Good Morning Chickas ;)

Today was CTX upper body and LL abs. I really liked CTX upper and may sub it when its time for PUB! I think its a great workout and can be VERY effective if done regularly.

Gin~ Your dog is very cute!! (wrote on the last weeks thread, not sure if you saw it) Since you don't have CTX what are you going to sub? ME upper?

Marcy~ Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Have a great day!!!!

Hi Girls!

Today I did LIC upper body and LIC abs. I had trouble with the pushups! Even when I go to my knees and even after all of those pushups I did a couple of weeks ago, they are tough for me! I was planning to do Terminator Guantlet cardio only also, but I'm not feeling 100%, so not today.
I'm trying to rest/clean the house for all of the boys we have coming over Thursday (as if they care about a clean house!:p)

Deanie~Glad you enjoyed CTX upper body. It's a good thing that my dog is cute, because she can be bad!:( She is quite bossy, rips up the mail, runs away, barks a lot, but she does LOVE everyone and would never bite!:)

Hi Marcy! Hope you are having a good weekend!

Monday

ugh monday.....

Good Morning ;)

Today is The Gauntlet cardio only. Glad its only 45 min, I'm having a hard time getting started today. A little sore today in chest and biceps!

Gin ~ I hope you are feeling better. You won't believe it , (well, maybe you will....) I redid the rotation last night.!! I really liked CTX upper and am going to do it again next week. I got rid of the Pyramids week and am doing PP premixes for the 3rd week. Is it hard to color your hair at home? I have been thinking of doing it at home, worried I may do it wrong and have orange hair or my hair fall out!!....

Marcy ~ I hope you had a great weekend.

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Today was also Term Guantlet cardio only. It was raining so no run today. I also had trouble getting up. This cold has wiped me out for some reason. I had to modify the Guantlet a little....no squat thrust climbers or fast foot repeaters.:p

Deanie~I am going to re-order the Pyramids from advanced workouts and if it comes in in time, I'll do it. I guess the first order didn't go through.
It is not hard to color your hair. I have been doing it for years. I would ask your hair dresser to give you a formula though. I thought you just highlighted your hair. Are you wanting to change the color?

Hi Marcy!

Have a great day!:D

Good Afternoon

Can't believe I have a minute...busy day. Off to pick up the kids and go to the dentist in a few....

Gin~ Sorry you aren't feeling well. Still, you got in a great workout even without the squat thrusts and fast feet. I changed up the rotation again :eek:!!! I am repeating this weeks weight work for the splits, so I'm not using the Pyramids. So don't worry if they don't come in. Why don't you order from Cathe.com? Usually its a two day turn around. I do mostly highlight my hair, but last time she put some color in too???Not sure what she did, but I like it. Unfortuneatly we really have to watch $$$ now, and this is something I can cut corners on (I think)

Marcy ~ Are you out there????:p:) Hope you are not too busy at work!! Miss ya!

Good Afternoon!

Saturday - 2 3/4 chinups and East Coast Swing Lessons. Back was hurting a little bit so skipped chinups for Sunday.

Today - Did S&H Chest & Back. It's been so long since I did this. I forgot (and didn't want to be reminded) how tough Cathe's chest work is. I really haven't done weighted chest work in a while. Here's my stats:

Bench Press: Set 1: 25.4#, 8 reps; 2: 25.4#, 4 reps and 23.4#, 4 reps; Set 3: 23.4#, 5 reps
Chest Flies: Sets 1 and 2: 18.6#, 8 reps; set 3: 18.6#, 5 reps
Incline Bench Press: Sets 1 and 2: 18.6#, 6 reps; Set 3: 18.6#, 7 reps (my right arm was really bothering me with these)
Incline Chest Fly: Set 1: 18.6#, 6 reps; Set 2: 15.4#, 8 reps; Set 3: 15.4#, 7 reps
Pushups

It felt so good to get to back work!

Double Arm Dbbl Rows: Set 1: 15.4#, 8 reps; Sets 2 and 3: 20.4#, 8 reps
Dbbl Pullovers: Set 1: 23.8#, 8 reps; Sets 2 and 3: 26#, 8 reps
Dbbl Deadlifts: Sets 1 and 2: 23.4#, 8 reps; Set 3: 23.4# had to rest after 4 reps and then finished the last 4 reps (so much of a difference from barbell to dbbls which I find harder)
Supermans: Did with 2# handweights
Planks: Seemed to go on forever but I held them all!

Took me 1:30 to finish the workout. I always need longer rests otherwise I can't get through the workout.

I haven't done any of my new workouts yet but I'll probably do one of them on Thursday (seems to be my designated yoga day).

