hi all,

boy, was i surprised that i'd be this sore from ctx upper body..i used to do the ctx rotation, w/o major soreness or problems..but doing all the upper body of ctx together in one workout...AND challenging myself w/ the amt of weight i used, have been key...in making this wkt extra intense and seemingly effective! (i've been doing the pyramid wkts for the past month, and just started the "july rotation" of cathe's this week.)

boy, when i do ctx ub, i find i have to do the same weight amt as cathe (which is major for me! ;) ) to get the fatigue and burn..but ...boy....did i fatigue and burn!!!!!! phew!!!!!! it's interesting to see how the strength gains of pub, has helped me in endurance wkts, too! (including imax)

this is a great workout, i may have to cave and cough up the moola to get the ctx ub tape, rather than having to queue all my videos for the weight workout portions. :)

just thought i'd share!!
have a good nite!

tomorrow is leaner legs...eeeeek! ;D

Hi bq, CTX upper body has always been my favorite Cathe weight workout!:D I'm ALWAYS sore when I really put my all into CTX upper. I think CTX UB and LL is still are still the toughest workout's Cathe has put out to date.
I, like you, had to rewind and fastforward each weight segment on CTX upper until I went DVD. You're definitely going to have to cave in and get the whole workout together. No rest in between muscle groups makes a huge difference!
Have fun with LL!}( I agree....eeeek!

bq,
I too have been using the pyramids a lot and I love them. I see a lot of muscle definition in my arms. Monday I did Back and Power Circuit from CTX. Yesterday I did the rest of CTX upper body and my oh my did it burn! I have noticed a lot of improvement since I have been doing PUB and it showed through when I did CTX. I am now able to match Cathe for all of the exercises. I had to quit 2 reps early when she used the 15's for overhead presses. I am dreading CTX LL, but I can't wait to see how I do after doing PLB.

I say get CTX upper body or better yet make the switch to DVD's!}( :7
Have a good one!:7

gogigi,

I just finished a month of PLB and did LL last night. It wasn't nearly as mean as I had remembered. I think you'll like how it feels. Plenty challenging, mind you, but for me, not nearly so much cursing and whining at the screen. Let us know!

hi ann :)

yup, it's definitely different..i think i was more out of breath from LL than with PLB...but i was definitely stronger from PLB and able to go heavier and stay with cathe on LL. but if i had to choose..(thank goodness i don't have to! LOL!) i like PLB cuz i love the floor work (sans some of those 'froggie style' rolling in the ball thingies.. ;)

legs are killer, no matter which way you slice it. tomorrow's ME...never done this one before..so...we'll see how well my legs have recovered. and my delts are "still" a bit sore from CTX UB! :p i can't wait for cathe's new tapes! woohoo!

take care!
happy friday!
bq

Hey Ann,
Yes, since I have been doing PLB, LL seemed much more doable....yet still HARD!!! I wasn't whining as much until the static lunges where you do like 8 lowends...Cathe even says that we're going to stay down here until further notice or something like that. I had to drop the weights completely to finish. My leg was SHAKING!!!! Everything else went much better and I was able to keep the weight Cathe uses and finish the reps. LL will ALWAYS be a challenge....love it yet hate it if ya know what I mean!

July Rotation

bq, how is your July rotation going? I am doing it too. I did ME today for the first time. It was fun but not as hard as Power Hour. Nice workout layout.

I was unable to do LL on Wednesday because my legs were swollen from IMAX 1...so I rested and did Imax 2 instead of MIC the next day. Tomorrow is running on my treadmill for 40 minutes and abs from Step Heat. How are you doing? Anyone else out there doing the July Rotation??????

Blessings from our home to yours...Runathon

Last night was my first time to do CTX upper after a month of PUB and, like LL, it was a bit easier, too. Even push-ups which I haven't done conventionally (I did PUB, PLB, and Strong Bear as my weights for a month) for quite a while. I also think the pyramids help with mental discipline because they are so regular and predictable. Then that translates over to a more irregular pattern like CTX upper and LL. I have the confidence to tough it out. What fun!

RE: July Rotation

hey runathon!

we're on the same july rotation :)...i have my '40 min walk/run' tomorrow, too. but..i may substitute it with something else (no treadmill..rats!)

i agree with you re: ME, being fun but not as hard as power hour..PH always 'gets me' :p but gee, all those 'step ups' in ME (everytime i turned around, we were doing them "again"!) .. i could have done w/o those.. ;)

i'm excited to continue with this rotation...my legs were still a bit sore from LL for today's ME..but i did okay, since the weights were a bit lighter.

after just finishing the pyramid rotation last month...these more endurance type wkts are interesting, in terms of soreness. i'm interested to find out how my body responds to this type or wkt vs. the 'heavy weights' from PUB/PLB/S&H ...

are you enjoying this rotation, too?

btw, good job on listening to your body resting, and substituting. i think that is soooo important!

pls keep me posted on your progress! hang in there!!!

~july rotation-ers ;) UNITE!!!~
