Your strangest holiday gift?

From one of my dearest (male) friends, I received a lamp for Christmas about 8 years ago. The weird thing is that this lamp was shaped like a pagoda, covered in white goatskin (with hair still on it) and had a big Japanese kanji painted on the front of it. It was THE weirdest looking thing.

The best part? He handed it to me and said, "I saw this and thought of you!"

No idea why. I'm not Japanese. I don't have Japanese decor. I don't like goats!

It eventually went to Goodwill... I would have paid money to see their faces at the donation center.

A distant friend bought me and my two children a small box of chocolates each - When we opened them, they turned light brown - They were old. She gave my husband about 25 AVON Sample Packs of Cologne. Strange!!!

A supervisor I once had picked me from the office who-gives-who-a gift hat. She bought me a container of make-up brushes. Not a bad gift you say, well no, not as gifts go. But the woman had worked with me for almost 6 months and never noticed that I don't ever wear make-up.

Yep sure made me feel special!

My boys take the honor of funniest gifts. I've gotten things like a kid size plate with Nemo on it, 2 over-sized green Christmas bulbs, that of course, must go on the tree each year...now that they are older they actually get me things I'd want, but when they were little it was fun just seeing what they'd pick.

The absolute funniest Christmas oops I've ever seen was made by my Dad (back before video). My Mom had been really wanting him to make her a dry sink and she knew he was working on something for her. So, on Christmas Day he proudly wheeled out her new "sewing machine and cabinet" the look on her face was just hysterical. She HATES to sew, never learned much beyond hemming and was completely disappointed, but trying not to show it and not pulling it off at all. Needless to say my Grandma, who sewed beautifully, eventually ended up with the sewing machine/cabinet and he eventually made Mom what she wanted. To this day I wish I'd been able to capture that moment on film.
