    Sister Wives?

These women spend way too much time extolling the advantages of plural marriage, if you ask me. They seem to be trying to convince themselves, not us. And when they talk about how great it is to have their child-rearing burden shared, I can't help but think some of the wives wish the others...

    Thanksgiving Dinner Etiquette

Your question shines a light on an unpleasant fact: Hosting Thanksgiving is HUGE work that usually falls to a single person, who is almost always an already overworked woman. She is expected to plan the dinner, buy the groceries, clean the entire house, dress the table and decor, cook most (if...

    In shape before beginning STS?

I'm in the same boat, not because of a new baby but because of old habits. (Funny how I think I've got them licked and they come right back. OK, not funny at all.) It's VERY tempting to wait until I've lost some pounds and regained muscle to start STS, but I think that's mostly because I'll have...

    How do you avoid debates?

Thanks, everybody. You solved it for me. I've decided that if my blood pressure starts rising and there are no dogs or kiddies around, my mind will go to a happy place. Either 1) Sparrow13's house, where discussion is civil and nobody has to prepare conversation exits, or 2) that bad-ass...

    How do you avoid debates?

I'm seriously dreading Thanksgiving because my relatives, whom I dearly love, and I fall on different ends of the political spectrum. Sometimes their comments about my candidate or my stands on issues are snarky. Sometimes they're just opinions presented as truths. But in both cases, they...

    Going to commit

Hi, Tammy. For what it's worth, here's my advice: 1) Don't fret over which Cathe DVDs to buy, as long as you get a mix of strength and cardio. Though you'll like some workouts more than others, they'll all lead you to the promise land. (Cathe never relaxes her standards.) Chances are you'll...

Slow and Heavy opinions wanted, good or bad

I never find Slow & Heavy boring. I love it. Unlike faster-paced strength workouts, during the sets I fully concentrate on good form and don't concern myself about what weights I'll be needing for the next set. Cathe rests the muscles a full minute between sets, giving me time to check my notes...

    Full body weight workout

Maximum Intensity Strength is an oldie, but in my opinion Cathe's best full-body workout. It will challenge you and work you thoroughly, but it won't intimidate you. The sets are 8-16 reps, and Cathe uses a 35-pound barbell and 8-20-pound dumbells, so there's room to grow with it.

    Favorite StretchMax segment

Piling it on for the band segment. OMG, after a long run it feels like heaven.

    Push/Pull

My reaction was the same as yours, Mary. I tried using heavier weights to get a better workout, but I just never warmed up to Push-Pull. When I switched from VHS to DVDs, it was the only Cathe workout I didn't replace.

Which of these Cathe dvds do you prefer?

This is easy. Rhythmic Step/Imax/MIC is my all-time most-used DVD.

    Just gotta say

I've been working out with you for a decade now, and last night, after I finished Slow & Heavy, my daughter asked, "How was Cathe tonight?" I told her, "It was really hard. They all are. But Cathe always gets me through 'em." She said, "Oh, I bet Cathe would love to hear that!" And I thought...

    Hooray, we're back!!!

OK, OK. I give. After years of just visiting, I'm finally defecting from Lurkville into the Cathe nation. The new forums are great. Thanks, Cathe.
