We're In This Together (01/20-27)

Just finished TB minus the ab section. Those leg lifts are ridiculous!! But I love them. Hopefully tomorrow I will get a nice bout of DOMS (not like Colleen's though).

I am proud that I was able to do the upper body work with 5 lbs like Cathe and do the same amount of reps. Leg work needs improvement. Cathe is superhuman I tell ya!!!

Have a good night all :)

JT
You did BM2 after all that snow shoveling!!! You are a champ !!!

Thanks, Natty. Shoveling in the AM and workout in the PM. Then some music therapy on YouTube.

Good morning ladies :)

Woke up to feel slight DOMS in both UB/LB (yay), but also to my daughter having a fever :(. I gave her advil and poor thing threw it up all over the couch :(. She is really good when she's sick though; hardly complains and still gets up and plays. I am assuming she takes after me. Her dad is a total wuss when he gets sick. One little cold and oh no, call the ambulance. Men are friggin' wimps.

Hope you guys have a wonderful Sunday :)

Good job on getting through that workout and being able to use the same weight as Cathe. I always feel sooooo accomplished when I'm able to lift the same weight as Cathe. On some things I can and others I can't. Yesterday when I did Cardio & Weights, for the first time, I was able to match Cathe pound for pound in that workouts. I felt like the Queen of fitness after that, ready to take on the world.

Hope she feels better soon. It's always so sad to see your babies sick.

Hello everybody!

Sorry for not posting before, but we had miserable days. My son is still teething and just right now he has 2 teeth coming out, as a result, he doesn't eat at all and what's worst, he has begun to wake up many times at night...AGAIN!!!!
I had just recovered by Flu Max (DH and I got flu and started to feel better towards the end of the week) and this teeth thing has really put me to the test :(
Poor poor thing, he never complains about anything, but teeth are the only thing that make him cry with pain, he wants to be cuddled all the time and just want to stay in my arms all day long! My shoulders are screaming...I think I need to up my weights to keep up the pace with him!:D

I read about your routines with great interest, you're all very inspiring to me!Especially this week, I felt so lazy because of the flu that just managed to do a bit of yoga relax on Wednesday and Thursday, as my muscles were cramping everywhere. Friday was a turbobarre day (I thought it was wise to start with something "light" and yesterday I had very good DOMS in my LB).Yesterday morning I would have liked to do some cardio, but my son didn't let me to, so we enjoyed a "power stroll" outside, as it was a lovely crispy, not too cold wintry day.
Today, if my little one naps, it will be a Low impact circuit day, don't know if it will be just the cardio timesaver or not but I need to do something to ease my doms!

Jenn: congrats on your shovelling even twice a day, you're my hero! we haven't had snow yet this year but next time I feel tired while shovelling I'll think of you!Btw, I've seen your pics. they are awesome!!!!

Colleen: Great recipe! I cook something similar in winter and enjoy it a lot because it's easy to do, nutritious and really yummy!!!I'll give your version a try soon

Nikki: you rock girl! working out twice a day...That is my secret dream!Hope to get there one of this days...Maybe when my son gets older

Sarah: you do Zumba? wow! I have 2 left feet...could never do something dancy like that!

Natty: so sorry to hear about your daughter ill. Poor poor thing!Hope she'll be better soon!
I'm sure you're going to love Athletic Step, it's one of my faourite: easy to learn, fun to do and pretty challenging, everything for less than one hour!

Wish a wonderful Sunday to all of you and your families!
Ellie

Jen- I live South of Seattle, about 50 miles north of Portland, Oregon. I'm in a town at the base of Mt. St. Helens caled Castle Rock. Is your snow the light kind usually, that doesn't compact?

Nat- I'm sorry your daughter is sick. It always put such a cramp in the day. However, I do love it because thats when my kids really need me and want me. So its my time to be 100% mommy (as oppossed to being mom) and baby them a little. Then I go into the office and do the treadmill instead of a dvd :)

Ellie-I'm sorry he's been waking in the middle of the night. It's really hard when your not getting enough rest to push yourself to exercise and on top of that your recovering fron having the flu. I know when I don't get enough sleep my eating habits go into the toilet and I binge. I do Zumba also and I love it but it's all about getting the right instructor as some of them suck. If you can do Cathe, you could do Zumba trust me. I did Low Impact Challenge yesterday and by the time I made it to the 4th section my brain was on overload and I sat down of the couch and watched the rest of it.
There's something about my brain stops workin when I'm physically tired.

