Are you Still Using Wen Post Scandal?

I have curly hair and tried using it years ago. I didn't use it very long... maybe a couple of months, but I found that it stripped my color. I quit using it before it had a chance to do any more damage. It didn't make me lose hair that I could tell, but again, I quit after a short time.

Well said! This is exactly right!

    My So Called Best Friend

I think you need to stop taking anything "facebook" related so personal. Facebook isn't real life. If she's your friend, she's your friend. Don't second guess the friendship because of anything on facebook. And in the other direction, don't assume that something posted on facebook defines...

I'm in my best shape ever, but...

I think what disturbs me about the Kelly Ripa bashing is that I don't think we have to proclaim anybody "too thin" or "too obsessed" or "too lean" in order to love ourselves. Everybody is different. Just because she is lean doesn't make her unhealthy. I think she looks pretty darn healthy...

I'm in my best shape ever, but...

I think Kelly Rippa looks great! I also think women who are heavier look great. As others have pointed out, we don't have to look like someone else to consider ourselves lean and fit. You are still very young (compared to me anyway), and I don't see the point of comparing yourself now to...

Suggestions for a Comeback - I need your opinion

This! It really doesn't matter what you do, just that you do something. I would not aim for doing something I don't already have and would have to purchase to get started. Whatever was in your collection of workouts from 5-6 years ago will work now too. Almost everything is modifiable...

Negative attitude/comments regarding health & fitness

That's pretty funny! It reminds me a of a guy we have in our boot camp class. He's a big ol' strong guy... probably weighs 250 lbs, very strong. Whenever we have kettlebells as one of our stations, he picks up the 5 lber and swings it. It's hilarious looking. I've seen this guy swing 90 lbs...

    Suspension trainer

Another suspension training fan here! I have TRX also. I was introduced to it at a local gym where I do boot camp classes. They have the big metal suspension apparatus. At home I have mine fixed to a hook in the ceiling like Justine does. It is fantastic for the core, shoulders and...

    Missing my youth

Thank you everyone for your kind words of support and sympathy. <3 Cher, I did not know you had lost your husband too. I am so very sorry. It's a special club you and I belong in now, one we both probably never expected to be in so young. The word "widow" stops me cold every single time I...

    Missing my youth

I love all of the inspiration here! To those of you with health or injury restrictions, my heart goes out to you. I've been there in the past (broken wrist), so I know it's not fun. As for aging.... I am finding that the older I get, the more time and energy I have to put into my working out...

How much cardio do older women need?

Search "racerback workout tanks" on Amazon. There are lots of really cute ones with different sayings!

    Protein Bars

This is not a protein bar, but I've found a pretty decent Protein recovery drink. It was recommended to me by a personal trainer. It's called "Coco Protein" (made by MusclePharm) and it's coconut water and protein. For those who don't like the taste of coconut water straight (that would be...

    Protein Bars

The Pure Protein Bars are what I eat also. I have to qualify and say that I don't eat a lot of protein bars, but if I'm out and about and don't have time to eat before a bootcamp class or workout at the gym, I'll eat one of these. My faves are: Chocolate Peanut Caramel -- 20 g protein, 2 g...

How much cardio do older women need?

I am 59. I love my weights. I think it's SO important as we age for so many reasons.... increasing bone density, strength, and muscle building are my main reasons to weight train. That said, I also do cardio. I don't think there is a "one answer fits all". I don't need to lose weight, in...

Body Blade - Who has one?

We use these in the classes in my gym. We use it with straighter arms, and that's much tougher than bending your elbows like he's doing in his video. You really feel this in your core, no doubt, but that's with straighter arms. I'm not even sure how it feels with the bent elbows. Honestly...

    Slam Ball

True slam balls don't bounce enough to hit you in the head. They are too heavy and dense. I use a 30 lb slam ball every day. Love it! I would recommend slamming on a mat because the hard floor will eventually bust open your ball. The bootcamp classes I do have slam ball in them and we...

Deep Squats for the Long Legged

I agree that we're all different, so what might injure one may not injure another. Watching Molly in her video at the 7:20 mark, I think her knees are too far over her toes.... but that's just me. I do not allow my knees to go further forward than 90 degrees, ever. I'm certainly no expert...

Deep Squats for the Long Legged

I have longer legs and a short torso. I can squat below 90 degrees, but here are a few things I've learned along the way.... First of all, it is definitely imperative that your knees not protrude over your toes at all. Your knees should be at 90 degrees. I can't tell you the number of people...

    an Eyebrow Situation

I agree that thinner/lighter brows age us. I've noticed a thinning of my brows (I'm 59), but so far they are still dark. I just fill them in with a bit of brow powder with a brow brush when I put on my eye makeup. It's amazing how much more youthful someone with nicely formed and visible...
