What are your best fitness purchases of 2008?

LauraMax

Wanted to post this before STS & it's related equipment came out, for the obvious reasons (although I'm guessing the weighted vest might make an appearance here more than once ;)). Also, I'm giving categories just to make it a bit more interesting.

So, here are mine:

Apparel: my Oh My Bod leopard print top. Soooooo cuuuuuuuuuute! Wish I could wear it to the gym every day!

DVDs: Steve Cotter's Extreme KB without a doubt. You get so much for your $$--I've had it a month & I STILL have no idea how many workouts are actually on it. Did the core DVD for the 2nd time this w/e--it's a killer!

Equipment: have to be a tie betw. my heavy bag & my kettlebells. I'm loving them both (however I am having trouble fitting them in w/a heavy lifting routine since they're both so intense).

Misc: my pass to Cathe's RT over the summer. :)

P.S. I'm thinking we'll all be doing our part for the American economy by the end of the day.......:D

LauraMax: Could you share a little more about this DVD? Is there music?

As for your question, that's easy: kettlebells. I was really skeptical at first, but I loooooove them.

Lisa

This one is easy for me.:)
Cardio Coach!! Every single volume!!! Totally worth the money 10x's over. I can't believe I passed over these for years.

Quit giving 1/3 of an answer you guys! I want responses in all categories! :p

Lisa, here's the Amazon link:

http://www.amazon.com/Kettlebell-St..._bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1223299396&sr=8-3

It's a 4 DVD set w/a couple of workouts on each DVD. There is no music but he keeps up a good chatter so it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the Goddess (OMG I so hate that w/o--the utter silence other than their breathing is incredibly distracting & irritating), & I just stick something in my DVD player at moderate volume. Anyway, compared to most KB DVDs it's a helluva a value.

P90x Plus!!

Ditto on P90X+
and....... cathes Weighted Vest.....Tonys 10 Minute Trainers for that little something extra.....My Pull Up Bar (Iron Gym)......Tracey Staehle's CircuitZone LEGS! ..... Gosh...its been kinda a slow year for me:( But 2009 looks VERY PROMISING!

This was a great year. acquired more than ever before and I was rarely disappointed.

My picks:

Gadgets: Jaybird Gear bluetooth wireless headhones. I love, love, love exercising without wires with my Cardio Coach and itrain workouts on the ipod. The headphones are light weight and stay put (most of the time).

Workouts:
a. Cardio Coach Vol 8 (though I did not pay for it)
b. Tracey Staehle - Strike Zone and Walking Strong
c. Amy Bento - Rumble
d. Kelly Coffey Meyer - 30 Minutes to Fitness and Cardio Kick Step Boxing 2
e. Yoga - Erich Schiffman Backyard Backbends (not new, but was new to me), Vinyasa Flow Yoga by Deb Dobbin, Yin Yoga by Paul Grilley (again not a 2008 release) and Power to the Peaceful by Sharon Ganan and David Life - all were gifts from online friends.

Apparel: I dont like anything I bought this year enough to nominate it to my hall of fame. I am looking for a nice pair of running shoes. I want asics or ryka and I am waiting for my next overseas trip next week to buy because they are not available in India.

Oh!! Ok....I didn't fully read that part:eek:

I haven't purchased any workout apparel. I workout in old t-shirts/cut off sweat shorts. It's not a pretty sight:eek:

DVD's- AOS Kettlebell clinic, Kettlebell way, Jari Love Ripped series

Equipment- Cathe vest:p, kbells in vinyl coated pretty colors:D

Misc.- can I say STS pre-sale?:)

Definatley my July RT trip as well. What an amazing time that was!!

I increased my Cathe library so much!!

Appparel, hhhmmm bought alot for the RT. Best of it would be my RYKAS. I switched from Nike, don't think I'll ever go back.

Equipment.....bought alot of that too!! I would have to say my Bowflex adjustable weights. They are pretty cool!

My oh so cool Fitness notebook I put together. :D:D:D

Equipment: Cathe's weighted vest. I'm obsessed with that thing--I just can't get over how comfy it is! I actually forget I'm wearing it. (And the 10 lbs is perfect for me. I'm not interested in anything heavier).