Deanie - Stop gushing about CTX (I'll have something else to put on my wishlist that I can't afford!):( Just kidding! Glad you're enjoying it. CTX and Pure Strength are the only ones on DVD I still need to get. I only have All Step from CTX which I like. I also would have liked Palin to answer more questions instead of sticking to her own agenda. Shows a weakness to me. I had already made up my mind already as well.

Gin - Hope your cold goes away soon. Sounds like your dog is quite a handful! Does he bother you during your workouts? Your avatar is adorable! Hope you're able to run a marathon this year. How's your mom doing?

Have a great day!

Marcy

Good Morning

Today was LL and I did CTX kickbox abs. I used the same weights as Cathe (excetp I did 10# for all 3 sets of leg presses) and really worked on my form. It was a great workout and my legs were shaking by the time I was done!:)

Running really late and with 4 hours sleep from last night

Waves to Gin and Marcy ! Gin, hope you feel better. Marcy, great workout yesterday; right after work at 2 today is DS's softball game!! No time for down time today!!

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Today was LL and LL abs. I did not want to get up again this morning, but made myself do it. I didn't use any weights for the sit and stands or the one legged squats, but still felt it. I'm just not 100% and didn't want to push it. I am still fighting this cold....BLAH! I came home early yesterday from work (sick) and then called about 12 subs to find someone to work for me today, but no luck! I have never had to call my own subs before... not fun!

Deanie~ How come only 4 hours of sleep? Hope you can make it through the day okay. Enjoy ds's softball game. Your boys are just natural athletes!
I re-ordered the Pyramids last night. I saved $5. + shipping was free with advanced workouts.
Have you decided if you will color your hair? Will your hair dresser give you the formula she uses/ or order the color for you?

Marcy~I only have LL from CTX on vhs and as much as I might like to have it all on dvd, don't think I want to spend the $.
My dog loves to be in the same room with me when I work out and lick my weights..ICK! If I close the door on her she barks (bossy and demanding). Actually, she CAN be quite sweet.
My ds21 told me the other day that he wants to run a marathon this year. I suggested he start with a half first.
My mom is fine, thank you for asking. My SIL thinks the stress of the storm and loss of power caused the chest pains. Could be.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon Ladies!

I did a set of 4 chins last night (a new record!) I have serious DOMS in my pecs and my back is a little sore from S&H yesterday . I'm not sick but I am feeling a little run down. Almost felt like doing yoga this morning but didn't have a lot of time so I did my planned cardio. Did one of my virgin workouts -- CIA 2502 - Step Inspirations with Heather Rider. It also has a medicine ball workout and a lower body shaping workout which I have yet to try. This one was good -- not too long (almonst an hour), complex but doable (got pretty much all of it on 1st try but was complex enough not to be bored).

Deanie - Good luck to your DS at his softball game. What other ab workout would you compare CTX Kickbox abs to? Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

Gin - Did you watch DWTS last night? I thought Warren was great and also Brooke and Lance. Susan's still too stiff. I keep waiting for her to break out of her shell. Cloris was a mess but I was ROTFLMAO! She really can't dance but she's so entertaining. I think Cloris or Rocco will go tonight or they may keep everyone around another week on account of Misty getting hurt. Toni and Alec's waltz was different but I liked it. I also loved Maurice. This was the first time I liked him. I guess the jive really suits him. I have to agree with the judges. Cody & Julianne didn't impress me this week.

Hope you feel better soon! I also have to arrange for coverage when I'm out. There are a couple of floaters here but not enough if a bunch of people are out. I also cover the switchboard and that I have to call around for coverage.

The $$$ was always what stopped me from buying CTX. My dog doesn't seem to bother me as much in the new house as our old one. I guess because I worked out in the living room so that was more of his space. He was always trying to lick the sweat off. ICK!! Occasionally he'll wander in now. I was doing my yoga last week and I almost kicked him when I went back into chaturanga. I'm glad your mom's doing well. How did things work out with the doctor last week about your headaches?

I guess I've talked enough for now. Will BBL.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Wacky Wednesday

Good Morning

Today was DM scrambled cardio. I just really enjoy this workout! I don't do #3 with a stability ball, instead I am using a 3# weight, and I find I like the drill better.

I set up Super sets for Fri, and I think I am going to try the premix #2: 1A + 1B + 1B, 2A + 2B + (its supposed to be 2B again, but I am going to repeat 2A) its 75 min, so I hope I get up early enough. ;)

Gin ~ Glad to hear your mom is doing well. I hope you are feeling better. I was up late the other night with DS12, we changed his meds and they weren't working (insomnia etc) and he was upset and waking up at night, so we just talked it all out and we switched back to Ritalin yesterday. The boys lost at softball, but they had fun! Didn't you just LOVE LL?? I have DOMs from it :)!! I am gong to talk to my hairdresser in about 6 weeks about coloring/highlighting my hair myself. I have to find a sub when I am sick too. It is really hard!

