Your recommendation for vitamins organizer

Hi folks!

I need some recommendations from the Educated Crowd. I've been taking (for a long time) a multi-vitamin and about 5 other vitamins and supplements -- some of them twice daily -- and I've HAD it with carrying all those vitamin/supplement bottles in my suitcase. This past weekend we went up to UNC for a quick visit with our sons, and I swear to you guys that my pill bottles took up more room in my tote bag than practically anything else.

So today I've been looking online for a refillable vitamins/pills organizer, and holy cow, there are jillions to choose from in every conceivable design and price, I see.

If you use one of these gadgets that you'd recommend, could you tell me where you got it and what it's like?

Here are the features I'd like to have:

  • 7-day (Monday - Sunday) organizer
  • Pretty big capacity per day -- because some of these vitamins and supplements (the evening primrose oil and the flax seed oil that I take, for example) are absolutely horse-sized pills.
  • Also, 2 compartments for each day, so I could "dose" out my morning and afternoon vitamins.
  • Ideally, each day's organizer section could be taken out and put into your purse separately -- so, for example, if you were going out for several hours and planned to have lunch and take your afternoon vitamins, you could carry along with you JUST that day's vitamins.
Many thanks, everyone!! :D

When I travel, I just dose everything out and then toss it all in a ziploc bag - generally the snack-size is sufficient. If you really need to separate some pills, you could just use the more than one of smaller snack size bags. I keep the bags in my luggage when I get home, so they're there for the next time.

I take a lot of supplements every day and it got too overwhelming to deal with all of those bottles. So what I did is I got 2 packages of snack size ziploc baggies and wrote an A (am) on half and a P (pm) on half with a sharpie. Then about once each two months I spend an hour or two filling them with the appropriate pills. Then I always have them ready and don't have to think about it on a daily basis. They are also always ready for me if I am eating out or traveling. I got smaller baggies from Walgreens that are 2 1/2" x 3" and are called Ezy Dose Pill Pouch. I got these for DH who takes about 5 pills per day and they are the perfect size. They have boxes to check for AM or PM and a line to write on day of the week. We keep our pill baggies in large tupperware and just grab as needed. This has worked out excellently for us.

Good luck.

I use a small (3" x 4") tackle box that has been divided into six sections. Each section easily holds multiple days worth of pills, and you cannot beat the price.

I need to be more disciplined and do exactly what you're doing so I don't have to mess with the pill bottles on a daily basis!! I do exactly as you're doing though, when I go away overnight. I use the 2x3 size plastic packets (found them at Michael's Craft Store & Walmart) to organize the AM & PM doses, and then I just grab a packet as needed. Simple and economical. ;)
