You burn the fat first......right?

Thanks so much you guys....I'm sorry if I'm driving you nuts, but Wayne, how did you come up with those numbers? I have an inquiring mind and I just HAVE to know...tee hee. I am currently doing the Self Challenge and really want to see that through but may do something like this to lose a few if I still need to or to maintain. Thanks so much for your help!

Sounds good. My unscientific opinion is that the overfeed day is counterproductive. I would make that day 2500 or 2700 and stop there, just to avoid undoing all the hard work. That's my idea, not the website's. "Just a suggestion, take it or leave it."

This is really interesting. Okay, I am trying to figure this out. I weigh 117 at 5'5", BMI 19.5% -just want to drop the last 5 pounds. So if I do the math, I have 1755 maintenance calores per day. For weight loss it is 994.5 x 7 days is 6961.5 for the week. So I just average the rest of it out? Does that sound about right?

I think 995 is too low except for maybe one day. Try to get them to average out to 1300 or 1350. When you are as thin as you are, the last little bit has to be gradual. I think you'll be way too hungry and burning up muscle if you go that low.

You'll lose the last 5 lbs over a longer period, but you'll stay sane and healthy. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds good to me. I really struggle with the dieting portion of my program, so I appreciate the advice.

Thank you guys so much for your help with this. I think I'm going to start this next week. Alright, I'm going to take your suggestion into consideration. How's this now: 1100, 1350, 2250, 1100, 1350, 900, 2700?

Also, I've read through a lot of the other responses on this particular post. Does it matter whether you go "higher, lower, higher, lower, higher, lower, higher" with the calories in the week or is it better just to follow the format given on the website?

RE: Calorie staggering

Ok, from the website it looks like he is using 10 X his body weight X 7 days for a weekly total. Then it looks like his breakdown is:

day 1 .6 x daily calorie intake
day 2 .75 x
day 3 1.25 x
day 4 .6 x
day 5 .75 x
day 6 .5 x
day 7 1.75 x

Then it says you should use 8.5 x your weight for weight loss. If use the 10x formula at a weight of 150 my low days of .6 and .5 are 900 and 750 calories (!!!) If I use the 8.5x my low day would be 637 calories. WHAT? This must be wrong. I would like to make this program work for me since I've been stuck at this weight for a while now but something must be wrong with my interpretation. ???

I would take 200 or even 300 of your 2250 and 2700 day calories and give them to those other days that are so low. You won't believe what a rice cake and 1/2 T. of peanut butter will do for you at 8 pm on a hungry day.

My other idea is yes, just go for what you describe here. Stick with it for 3 weeks and see how you do, if you need to tweak, tweak the way I suggest, OK? And please please keep me posted if you want support. [email protected]
