Yummy mummies check in

Hi Ladies! I'm back from being MIA! Sorry I have not wrote in a while. Work has been too busy and for the past almost 2 weeks I have not been feeling well. I can't say it is a cold because I have no other symptoms other than a sore throat and ear pressure that is making me have headaches. Hopefully this will run its course soon because I signed up for a holiday challenge on the Cool Running Forum that is supposed to start Monday. There will be about 5 or 6 teams with a captain and co-captain. Every Monday there is a weigh in and if you lose weight or maintain weight then you get points. However, if you gain weight you lose points. Maybe this is the motivation I need to lose these darn 10-15 pounds, or at least not gain anything during the holidays. I really need to get back on track. My motivation has gone out the window.

Melanie - Count me in on the challenge. I need to give up my chocolate/candy addiction. I hope I can make it for a whole week. About 2 months ago I gave up my one-a-day soft drink. That was SO Hard! I was truly addicted. Lately I have been having a soda about every other day, but I plan to stop drinking them as well beginning Monday.

Shopaholic, I'm glad your little one's bottom is doing better. Alexander always had a rash on his little bottom and private area that would not go away no matter what I tried. The doctor just kept telling me that his skin was very sensitive in that area. I'm glad something worked for Alexis.

Well, I will try to write more later. I hope everyone is having a great day!:)

Briee, Did you go to that indoor waterpark again? If so, I am so jealous! Okay, Briee and Autumn, I still need some coaxing... Tell me, what would you say you've seen results-wise from using P90X? Also, are there any deals to get it for a better price? I'm still thinking about it, but not ready to shell out the bucks.

I can't remember all of my workouts last week

Mon- PLB + BC cardio
Tue- ? cardio video
Wed- PUB
Thu- ? something
Fri- C&W
Sat- 6 mile run

Shopaholic, I use Aveeno, but I really like Gerber Diaper Rash Cream. It is like Aveeno, but a little thicker. The only reason I don't use Gerber all of the time is because I can only find it at Babies R Us, not my nearby stores. In general, I have better luck with creams that have zinc oxide, not just petroleums and other lubricants.

Hi all,
Melanie, I am still deciding about that chocolate challenge. The princess's bottom is all cleared up, 3 days of store brand desitin did the trick.
What are all the ghouls and boys being for Halloween?

Glad Alexis is all clear! Emy, I couldn't believe the Aquaphor worked for the very reason you mentioned it... I have used petroleum products before with no luck.... but he had this rash for 8 days... as I said, I tried different zinc oxide products... I was desperate when the doctor mentioned the Aquaphor. It worked!

Sydney is going to be Cinderealla and Jordan an elephant.

Justin's 9mo baby check was Wednesday. He's doing great. He's just gained 2 lbs since his 6mo check up. He's thinning out with all his activity. He's WALKING already!!!! I can't believe it. My little baby. :( I'm so happy for him though...b/c he's been working so hard for this since he was about 4mos old. He's so cute. He gets this super dooper huge smile on his face. It's so big he makes his eyes real slanted, and his two teeth hang out of his mouth and you could acutally see his smile if you were looking at him from behind him. He's sooooo awesome!!

Glad everyone's tushes are looking better. Justin had a tad of thrush & fungal diaper rash. A little Nystatin will make it go away... It looks good already after just one treatment. Otherwise, I use Creamy Destin. I like that stuff better than the ointment. There is actually an Aquaphor that is marketed for baby's now. I'm glad it worked, and it's nice to know what works, so I can offer suggestions to other Mommy's when they ask for advice at work. You guys are so educated!!!! ;)

Chocolate, and only chocolate, isn't that enough for you Briee? Your such an over achiever. What else do you want to take on? I know, chocolate isn't really a passion for you, right? How about donuts AND chocolate for you...just chocolate for the rest of us? :D :D

Hotspur, what do you think of Tae Bo Extreme? It looks so fun. I'm contemplating ordering it (b/c I need more exercise vids like I need a hole in my head). Anyway, I do like Tae Bo & I adore step videos. Let me know.

For everyone who's praying that Justin will find an awesome childcare provider: God is in the process of answering our prayers! I'm going to be asking my boss to drop one more day/week. So we're looking for someone to watch him just Tuesdays & every other Friday. Isn't that awesome?!?!? DH will take care of him the other days...as I hope to drop down to 30hrs/weeks (currently at 32hrs/week). Anyway, on Wednesdays, I help out with a Bible Study class for 3-4 yr olds, and the lady I co-teach with is seriously considering it! Praise God! She's awesome. She's about 50 yrs old or so, and has a 3 year-old boy. She lives about 2 miles from the pharmacy. I"m praying/praising God for this possibility. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

