So, my friend gave me the 4 book series a few weeks ago.. oh man, are they good!!!

I'm about 1/2 way through the 3rd book in the series and I can't stop reading them.

For those of you who don't know about them, they are a series of books about a teenage girl in love with a vampire ( who happens to be good). They were designed for teenage girls, but I tell ya, I 'm totally sucked in! ( pun intended)

Very reminiscent of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel series from a few years back, which I totally loved.

If you are looking for a good "brain candy" read I would highly suggest picking these up.

PS.. The first book of the series is called "Twilight" and the movie is coming out in November.

Take care, Lynn M.

Lynn, I just finished Twilight on Thurs and was really excited to read it. Unfortunately these books are just not for me. I really liked the parts about vampires and learning about Edward and his family. However, the lovey-dovey mushiness between he and Bella just went on forever. If I heard that they loved each other again I was going to puke . It seems that people that I know that have read these either love or hate them.

Do you know anything about the casting for the movie? I'd be interested in seeing who they are casting for the characters.

I'm on the 4th book, though under protest (several of the girls in our family are reading the series, including my daughter...they twisted my arm). :p I don't mind the story ~ neat concept, but I'm in the Nauseated-by-Bella-and-Edward camp. I did okay with Twilight, and better with the second book...now I'm just annoyed.

I forget the books are intended for a much younger audience though. I should cut the author some slack.

The movie looks good! Did you see the parody trailer? :D

Lori-

Thanks for sending over the parody trailer.. that was very funny!

I do agree with you both about the sappy stuff, there is alot of it.. but for young teenage girls, I'm sure they don't mind! :)

I read all 4 of them and did like them, although I actually hated Bella. I thought she was a pain in the butt through most of the series and I hope that Kristin Stewart's version of her is better in the upcoming movie. The books are definitely written for the teen sect, but if you can keep that in the back of your mind, they can still be a fun read. It was kind of nostalgic for me. ;) I do have to admit though that I kept hoping she would ditch that doting Edward and run off with Jacob. ;)

My DD (14 yr old) can't put these down. She's almost done with the last one. These were on her HS's list of recommended summer reading books. I'm very tempted to read them myself, simply because I want to know why she likes them so much!

LOL!! I've been thinking the same thing;) I'm just about done with the 3rd book and have enjoyed reading the series. A light read is nice once in awhile.

I'm not a reader but I just found out about Twilight a few weeks ago. I was heading to Vegas the following day and needed reading on the plane so a friend suggested it and lent it to me and OH MY GOD I LOVE IT! I never wanted to put it down. And I don't like to read! It just reminds me of my first few dates and times I met my first and current "real" boyfriend (we have been together for 5 years). I mean obviously not the vampire part lol but the love story. And I like that its not TOO mushy (I hate that crap lol). GREAT BOOK! I can't wait to finish. I'm almost done. Good think my friend bough the series of books that follow because I'm tight with money but never wanna stop reading them! lol

LOL about Bella running off with Jacob. I totally agree! He seems like he's way more fun than Edward . Plus, it kind of grosses me out that Edward is always ice cold. I'm always cold and would hate to snuggle up to someobdy that would feel like an iceberg!

Yeah, I would rather get toasting hot in a sleeping bag with Jacob over freezing my bum off with Edward any day!!!

I started out preferring Jacob. That is until his more manipulative side started to reveal itself. I won't say anymore in the event some haven't gotten to that part yet. ;)

My 16 year old son started reading these books a couple of weeks ago. He couldn't put them down. Every time I saw him he had his nose in a book. Being a bookworm myself I have to say I enjoyed watching him read. I prefer it to the video games that he usually plays.:)

I was curious to see what was so intriguing so I picked up Twilight one day when he left it lying around. Needless to say I got sucked into the story also. I'm just starting the fourth book. I have a hard time putting them down myself:)
