your favorite natural looking mascaras?

I have lashes that are naturally a little long, but blonde, so I like to use mascara to darken them a bit. Most mascaras I use make my lashes look fake-ish because they make them too long and have that mascara/hard look.

All you beauty experts out there, any recommendations for ones that are meant to give a more natural look? Or maybe it's how I'm applying it? TIA.

I have blonde eyelashes (and brows), with red hair. I use "Just For Redheads" mascara in Henna, they have several formulas and colors. Probably doesn't help you much if you don't have red hair. Before I found JFR (which is online only, I think...www.justforredheads.com) I used Lancome defincils in brown. It was pricey..but the softest brown I could find.

I think the best natural looking mascara's are Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof or La Femme Cake Mascara. These are great and inexpensive. Great Lash you can get anywhere. I got La Femme Cake Mascara at amazon.com. I find that both of them are great to give my lashes lots of volume without clumping. I use vegetable shortening as makeup remover instead of cold cream and it works great to remove these both. I did find that the cake mascara takes some time getting used to it but it does work nicely without having spiderleg type lashes and clumping, I hate that look.

I hope that helps~

Hugs!

Very useful thread! I also have eyelashes that are long and those lengthening mascaras streak up my glasses and mess up my make-up. I frequently wear colorless mascara. I'll have to try some of the suggestions here, as I do like that extra bit of color, and the defining effect of dark mascara.

I get my lashes dyed. It's silly, I know, but omg it works and I never have to worry about my contacts, or smudges under my eyes, or crying, ANYTHING!! :) I have long blond-ish lashes. I look 100 times better after I get them done, and it's hard not to notice how hawt I look. LOL!!! ;)

Seriously, though, it's worth it to me. It costs me $25 every 6-8 weeks; I know I'd spend more than that on mascara! I could never find one that worked best for me.

I am so jealous of all of you girls with long lashes! Mine are fine and short. I don't go anywhere without mascara (except when I had to take my daughter to the emergency room) because all you would be able to see is a face with no eyes. My daughters are very lucky though. They have beautiful LONG lashes. Sorry I couldn't help, I just wanted to tell you I'm jealous.

I love Covergirl Volume Exact. One coat looks very natural, two coats for going out and the price is great!

For the most natural look, I love Neutrogena's Lash Tint. It's actually what I wear when I'm going for the natural look, and what I bought for my 13 year old daughter. It also rinses away really easily and completely, so that if you get super sweaty, or wet, you can just wipe it off easily with a tissue and you are less likely to have raccoon eyes.

For a more intense, but not outrageous look, I like Almay volume mascara, and for uber glam, I like Loreal Lash Extend.

OMG! I did not know something like this existed, next time I am out I am buying this - love my Lancome, but for sweaty running or swimming days - this is perfect and waterproof mascara just plain ol' sucks.

:D