I highly recommend this TBX to anyone who likes Tae Bo. This is my second Tae Bo I own. The first ones I couldn't stand because it was so fast and clumsy. This one, I think it's worth it. Although I do not recommend doing weights like an exerciser on PCP or Speed. That was the only part I didn't like. I went my own pace OR if you want to do the weights at his speed, I'd put on weighted gloves since it's easier. He uses 3lbs dumbbells. I was going to say barbell....I think everyone would get killed doing the barbell! :) What he did Cathe NEVER did for me was made my bootie and thighs SORE an hour after the workout. I SWEATED like crazy. Perfect for you, Mel since you love to sweat like crazy. Give it a try and see if you like it. If not, you could always trade it on videofitness for something else. :)

Yes Emy....I'm a waterpark junkie. AND it was so cool. This time the Kalahari had this big wave attraction where you can surf. You start at the top of this thing that is blasting water at 10,000 gallons per minute up a steep incline and you jump into it on your board and then if you can balance yourself (ie just like surfing in the curl of the wave) you come up to a kneeling position and then stand. AND the really cool part is the waver they make you sign at the beginning where you vow not to sue them when you die so you just KNOW that this must REALLY be fun. This lifeguard and I were at the top and he was trying to convince me to jump and I finally said "is this gonna hurt" and he says "well ya have to really jump into it or you will fly back up the incline and that hurts cause you'll hit me" My only question was (and yes I did ask him this) "will it hurt ME or you". "ME" he says. I told him "Good, that's your job - I'll jump". And I did. And it was WAY cool as my son would say. So Emy when are you going?????

Melanie. Sorry, I'm just not chocolate driven, although lately I've been having these wonderful little things that I got at that little Amish store down the street. They are Nestle's Crunch Bars, but lo carb so no sugar - just lots of good healthy fiber... um um um. I'm going to have to give up donuts along with you and this will be MY challenge!!

Kristi.....is this challenge you're signing up for on Cathe's site? Mel sounds like it might be up your alley!! RUNNING (yechhhhh - man I wish I was a runner - but am just NOT)

Now who asked about the P90X up there, oh Emy, I think it was you. I was a Cathe monogomist until it came to the P90X and it's worth it. I'm sure you could pick it up on Ebay soon if not already. The only workouts I use from it are strength, but they were worth it. My upper body has become much more balanced. I thought I was working my back, but I wasn't until I did pullups. In fact it's interesting, when I do that back stretch where you clasp your hands together behind your back and pull your shoulder blades together....I now feel so much muscle back there that it's harder to squeeze together. This is such a strange feeling. I needed a good heavy challenge so for me this workout was perfect. My shoulders are beginning to separate into muscle groups....finally! (anterior delts, posterior delts etc) I'll have to take a picture sometime...but I'm pretty picture resistant - kind of a modesty thing. P90X pushed me over the "edge" so to speak. Cathe's weight workouts are mostly endurance oriented. In the P90X you can go heavy and slow with lots of breaks to stretch. There is not a feeling like you need to DO what the crew is doing - you do whatever you want.

That being said....I still can't wait for Hardcore - I'm sure this will kick it up another level, but I will never regret buying the P90X. If I were you I wouldn't wait for Hardcore....get the P90X. I am much leaner and arms are much Harder as a result of it. I also broke the weight plateau I was at. I'm now just a hair under 5'3 and 106 pounds, I was stuck at 112-114 before the P90X. My tush is still a little chubby/jiggly and I'm adding in heavy weight work from Cathe again (P90X is a little weak in the leg area - but not too bad).

Sorry to ramble on guys...gotta go downstairs and workout now...have a great day all.

Hi Emy! I have been thinking about your question RE; P90X... trying to figure out if I could come up with anything that hasn't already been said... I am a slow thinker these days. :)

I just completed my third week of the P90X classic rotation, so I haven't had the opportunity to use all the strength workouts. I LOVE most of the workouts I have used! Like many others, I am not crazy about the KenpoX... it is ok for a lighter day... but the fun factor I find with CK or KPC is just not there. I personally enjoy PlyoX. YES, the strength workouts alone are worth the money. The strength gains after 3 weeks just amaze me. When I started, I did my push ups from the knees... now I can squeeze out a couple from the toes... then finish out my set by going down on the toes and up from my knees. It is a small step... but it is progress. I am tackling pullups the next phase... I'll let ya know how that goes. Also, I was barely losing 1/2 pound/week before P90X... now I am back to 2 pounds/week. I wish I could see a difference, but the fat has to go for that to be possible. :) I also agree that P90X is a weak in the leg area, but then again, I like LL.}( I wish I were brave enough for before and after pics... but I am afraid... VERY afraid of how bad the hail damage is on my backside. :)

Have a good day ladies. I have to go finish a few things before Church and Trick or Treating.

Autumn

Hi Briee! Sorry I did not read your message until just now. I signed up at coolrunning.com for the challenge. They have actually postponed the beginning of the challenge due to about 130 people joining until Nov. 8. However, I am starting today. I need to lose some weight. About a week ago I thought my scale was not accurate so I weighed my dumbbells and Yup I was right it was off. This weekend I bought a new scale and I'm about 5 pounds heavier than my other scale said I was. No wonder my clothes were not fitting properly. I guess this will get my butt in gear along with the challenge.