Nikki-Thanks for all you wrote about your boys on the intro page. I just feel overwhelmed with moodiness now, I keep saying it's gonna be far worse when they get their periods. We live in a small house 1500 we have to learn to get along. It's almost a benefit that we live in a small house because there is no place to hide really. So we will have to get along.

Colleen- I have my soup simmering. Smells delicious.

I'm so sorry Ellie and Natty on the sickness going through your households! We had a bout of stomach flu go through our house in December and it really messes with your routine! It's so hard when you have to back off the things you want to do and just nurse illness instead. :( It's even harder when your sick yourself...I hear ya on how wimpy men can be Natty! When my husband is sick the world must stop, but when I'm sick it's another story!

Jen-my hats off to you on shoveling! That's one thing I can count on my husband to do for me! :) I think if I had to do it myself I'd probably opt to live in an apartment or condo instead! I'm that wimpy when it comes to the cold. It's amazing I manage to live in Wisconsin!

I'm still feeling a bit beat up from my brutal Friday workout. I feel better, but I think I need more of an active recovery day. I was going to do Disc 10 of STS (chest, shoulders, biceps) but I don't think I'm quite ready for weights. I'm going to push that to tomorrow and do a little Ellen Barrett instead. Have you guys ever heard of her? She's so wonderful and perfect when you are feeling over trained. I think I'm going to do her Barefoot Cardio and maybe walk on the treadmill a bit.

You guys are making me want to get Athletic Step...I've been looking at that one but I normally can't do Cathe's step aerobics at all. I'm choreography challenged! Every time I peek at that one on collage video I remember my frustration with Body Max 2 and Intensity (the step portion) and then I decide not to get it. It's on my wish list still though...:)

Have a great Sunday girls!

Sarah- I just read yours after I posted. Let me know how you like the soup! I couldn't believe I got my husband to love it since he normally turns his nose up at anything different and doesn't care for sweet potatoes!:D

I haven't heard of Ellen Barrett, but I'm gonna check her out. Sounds good.

I think you should try some of Cathe's step workouts that have less challenging choreography like Athletic Step, Imax 2, or Cardio & Weights. The choreography in Intensity and Body Max 2 is more challenging, especially if you're not really into step choreography.

Ellie

I am so sorry to hear of you son's teething. It sucks when the little ones start waking up in the night. Sleep deprivation is hard for both child and parent(s). I am still at that stage...........unfortunately. My daughter wakes up several times during the week. IT DRIVES ME BONKERS!!! But no one said parenthood was easy. Sorry to hear about the flu too :( Just recover and take care of yourself. You will be back at it in no time ;) Lovely winter walks are nice when it's not freezing out.

Colleen

Ok, let me tell you, a mere 8 months ago, I literally SUCKED at step. When I say sucked, I mean really, truly, horribly, STANK AT IT. My first step video ever was Intensity. Oh man, I stood there watching the thing confused and un-sweaty. I burned 20 cal just staring at my screen. Determined, I purchased Basic Step/Body Fusion. That got me through Intensity. Now I am ADDICTED to step! Honestly, I don't consider myself to be very good, but at least now I can do it and not stare blankly at the screen or trip over my feet. YOU CAN DO IT, trust me. I am probably the step novice from this bunch.

Nikki

Step Moves looks fun but I am a bit intimidated by it. Complex choreo scares me sometimes. Give me a Hiit and I am right in there, but with step, I proceed with caution. I gotta try Cardio & Weights. Don't have it, but downloading is an option ;)

Thanks everyone for all your kinds words :). My little one is feeling better with her fever controlled. We'll see how she is in the next few days, if I have to take her to the doctor. No other symptoms besides fever right now.

Just checkin' to say Hello and gettng ready to do Cardio Fusion, I've done it only once since I purchased it. 4DS follows with steppnig (power hour) then double with kickbox/bootcamp premixes. I dont weight training on this series for some reason.
**NO SNOW for awhile. City plowed me in last night and had to dig out this morning.
Have a Great Day, Everyone.

Jen

I hate those plows!!! Happened to us so many times when we lived in our house last year. Stay strong, only 2 more months to go.......

I don't know if I will be working out today. I am tired, exhausted and my mind is not really up for it. Although I was previewing Athletic Step and wanted to try it............we'll see.

