Think I've Learned a Lesson.

Tuesday I did Ice Metabolic Total Body and while the weights are not heavy, I felt a twinge in the crook of my left elbow and I kept going. Then I felt popping on the inside and stopped my workout. Throughout the evening, the inside crook of my elbow tender and I did not have full extension or the ability flex it normally. I googled my symptoms and thought I've either strained or torn a ligament. Today I did light stretching and the soreness has lessened as well as notice a little more flexibility. I will give it a few more days and decide whether to see a doctor. I am encouraged as it feels much better today. Lesson learned, if I feel a twinge or anything odd, STOP!

I've read that icing it could help within the first 24 - 48 hours too. Just put a cold pack on for 15 minutes at a time. Hope your elbow will be good as new! Your lesson is a good reminder for us all!

Yes, I did ice that first evening. I had no noticible swelling but thought it couldn't hurt. Thanks for the well wishes.

Update, I noticed I cannot flex my bicep in my injured arm so I made appointment with Sports/Orthopedic specialist on Monday. I tried my GP first but could not even get an appointment until 4/14 and my other option would be urgent care. I have insurance but $2500. Deductible. After googling and talking to my daughter I decided it is important to get it checked because if surgery is needed it needs to be done relatively quickly.

Thank you, I will know more tomorrow but I think surgery is in my future. The crazy thing is that I Bicep curl between 15-25 lbs consistently and a wrong move with a measly 8 lbs took me out. This is my first injury from working out in ten years.

Distal bicep tendon tear but not completely severed. No surgery recommended. He told me to not restrict movement but not to lift for 8 weeks then start with resistance bands gradually. I will concentrate on lower body and cardio. I'm not really feeling pain just a burning sensation occasionally which is from the nerves reaction to blood. I have decided my lifting will be slower and more controlled and I will still do metabolic w/o but with no weights. I am thankful I've been given ok to train. Thanks fellow Cathletes!
