Workouts with the best ab work

Good morning everyone,

I was wondering which of Cathe DVDs have the best add-on ab workouts (this is excluding her ab/core focused DVDs)

I always gravitate to the Butts and Guts ab work probably because I am most familiar with it. I like the main ab work with the hand weight and ankle weights, especially the oblique twists with one leg eleveated. I also like the abs on the ball for the lower back work along with the obliques on the ball.

I am curious what others like and am hoping to break my habit of going back to B&G all the time.

Also, which ones don't wow you? Why?

Thanks and enjoy your Sunday!

Hi Susan,

IMO, the best type of ab work, is crunch less, non-traditional. I find plank and plank related exercises to be extremely effective. Yoga ab work is excellent because it involves all plank poses. JeanneMarie suggestion of 6 week, 6 Pack is a good one because of all the non-traditional ab work. Jillian loves her mountain climber's and plank jacks! And I believe Fit44 said on a previous thread, great abs are made in the kitchen! Words to live by.

Enablers!!!! OMG!

Not to tempt you further (okay, maybe I WILL tempt you further! ;)), but 6 week/6 pack abs is probably my favorite ab workout.

Like Natasha said, it's non traditional. Jillian really works the core with all of her variations of plank work, plus a lot of standing ab work. It's pretty tough. There are 2 levels, but I don't find Level One any easier than Level Two. Both are done with modifications up and down... you can make it easier by modifying the moves and using no weights, or make it harder by adding weight and not modifying the moves.

I really like the ab work in Low Impact Circuit and also BM2. They're short and I feel, really enjoyable. There's some traditional ab work involved, but I don't think it's overkill.

Jillian's 6 Week 6-pack sounds interesting! I don't do anything but Cathe ab work these days, but this really has piqued my interest .... hmmmmm. :p;) Just might have to hop on the bandwagon and buy it/try it.

I really like the core work in Bootcamp and Cardio & Weights. I don't like doing all the plank stuff, but it is sooooo effective.

Oh there's so much to choose from, but I really like the medicine ball abs in STS abs. And then there's CCC...who doesn't love a butterfly sit up?

do you have High Reps? I find the abs section very challenging for how short it is. also love The abs in Turbo Barre & any of the Ab Circuits.
