Yeast infections

Hi ladies! I hope that I don't gross anyone out, but I need to hear of other's experiences with yeast infections during pregnancy. I have had one since I got pregnant and it is just miserable. The nurse practitioner at my ob/gyn said that it was okay to use Monistat 7 (I am over 6 months now). I asked the pharmacist, too, when I was at the drug store and she said that a lot of doctors prescribe it now for women over 3 months. I just get nervous and would really like to hear if anyone else went through this and if you used anything to get rid of it. Please help!! ;(

I had a yeast infection for 7 out of the 9 months I was pregnant with my 3rd. Over the counter medicine would just mask the symptoms but not get rid of the infection. Soo in my 8th month I ask the doctor who then tested me and found out that I had a different kind of yeast infection that isn't treatable by the OTC drugs. Soo I got a prescription and it worked and I got to spend the 9th month yeast infection free!!! But of course I now have to get a prescription for all my yeast infections since I am "special" in that I don't get the ones that otc drugs can cure. My advice is to have you doctor culture your yeast and see if it in of a different nature and maybe a prescription of Terasol(sp?) (what I took or used) will work for you!:)

Hope that helps some and don't scratch!!!!!:+

RE: Yeast infections (or something like that)

Hi Sara! I developed something called Luchoria (sp????) during my pregnancy that is symptomatically like a yeast infection but in fact is NOT one. However, I was told to treat it like one. I did not get any prescriptions but I was told to watch my sugar and yeast intake. I noticed that when I ate a lot of sweets and refined sugars or white flour stuff (as well as juices and pop) that I would have a lot of discharge, ordor and itching. When I "cut it out" as my doctor told me to (which was hard as salt-n-sour chips, lemon heads and other things were suggested to me for help with nauseau and vomiting throughout my pregnancy)I became symptom free.

I'm not sure if this is what you have or what your diet is but I totally did not see this coming with my pregnancy and went about 2 months before I discovered what my problem was.

Hope this helps!!

RE: Yeast infections (or something like that)

Thank you for your replies, ladies! I have been using Monistat 7 and I have three more days. It seems to be working, but we will see. Jeni - I should take your advice anyway, and cut out some of the sugar that I have been eating! I will try anything, and it would certainly be better for my baby too!! Thanks again!