Marcy ~ WTG with the chins :):D:)!! I'm glad you enjoyed one of your new workouts. CTX is not like her other abs that I can think of. You start off with planks, holding them and then knees in in a 1-1 count, 2-2 count and 4-4 count 2X each. Then you move to suppline planks, holding them and then lifting one leg at a time 2X. Then crunches, reverse crunches, some oblique (did it the workout with punches so not alot of oblique work) some other crunches and then a V sit (like in B&G) - but no stability ball a really good thourogh(sp?) ab workout. I think its about 10-12 min. long.

Just a PS for you guys, I do think CTX is worth the money. Sorry to be an enabler;) The cardios are 1/2 an hour, but they are intense. The upper body work is GREAT and LL you know is good. If it were between the Pyramids and CTX I would go for CTX. There was a time I used the cardio for add ons alot. I think it is a VERY veristile series.

Okay, have a great day.
I won't be on the boards tomorrow, its Yom Kippur. So if I'm not back today, I'll "talk" to you on Friday!:)

Good Morning!

Slept late, no workout, now running late. So today will be my rest day.

Deanie~We'll miss you tomorrow, but hear from you on Friday.
Now you tell me that you'd rather have CTX than Pyramids!!;) That would just about complete my Cathe collection!!:p
Sorry ds had trouble sleeping.

Hi Marcy! Yes, I saw DWTS.

Sorry for the short post...gotta go...

Good Afternoon Chicas!

Today was S&H Shoulders and the stability ball legs segment from Mindy Mylrea's All About Legs. I wanted to do leg and ab work from Pure Barre but got up too late.

Front Raise - 5# 1st two sets; 8# last set (I usually do 10 or 12 for this but my elbow started hurting me immediately so I really scaled back.

Side Raise - 8# all 3 sets (for some reason these feel tougher than the usual side raises -- maybe because of the tilt? or the slow count?)

Posterior Delt Raise - Set 1 - 8#, Set 2 - 8# first 4 reps; 5# last 4 reps; Set 3 - 5#

Seated Overhead Press - Set 1 - 15#; Set 2 - 13# - 7 reps; 10# - 1 rep

Side Lying External Rotation - 5#

The stability ball portion of All About Legs is similar to Pyramid Lower Body but Mindy incorporates a little more balance work.

Deanie - Drill 3 is probably my favorite drill. I guess I'll have to try it with the 3# weight one of these days. What other medication was DS on? My DS was on so many but we pretty much stuck with Ritalin. He doesn't take it anymore - he said he felt too much like a zombie and it always took him forever to go to sleep. CTX Kickbox abs sounds like a great ab workout. If I had the money, I'd definitely get CTX. I do agree it sounds very versatile. We'll miss you tomorrow!

Gin - I think I'd probably like CTX better than the pyramids too. Maybe if I had some new Select Tech dumbbells that I could change real quickly but she goes so fast changing the weights, it drives me crazy. Although I do admit my biceps really burn from PUB.

Have a great day!

Marcy

Hi Again!

Sorry I had to run off so quickly this morning. I have to leave the house by 7:30 on Wed and I hate to run late.
I'm thinking about doing DM cardio and upper body premix tomorrow, Friday run and ME lower body and Sat. my longer run/ walk.

Marcy~Do you have Ab Hits? I don't do that one much anymore, but all of the CTX abs sections are on there. I don't have a barbell, so I just change dumbbells with PLB. Would you like that better? And yes, PUB biceps are the hardest ever!! It seems like 30 min of bicep curls!! And I just ordered that one. What WAS I thinking?!?!:p

Deanie~I don't have DOMS from LL! But, then there were 2 exercises that I didn't use weights at all!
I'll have to try DM drill#3 with a weight tomorrow. Good idea!

Well, off to make the chocolate cake for tomorrow's dinner party. I think we'll have 10 of ds's college frat. bros. and 6 adults here. Five of the guys are staying over, so no workout room for me Friday morning. I think they will be gone by aft. though.

Have a good evening!

Good Morning!

Today was DM premix #5 (cardio and upper body) and it was a fun one. I still am not 100%, but getting better.
Not sure if I'll be able to post tomorrow since we will have a house full.
The only way my DH cleans up or works on repairs is when we have company over, so I guess we should do it more often!!

Deanie~We'll "see" you tomorrow after Yom Kippur.

