    Chiropractors?

I suffered with back pain for nearly two years. I went to two different sports medicine doctors. The first one did not exray my back, but only prescribed muscle relaxers--they didn't help. I suffered another year until I went to the second doctor who promptly exrayed my back which should my...

    Yoga/Pilates

Pilates is best done with a live instructor. I do not recommend videos until you've had the experience of having subtle form corrections made. A small form mistake can make a world of difference in Pilates, much more so than yoga.

    Curves for Women?

I've only heard of one person who goes to the one in our area. She is not someone who is physically fit, even though she goes to this 3-4 time a week for several months now. She does not look overweight, either. She visited my hi-lo aerobics class with a friend. These are ladies and men in...

    Step Videos for Aerobics Instructors

LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-02 AT 12:03PM (Est)[p]I've been an instructor for 15 years and Cathe tapes are really the only ones that I've found challenging. I can take ideas from her tapes, however I virtually always have to change them to fit my classes, which are multi-level. As for Rhythmic step...

    Yoga/Pilates

I teach both and my classes are totally different. First of all, in yoga we hold a lot of poses "still." We will have very little movement, compared to my pilates class. The strength comes from isometric holding of poses, and there is a lot of emphasis placed on flexibility. Pilates is...

I have two that I think came from Sports Music .. . www.sportsmusic.com THey have TONS of steady-tempo walking tapes, but the interval ones I have are for group fitness. There are different ratios like 3 1/2 minutes slow to 1 1/2 minutes fast. Or there are ones that are 4 minutes each. The...

    Reebok Core Training

I took a total of 3 classes at the ACSM in vegas last summer with Robert Sherman. I liked the class, but there wasn't any benefits you couldn't get without the $250 board. In fact, I took two classes on the same day and wasn't sore the next day -- I was disappointend. My boss had spoken to...

    Treadmill question

MIne is 5 years old, I got it from Sears. It is a "gym-quality" treadmill. It had been respossessed. I paid around $1200. It is just as good as the Star Trak ones we have at my gym. This is one item that I truly believe the phrase -- you get what you pay for.

Can you remember how you "found" Cathe?

Collage Video . . . I liked the ratings her tapes got. I had previously bought tapes that were way tooooooo easy.

    Mat Pilates Class

I have have the Ana Caban tape, too. You can buy it at the Living Arts website www.livingarts.com There is a beginner and an intermediate. I teach mat pilates in a gym, not a pilates studio. I tell my students that if it isn't difficult, you aren't doing it right. It should get harder...

    Personal question for personal trainers

At our gym, we all make $25 per hour and we do not have to pay a "floor fee" to the gym. Some gyms require you to pay a percentage of your income to the gym, so that would be a big factor. We have to pay to keep our certifications up to date, which involves time and money. Also, there are...
