What size boxing gloves for MMA Boxing?

I bought a used Wavemaster freestanding bag off Craigslist this weekend. I need to buy boxing gloves to use with it for the bag workout on MMA Boxing. Do I get 12 oz. or 14 oz.? I definitely think 16 oz. will be too much. I'm looking at these on Amazon.com...

    Crockpot Orange Chicken

Thanks for the recipe, it was very good! I did all your modifications and it turned out very tasty. I agree, less liquids next time as the chicken also adds liquid when it cooks. Oh, and I think I'll try chicken tenders next time because the half chicken breasts I put in were a little tough...

    New piece of equipment

I bought this squat stand/bench set from Walmart (but don't use the preacher curl attachment). The bench is separate from the squat stand so I turn it sideways out of the way when not in use: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-XRS-20-Bench/5280822...

    Opinions from all users

I think you'd do well starting off slowly with total body workouts and cardio with a day of rest during the week. The first 3-4 weeks maybe do: Day1: Cardio (bike or incline walk on treadmill) Day 2: Push Pull Day 3: Cardio (bike or incline walk on treadmill) Day 4: Yoga (or Stretch...

    Cathe's weighted gloved - 1 lb. or 2 lb.?

Does anyone have both the 1 lb. and 2 lb. Cathe weighted gloves? The one lb. has an open palm and the 2 lb. has the closed palm. How comfortable is the closed palm and is it easy to change out the weighted packs in both? I want one to order one pair (and some regular weight gloves) with the...

    Tracey Staehle - Walking Stronger!

I tried out the cardio premix on Tracey Staehle's Walking Stronger and had a blast! I loved all the different variations she gave for the treadmill...walking backward (yikes, had to go slow on this one)...lunging....in and out and in and out with a squat....side stepping...and finally marching...

    Running Shoes

Argh, I feel for ya....I've tried every brand of running shoe out there and as soon as I find a brand/model I like....they discontinue it or try to "improve it" somehow. :( I'm not a heel striker but a mid-foot striker (which means I sound like a horse coming up behind you, lol). The shoes...

    Muscle & Fitness Hers

I agree, this article was really good. However, I went to the website and found the video of the workout that's already in the magazine. The article mentions an *additional* med ball upper body workout that would be posted on the website. Were you able to find that one? Thanks, Kathy

    I don't feel crazy...

Oh absolutely understood. I only do the best to MY ability and forget the rest. I'm just very happy to still be running after a serious knee injury and surgery (non-running related). So just crossing the finish line at this point (after completing the training) feels awesome! :) Kathy G

    Running Shoe Conundrum

I totally agree....stock up on the model that works for you because chances are the manufacturer will try to "improve" on it and change it, ugh. :( I'm so tired of finding a shoe that works then having it changed yet again. :( Kathy

    I don't feel crazy...

Just curious why this would irritate you? Most first time marthoners only have one goal....to finish. ;) Plus many people aren't in the "fast" category so do you think they should not run or attempt a marathon? :( Kathy

    I don't feel crazy...

I totally agree with what everyone else has said here....you need to build a good base in order to run the marathon without injury. Long runs are probably the most important and you only have about 8 weeks (with at least 2 weeks to taper before the race) so that's really not a long time. You...

    autism awareness Temple Grandin HBO

I watched this movie and was very moved and touched! Temple Grandin is an amazing woman and I thought that Claire Danes (sp?) did a great job of portraying her with dignity and intelligence. I don't have a child with autism but my youngest son has struggled with learning disabilities all...

Running a spring Marathon (first time!)

You got some great advice already so I'm just gonna tell you to enjoy it! What a great sense of accomplishment you'll feel when you cross the finish line. :) Enjoy! Kathy (who is training for several long distance races this year after a couple of months off...a marathon, 50k, and 24 hour...

    I can't help but ask...

Does it really matter? She looks fabulously fit.....and any way she chooses to present herself is fine with me (padding/implants/natural). I just want kick-butt workouts from her and she delivers. ;) Kathy G

    Entry Fees

Yep, races can be expensive (especially the longer distance ones). I also have to factor in one night in a hotel because alot of the races I do aren't close enough for me to get to on race morning. Plus many of them require a packet pickup the day before the race. But I love it and think...
