I lost two days

I'm just getting over the flu or something like it. Can't be the flu I had a flu shot right? I slept for two days. I wonder which Cathe DVD would be good to start with when I get back on my feet. I have almost all of them. Any suggestions? I have been up today. I feel much better. I know I need to take it easy. I just can't think of an easy Cathe workout.
Is it just me or do you find that the more regularly you exercise the less you get sic?

I hope you are feeling better! I think that the easiest Cathe workouts are either "Basic Step" or the cardio only premix from CW (no risers.) How about some yoga or another instructor? I get some easier workouts on netflix. The thing with Cathe is that most of the workouts are pretty intense.

Don't push yourself too soon, that could back fire.

I am required to get a flu shot yearly (I work in a hospital). Every single year I would get my shot on a Friday morning when I wasn't scheduled to work the weekend because by Friday night I would be sick. By timing it correctly, I could be well by Monday morning to return to work. This went on for about 10-12 years. No way it could be coincidence! I tried asking for a half-dose, thinking that these attenuated virus shots were based on a dose for a 170 lb man. (like most everything in the medical world is....) and I am a very small female. I was told year after year that it wasn't an option.

A couple of years ago I decided to take my chances and I stopped getting the shots. I haven't had the flu since.

When I am recovering from being ill, being exceedingly tired or not haven eaten or slept well for a few days, or have missed several workouts, I like to do one of my old FIRM workouts. They are good, but much easier than Cathe, and help me transition back into my "groove".

About 10 years ago, my mom and I got our first flu shot. We both got the flu right after that for a couple days. I was convinced that all the flu shot does is schedule the flu. Everyone said that's crazy. I have never had one since. Thanks for sharing your story, now I don't feel like it is quite so crazy after all.;)

Are you guys sure you had the flu? Flu is not a 2-day illness - it's generally 14+ days. There are actually a couple of people where I work who had the flu over Christmas and they still have a cough over 2 months later.

Mine was more like a few days of flu symptons, not near as bad as the flu. But, my mom and I both felt this way right after the shot. So I think it was some type of reaction to the shot but not necessarily the actual flu, if that makes any sense at all.

The older versions of the flu shot were live viruses would would give you a shorter much less intense version of the flu but yes, you would (or could) get sick from it.

In recent years they've changed that. The vaccine is no longer a live virus so I believe it's impossible to get sick from it. If you get sick shortly after you are given the shot then, from what I recall being told, it's because you were already carrying the virus (in a dormant state) prior to the shot and the shot can not defend against this apparently. I hope this makes sense. This is what I was told. Take it or leave it. It's up to you. :)

Very interesting. Thank you for explaining that! Maybe I will give the flu shot another shot.:p

Yeah if you were are worried about getting the flu then get the shot. It won't make ya sick. I never get it cause I never get the flu. I can't remember having it ever in my adult life! *knock on wood* Now the minute I get it (if I ever do) you know I'll be running to get a shot the very next season! :p