Workouts: iTreads baby! They got me back into running and *gasp* actually enjoying it!! I love me some Grace!

Apparel: my dorky Cathe T's from the roadtrip.:p

Vee, I recently got a pair of Asics Gel Kinetics--they're awesome! So comfy, & also really purdy.

Really? You like them? I am desperate for a good pair of sneakers. Ever since Ryka discontinued my Enlight II's I've been in the depths of despair. Seriously, though. My knees ACHE without them. :( Are the Asics pricey?

ETA: HOLY SCHNIKES!!! Asics are $160?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

DVDS: Cathe of course! I only found her this year. Second runner up tie between Ilaria Montagnani powerstrike kickbox and forza sword workout and Kimberly Spreen Absolute Kickbox .

Apparel: Nothing great.

Equipment: All of it, just switched to a home gym this year, so the dumbbells and barbells are by far the best purchases.

Out of the house services - Club KO kickbox membership.

Future hopefulls - Finally ordered a kettlebell and dvd, should be here soon.

Allie, I got mine on ebay for $80. :)

Workout wear : nothing (no new purchases in 2008, unless I count things I bought in 2007 but didn't start weariing until this year).

Equipment : my Ironwear Coolvest.

DVD's : no real standouts this year. Maybe "Jumpforce" or Olajide's new Savage and Serene.

Apparel -- I didn't purchase any this year, not even shoes which I need desperately!

DVD's -- Did 4-DS come out in 07 or 08? That would be my best DVD purchase, along with the Kettlebell Way and AOS Kettlebell Training Clinic. I love my Classical Stretch workouts, too.

MP3 downloads (it wasn't on your list but I'm adding it, k? :D) -- Cardio Coach Volume 8! OMG talk about an arse kicking workout! I have all the workouts but this is the only one I bought in 2008.

Equipment -- Weighted vest (I bought mine from Ironwear Fitness before Cathe came out with one), kettlebells, PlateMates (and I'm probably going to get the Pace weights, too -- I know, I know  ), 8# medicine ball, Cathe's new stability ball, Cathe's resistance tubing and bands. Hmmmmm... I think there's more but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Misc -- I can't think of anything in this category.

ETA I pre-ordered STS!!! That counts for a 2008 purchase, doesn't it!?

Oops!

OK, to complete my list:

I like all my new kettlebell DVDs (AOS Providence, Newport, Firepower and Lauren Brooks' DVD), and I bought almost NO workout clothing, but I did buy yet another frog bra from Title Nine, and I still love those darn things. I also still love my Nike Frees.

LauraMax: I also hated that dumb Kettlebell Goddess DVD! WORST DVD EVER. Ever!

Lisa

Well, I'm going to sound silly since I only got into Cathe at the start of 2008.

Apparel: my champion sports bras and my Ryka N-gage instructors. The sports bras have kept me going in a workout since my boobs don't move around and the ryka's give excellent lateral support making stepping much easier.

Equipment: My step...my high step...my barbell...and my band.

DVDs....all of the ones I have now? 4DS for sure at the top, LowMax and LIC, and now I' m getting into the Imaxes. I only got Cathe DVDs after the start of 2008 and I really like all of them. I tend to like the cardio/circuit ones more but that's probably because I'm only now getting into heavier lifting.

Misc...probably getting my husband to really workout with me and Cathe. It's so cool to watch him wait for me to finish a workout so he can do GS or ask me ahead of time to do a kickboxing workout together.

Apparel: My running shorts from REI. I've been wearing the same workout shorts for years and finally found a better pair to fit my big butt. :p Great fit, nice pocket in the back for keys and reflectors on the side. Yeah!

DVDs: The Extreme Cardio Kettlebell Workout by Keith Weber

Equipment: My Sled Dawg and 18# Dynaball

Misc: Running and participating in races. I love it! I'm meeting lots of cool people and visiting different cities. I even have 3 bronze medals to show for my endeavors and I'm not even that great of a runner.