Marcy~What is on tap for today?

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

Today was yoga day. I did one of my new ones - Yoga Radiance. I liked it although it didn't flow very well. It's separated into 4 segments - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter (50 mins.) and there's a 30 minute lunar sequence. I did all of the seasons. Liked Autumn and Winter the best. I guess because they were all different segments it felt really disjointed. But there were some really cool poses. I did well with dancer's pose today. She did Warrior 3 a few times in addition to Warrior 1 and 2 and reverse warrior. Also chair pose, twisted chair, forward bends and holding leg to the side while holding your big toe. There was a really cool move called Bird of Paradise:

http://www.expertvillage.com/video/20644_yoga-types-bird-paradise.htm

which I have to work on. Also, headstand and side crow (which I was totally confused on). It's done via voiceover and there really isn't too much instruction.

Gin - Glad you enjoyed DM #5. I have to admit I think all of the premixes from that series are better than the originals which are most of the time too long for me to do in their entirety. I don't have Ab Hits. I probably won't get that one because I do plan on eventually getting CTX. Actually I do just change dumbbells with PUB but since I don't have a lot of individual dumbbell sets, it takes time to change all the plates on my short barbells. Good luck with your dinner party tomorrow! You must have been thinking you really want to be in pain to order PUB! Hope you get a workout in later on tomorrow. I'm planning on doing S&H Bis and Tris tomorrow and if I can, I'd like to do more yoga on the weekend. Also, there's going to be a dance Sat. night instead of just lessons but there will be a Rumba lesson. I'm going to try and twist DH's arm to come with me.

Miss you Deanie!

Have a good night!

Marcy

Finally Friday

Good Morning gals

today was SS premix #2. sets 1a,1b,1b and 2a,2b,2b I ended up doing the premix as is. A really good workout, I am really enjoying SS lately.

Gin~ Enjoy all your company. I love having a house full of people! Hope your dinner party goes well and you get to workout.

Marcy ~ Wow!! That bird of paradise is wild!!your yoga practice yesterday sounds intense!! I agree about DM I also love the premixes more than the actual workout. But mostly because the regular workout is sooooo long! My DS was on Ritalin, but only for 8 hours, we tried to switch him to a new med. Vyvanse, which is 12 hours for ADD, but that didn't work, to many side effects and it wasn't helping his concentration. his grades were slipping. He was also frustrated because he could tell it wasn't working in school the same way the Ritalin was . Poor boy:(. But he's back on Ritalin for 8 hours and he's happy!:D How were your son's grades when he went off the meds? I am hoping as DS gets older, he won't always have to take the meds.

In-laws will be here this weekend, not sure if I will get to workout or not. If I do I will do 30-40 min. steady state on the treadmill.
Have a great friday and weekend!!

Good Afternoon!

This morning I did S&H Tris & Bis. Pretty good workout. This one's not as much torture as Chest & Back (which I think is the toughest in this series).

Overhead Extensions: 23.4# - all sets
Lying Extensions - 10# - all sets
Kickbacks - Set 1 - 10#; set 2 - 10#/2 reps, 8#/6 reps
Dbbl Curls - 15.4# - all sets
Hammer Curls - 13.4# - all sets
Bbl Curls - Set 1 - 30.6# - 7 reps; set 2 - 30.6# - 4 reps; set 3 30.6# - 5 reps (I should've probably gone down in weight but I didn't feel like changing weights).
Wrist Curls - 10#
Reverse Curls - 5#

Deanie - Welcome back! Hope you had a good holiday. Glad you're enjoying SS. PP and SS are really good workouts that I probably don't do enough. My DS's grades were never really that great, unfortunately. Even with as much help as I tried to give him. Medication definitely helped. The problem was it always wore off by the time he would need to do his homework and especially by the time I got home. I used to have the teachers fill out a checklist to let me know how he was during the day - like if he behaved, if he got his work done, listened to instructions, etc. I always found that helped. They psychiatrist was also impressed with my checklist. As your DS gets older, he might find different ways to cope so that he doesn't need his meds. I used a lot of meds over the years, but I think Ritalin was always the best. Have you tried Concerta? I think it had Ritalin (methylphenidate) in it but I think, IIRC, it lasted 12 hours. Adderall was a total disaster. Then there was Cylert when he first got diagnosed which really did help but they found out it had bad effects on the liver so we took him off it.

Hope you get a workout in this weekend.

Gin - Hope your dinner party goes well and you get a workout in.

Have a great weekend!

Marcy

Deanie - Actually my yoga practice wasn't intense yesterday; just some new poses I hadn't done before. I like a challenge. Now Mark Blanchard is intense.

Marcy

saturday
