with the same kindness and consideration that I show them). You are wise to recognize that your sensitivity is heightened because of your illness. Perhaps some people need to be asked...

    Life Coaching

A friend of mine is a health coach in training through Duke University. She's not a life coach but she can help people achieve their goals for weight loss, fitness, etc. I can give you her information if you send me a Private Message.

Thank You, Cathe, for More Low Impact

Please let us know how you like All Out and other Xtrain workouts from a low-impact perspective. I enjoy the Low Impact Series immensely but did not obtain To the Max, Crossfire, or any Xtrain workouts because of concerns about impact. Super Cuts and All Out look promising for those of us who...

    Low Impact Challenge???

I forgot that I had this cheat sheet, which was posted here by another Cathlete some time ago (I'm sorry, I forget who so I am unable to give credit to the source): Step Express #1 = 42 mins (1-4 combos + "all combo") Step Express #2 = 37 mins (combos 1-4 only) Step Express #3 = 40 mins...

    Low Impact Challenge???

Going in slow motion as Natasha suggested should help you learn the most difficult steps. Try not to over think things. Many of the steps (e.g., walking lengthwise across the step during the fourth segment) are more simple than they appear. I don't want to minimize the difficulty of learning...

Note to self re: Christmas gifts

Another good hiding place is among the cleaning supplies. Certain members of my household never look there!

    CSS Bonus Step Segment

The 20-minute bonus segment on the Cardio Supersets disk is also on the Low Impact Challenge disk (both in the Low Impact Series). I think it's the best part of the Low Impact Series. It's straightforward (no complex or dancy choreography on the step) and a good add-on cardio segment for any...

Fall/Winter TV Shows: What is everyone watching?

I was incorrect when I wrote that there are 8 weekly installments of Call the Midwife. There are only 6. The last episode airs this Sunday, Nov 4.

Fall/Winter TV Shows: What is everyone watching?

Tracy, I'm glad you mentioned Call the Midwife. I've been enjoying it. I learned about it in a newspaper article that described it as sentimental, which I agree with but I like it anyway. For those of you who haven't seen it, Call the Midwife is an 8-week PBS series of 1-hr programs about a...

    Amanda, Wow!!

Great idea, Natasha! By the way, you start the best threads (I should have pointed this out long ago because I always hone in on your postings right away, knowing that you'll have good insight or curiosity about something). You make a huge contribution to this forum. Keep up the good work. :-)

I love, love, love Low Impact Series!

Which 3 workouts did you purchase, Hopefull? I too like the Low Impact Series (I'm no longer icing my knees now that I have this series). If you don't already have Cardio Supersets, Afterburn, and Athletic Training, those are my favorites (in that order). The 20-minute bonus segment (requires...

    Back Pain and gliding discs

Are you using the disks on carpet? I am and I've found that they place a strain on my lower back (I think the disks would slide more easily on a tile or hardwood floor). My lower back has been prone to problems for years. I'd characterize my abs and core as weak, so that could be part of it...
