Anti-Gay Sentiment Surprise. An "Ugh" rant.

I agree completely. Disliking homosexuality on a personal/scriptural level is one thing and absolutely within a person's rights. There's a larger legal issue here though. AFAIC, the state absolutely positively unequivocally does not have the right to tell two consenting adults that they can...

Anti-Gay Sentiment Surprise. An "Ugh" rant.

The continued anti-gay sentiment in this country is repugnant, IMO. It's tough, but why not try to lead by example here? Give the friendship more time. When anti-gay comments come up, gently refute them or state your own opinion. Have they ever met your brother? If they make a nasty...

    outgoing or homebody

Homebody. I love seeing my friends but DH and I are most content sitting together in front of the wood stove, or putzing around the house, me doing my thing, him doing his thing, knowing the other person is within calling distance. :)

How much are you like your parents?

I do that to DH! He'll do something just like his dad and I'll say "oookay, Danny." (His dad's name) Drives him nuts but I get a kick out of it, LOL. It's the little things that make marriage worthwhile. :D

Should I Spend my B-day Money on Insanity?

Or use it to get several other workouts I've been wanting to try? I think Insanity would be a great long-term investment in my fitness program but at the same time, I'm wondering if I might not need it right now, since I'm really lean already. Decisions, decisions...

How much are you like your parents?

I'm bookish, a history buff and good in a crisis (other's crises, anyway!) like my dad. I'm high-strung, affectionate and a foodie like my mom. I'm also cursed with her off-the-wall sense of humor. Back in the day we couldn't sit next to each other in church because something would set us off...

    Hey everyone

Yes, don't get hung-up on age! I'll be 40 this week, and am really looking forward to it. Every decade has been better than the last! :)

    dinnerware sets

I bought this very simple set when I hosted Thanksgiving last year. White may be too plain for you but I like it because I can then use more colorful linens. I also like the size of the plates and bowls, not too huge. This set is really solid, almost like old-time farm-y stuff. I also got...

    Should I be offended?

Good! Life is too short and I concur with the other ladies. :D However, if it continues to bug you, get 'em a pair of Bumpernutz as a wedding gift. :P

    Bumpernutz

Color me low-rent but I have to admit that the first time DH and I saw these on a truckwe giggled like Beevis and Butt-head. They're just so....wrong.

    Frustrated

We're having the same problem with a vacant rental. Never taken two months to find a good tenant!

So what do you think of Roman Pulanski?

Here's a great piece by feminist blogger Kate Harding at Salon.com http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/feature/2009/09/28/polanski_arrest/

    RIO WINS 2016 GAMES!

Carola I agree with you, though I think the viciousness has had fair share on both sides here. There were some awful, appalling things said about Bush during his time in office. This is short-term memory loss by both of the parties: Liberals are now crying foul against the attacks on Obama...

And we wonder why obesity in our kids?

I'm continually repulsed that our law-makers on both side of the aisle seem to think we can't make it through our lives without their continued (mis)management of every last thing we do. Be gone, irritants! We used to love to ride our bikes to school. What the he-l-l is going on? Where is...