Good night all

Athletic step is a good workout, no complaints. I think the hardest workouts in Shock Cardio are Cardio Core Circuit, Circuit Blast, and HiIT.
Take the night off if you're not into it cause it will feel more like work than fun.

I agree that those are the hardest from that series. MMA Fusion was hard too. That one caught me off guard because I thought it was going be more intermediate like MMA Kickbox and MMA Boxing. I was sooo wrong about that.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. Today's a rest day for me. I did Cardio & Weights and Pyramid Lower Body yesterday. Tomorrow I plan to do Hi Reps.

Trying to stay within my calorie limit today, but looks like I might go over a little. I track them on myfitnesspal.com. I use their phone app. It really makes tracking your calories easy. You earn extra calories when you exercise so I always have a hard staying within limit on my rest day. Anyone else using that app?

Good morning ladies,

I write this like a zombie today, exhausted with very little sleep, up every 2hrs last night making sure Izabella was ok. She was coughing often, but her fever did not return. I'll cross my fingers, hopefully it's just a cough and nothing more. Her coughs have always turned into infections and then she is put on antibiotics and inhalers :(

Yesterday evening I decided to try Athletic Step, even though I really was not in the mood to workout. Holy fun! I really liked it. The music was cool too. Being not-so-great (ok, kind bad) at step, I always wonder how foolish I look during it . You are right Jen, CCC and Hiit is definitely harder. Nikki, I previewed MMA Fusion, I think I'm in for a treat  Also, I have never been on myfitnesspal Nikki. I will check it out.

I was planning on Hiit 40/20 tonight, but that was before I practically went on no sleep. We'll see......

Hope you guy had a good evening. What are your plans for today?

Collen & Sarah is today an STS day or LIS?
Ellie I hope your son is feeling better (and you too)
Jen How was Cardio Fusion? I have yet to try that one.

Today I'm going to tackle STS disc 10 (chest, biceps and shoulders). I previewed the workout sheet and there are ALOT of pushups! Ugh. I won't lie, I may skip a few of those:eek:. I just don't feel the need to work my chest quite as much as Meso 1 requires. I love working my back, shoulders and triceps and I don't mind working the biceps but the chest is my least favorite body part to work!

I gotta say Ellen Barrett was just the ticket yesterday! I feel so great and gently worked yet stretched when I do one of her workouts. They aren't much for calorie burn, but you sure feel good when your done.:)

I am really tempted to get Athletic Step. I'm on a self imposed budget until after tax time (we have to pay in this year), so I probably won't be buying any new workouts until this spring but this one does sound like fun. Natty- was there a lot of tricky turns and fast changes? My least favorite thing during her step workouts is when she turns her back to the camera. I'm like, how can I see what you're doing if I have my back to the tv??

Have a great day girls! Colleen

Hello Friends.
Cardio Fusion is first, warm up and combos from Body Max 2 then bonus combo from LIC then circuits from Body Max 2 of stepping then the blasts with no weights next was Drill Max blasts using stability ball, etc. This workout has premixes too. I liked it.
With MMA-Fusion, I thought it wasn't too bad compared to Kick Max. But, I havent done it in awhile too so I might be in for a surprise.
Athletic step is good but I always preview. I will preview 4DS Power Hour tonight or try to wing it.
No phone apps for me so I miss all those exciting things.
Love Cardio & Weights. I do the pyramids together not with another workout so kudos to you, Nikki!!

Nikki
I checked out the myfitnesspal website. It's FREE !! Maybe I will create an account. IDK, it's hard for me to track my food & exercise. I get kinda lazy  But it looks like a wonderful tool for making sure you stay within your caloric budget.
Colleen
Yes, for me Athletic Step was tricky (keep in mind I am not a pro like the other girls). But it was so fun! More athletic-style than dancy (Step Moves is crazy tricky. Don't even attempt that one). Do you download? 99% of my Cathe's are downloads. There is no pre-mix in Athletic Step, so you are not missing out if you download instead of getting the DVD. AND it's CHEAPER and there is 20% off sale going on!!! Very budget friendly.

Tonight I may do an UB workout from Supreme-90 Day. Despite other negative reviews, I am liking these workouts! Tabata Inferno was AWESOME! Cardio Challenge was good too. What I like about this program is that it only requires dumbbell's and a stability ball and in less than 45min you get a great overall workout. I don't have so much equipment (weight-wise) or else Cathe's STS would have been my go-to.
